****the next day****
"Oh my gawd." Alyssa squealed behind me in math.
"Yes?" I turned around.
"Aren't you excited about after school?" She whispered.
"Kind of!"
"Don't be, it should be fun." Maya chimed in.
"Does the talking ever stop?" Mr. Lisonel looked in our direction.
We stopped talking and listened to his lesson.
"Okay there are 25 minutes left of class It took me 5 minutes to take this quiz so i'm giving you 5 times the time it took me. remember this is a partner quiz no more then 3 but feel free to work alone."
Maya, Alyssa & I turned our desks towards each other.
"Are we allowed to come to practices?" Alyssa asked.
"I don't know Alyssa, I haven't even been to practice yet." I was tired. I'd barely slept last night I was so excited.
"Sorry." She looked sad.
"No its fine. sorry i'm being such a bitch i'm working on like 4 hours of sleep."
"Its cool." She started working on the math. "How about Maya and I work on on the quiz and you take a cat nap?" She tried to help.
"Really? Thanks." I put my head down.
Before I knew it then bell rung and It was time for 3rd hour.
I lifted my head up and seen Alyssa had packed my bag for me and was waiting for me but Maya was gone.
"Thanks but wheres Maya?" I rubbed my eye.
Alyssa shrugged. "She had an attitude."
I was too tired to try and deal with Maya so I headed straight to science w. Alyssa and Tameela.
The warning bell rung and kids spilled in the class.
"Goodmorning class." Mrs. Brown said as she put on her lab coat.
"I have partnered you up w. lab partners. You will be working w. chemicals, so hair up, goggles on and labcoats on! I will first demonstrate what needs to be done." She pulled her goggles down.
She grabbed the pink liquid and pour it in the purple liquid.
"Ask you see class the chemicals mixed together form a dark purplish color. follow the directions or else it might explode. after it finished processing take the liquid and pour it over the dry ice and poof." She poured it and the dry ice dissappeared!
"Oooooooo." the class said together.
She started calling out the groups.
"Hazel and Damien!" She called out. I looked at Damien who was looking at me.
He walked across the room to my station.
"Wassup superstar." He smiled.
I frowned.
"It was a joke I'm sorry." He poked his lip out.
"Okay! its just everyone keeps saying that to me and I haven't even went in tour yet. I'm still the same me and I'll never change." I handed him a pair of goggles.
"Oh well to take your mind off of things you should have lunch w. me in the red box." He put my labcoat on.
"Thanks and mhm maybe." I grabbed the beaker.
"You can't say maybe to a man in a lab coat." He flexed his muscles.
I giggled "Oh Alright!"
"There is an Odd number so Alyssa please join a group." Mrs Brown shouted.
Alyssa waltzed over to our group.
"Hey girly." She put on her labcoat.
"Hey hey hey."
"We should order food during lunch."
"I'm going to have lunch with Damien today." I informed her.
"Ohhh lala." She twirled and winked.
I blushed. "Its not like that."
"Yeah it is! We're having a hot date." Damien joked around.
We finished mixing the chemicals and Alyssa took thr beaker.
"Guys i'm magic! give it up for the amazing alyssa!" She started humming. She poured the liquid over thet dry ice and it dissapeared into a fog. "tada!"
We laughed at her goofiness
"Okay 15 minute warning! Clean up time!" Mrs. Brown danced around singing the clean up song.
We all laughed and cleaned up.
Finally the lunch bell rang.
"Okay i'm going to go to my locker and meet you in the red box in 10." I waved bye to Damien and walked to my locker with Alyssa and Tameela.
Janise and Maya were already standing there waiting.
I opened my locker and put my books in there.
"What do you want for lunch Hazel?" Maya asked.
"Uhm I'm having lunch w. Damien today." I closed my locker.
"Oh." She said and stormed away.
"Attitude!" Janise scrunched her face up.
"What did I do?" I grew annoyed. "She's been so rude to me lately."
"Remember what we told you in 5th hour." Tameela gave me a look.
They walked me to the red box and left!
I opened the door and on the stage was a round table with two tall candles on the table.
"Hey." He walked from behind stage with a pink rose in his hand.
"Awe, thanks!" I walked up to the stage!
I sat down.
****Maya POV***
I was sitting at the lunch table by myself when Tameela, Janise & Alyssa walked up.
"Hey girl." Tameela sat her tray down.
"Hey ya'll." I took my headphones out.
"I'm sad cheer is over! now all I do is go home, do homework and be bored." Alyssa complained and the other girks agreed.
"Me too thats why I hope we're allowed to watch Hazel reharse."janise added.
"Yeah Hazel was soo amazing! she really deserve this. i'm so proud of her." Tameela bite into her burger.
My blood started to boil.
"I can't wait to see her on stage."
"Oh my god! shut up about Hazel!" I grew mad.
"You are such a fucking bitch." Tameela cut her eyes at me.
They got up and walked away.
I ran to the science wing bathroom and cried.
I finally got myself together and headed to 4th period dance.
**Hazels Pov**
"Lets head to dance." Damien grabbed my hand.
We walked hand and hand to class.
We stopped right in front of the class door.
He pulled me in and starting kissing me.
The warning bell rung. We stopped and I saw Maya walking up starring hard.
"Hey girl." I waved to her.
As I got closer I could tell she'd been crying. She ignored me and walked into.
"Yo, yo girl cool?" Damien asked.
I shrugged. "I'm going to go check her out tho." I kissed him and walked to the girls change room.
Luckily Maya was the only one in there.
"Hey are you okay?" I tapped her and asked.
She ignored me and kept changing.
"Did I do something to you?" I asked.
Maya started crying.
"Oh.My.Gosh" I grabbed her and held her.
"I'm just really stressing out right now." She cried into my shoulder. "I feel like I'm not good enough my parents are seperating again, my grades are down and I must've gained 15 pounds from all this stress. I just feel like I'm not happy! all i want is to be happy. I thought I'd win the dance and it'd be my chance to be happy but I didn't I'm miserable and I'm jealous of you and I hate feeling this way because you're my best friend."
I patted her back
"Jealous of me for what?" I was shocked even tho the girls had told me.
"You're so perfect! Perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect teeth, perfect body, perfect family, perfect at dance perfect life." She cried harder.
"Hey I'm not so perfect. my hair gets frizzy, I had braces, my tits are too small & if I had a perfect family I'd have a dad, I'm not a perfect dancer at all." I smiled.
"Your family is perfect without a dad. your mom is so sweet and caring! she supports you all the time. my mom doesnt think dance is a real life career. "
"I wish I had a dad, you don't know how much I hurt because of it. So stop looking at the negatives in your life and brighten the positives like the fact that you have the most beautiful caramel skin i have ever seen, Your eyes are a unique brown, you actually have titts, you're an amazing dancer, you have a great voice and you are so smart at math!"
"You're just saying that cause we're friends."
"I'm not I promise."
"Then how come boys don't come to me." She looked up at me.
"Because they can sense your insecurites. Boys like girls that are confident. So think and knoow you are IT." I smiled and rubbed her hand.
"Thanks." She hugged me and we headed out to dance!
