Jaylnn
"Hello?"
"Jaylnn, where are you?" Teyana yelled through the phone.
"Home, in the bed, why?" I sighed.
"Me and Aziyah outside in the front of your house child." She chuckled.
"Why didn't you guys just come in? Y'all know where the emergency key is." I got up from the bed and went to the living room.
"Oh yeah, my bad Jay." She hung up as she walked through the door with Aziyah behind her.
I walked in the kitchen and sat at the island. They walked in behind me and went through my cabinets and refrigerator to find snacks.
"Well, hey to you guys too."
"Hey my love, how are you doing?" Aziyah laughed. They always came over to invade my snacks, but I didn't mind because these girls are my best friends that I love and only have in my life. I'm very thankful for them entering my life because if they didn't, I'd be alone every day.
"Ziyah, you have such a way with words." I chuckled. After they founded everything they wanted, we went to my room.
"Jaylnn, you seem so depressed. Open up your blinds sometimes." Teyana said, opening my blinds, making the sun pour in my room. I squinted my eyes and turned away from it.
"So, where are we going today?" Aziyah said with her mouth full of cheese puffs.
"I was thinking we could go to Sky Zone and then grab a bite to eat then later on tonight, we could go skating like old times." Teyana suggested. Although it sounded fun, I'd rather stay in the house.
"How about you guys go ahead while I stay here." They gave me a stale face.
"You're coming and that's it Jaylnn. I'm tired of watching you sit in the house and mope around while Tey and I have fun." I rolled my eyes at Aziyah.
"We miss the old Jaylnn." Teyana pouted. I had to admit, I use to have lots of fun when I was younger. After my parents died, my life hasn't been the same since then.
I sighed, "Fine, I'll go." I got up and gathered my things to take a shower.
"Good! We'll pick out your outfit." Teyana jumped up and ran into my closet, dragging Aziyah with her, making her drop her chip onto my floor.
"I'm trying to eat my cheese puffs!" Aziyah shouted.
I walked in the bathroom, closing the door behind me. I turned the shower on and waited for it to heat up. While waiting, I brushed my teeth twice and washed my face clean from dirt and crust.
Seeing steam coming from the shower, I stripped out of my night clothes and stepped in the shower. Suddenly, all of my worries and stressing went away. Stepping under the shower head, I let the steaming water slide down my body from my hair to my toes.
Letting my thoughts overflow, tears came strolling down my face along with the water. I missed my mom and dad so much, the pain was unbearable. I was only 16 when they died. It's been 2 years since they've been 6 feet under. Sometimes, crying is the only thing I could do. Therapy wouldn't do anything for me so I try the best I can to stay sane.
"Jay you okay?" Tey shouted from the other side of the bathroom door.
"Y-yeah, I'm okay!" I grabbed my wash cloth and squeezed my body wash onto the rag.
30 minutes later, I turned the water off and wrapped myself into my black fuzzy towel. I opened the door and walked over to my dresser.
"Jay, talk to me." Aziyah spoke, almost whispered.
"I'm fine y'all. I promise."
"Are you sure? It sounded like you were crying to me." She crunched on more cheese puffs.
Teyana hit her, "What?" She rubbed her arm.
"What she meant was, you aren't okay." Teyana sat beside me.
"Y'all I'm good." I felt tears at the rim of my eyes, threatening to fall. I slid my undergarments on and put coco butter on.
Teyana looked at me for a moment before starting up another conversation.
"Aziyah and I picked this outfit out for you." She said, holding it up. It was a baby blue shirt, a pair of white jean shorts with rips and my blue university 11s.
"Cute right?" Aziyah said, with crumbs around her mouth.
"Ziyah, you gotta learn how to eat baby." I laughed. I grabbed my clothes and slipped them on. In the process, Teyana dried my hair and put it in a bun and Aziyah sprayed me with some vanilla perfume.
"Thanks guys." I hugged the both of them.
"You know we got you Jay." Tey chuckled. I nodded, grabbing my phone and my keys to my black on black Mercedes Benz.
"I'll meet y'all there." I said, locking up the house.
"Alright girl." They jumped in Tey's car and drove off. I got in the car and cranked it up, letting the windows down. I plugged the aux cord in my phone and played 'Work' by Rihanna featuring Drake.
I backed out of my driveway and headed to Sky Zone.
[Zayon]
"Yo, yall ready to jump?" I asked, sliding my phone in my pocket.
"Yeah, let's go." We walked over to the trampolines and started jumping and pushing each other around.
"Aye, look at that group of girls over there." Elijah said, pointing them out.
"They all are some mighty, mighty fine girls." Xavier laughed.
"I bet you won't go talk to em." I chuckled.
"I bet I will." He mumbled, walking over to them.
"He has no chance." I laughed.
We watched him talk to them. He pointed over to us, making the girls look our way. 5 minutes later, he came back over to us, laughing.
"I got their names. The girl in the black half shirt is Teyana, the girl in the white shirt is Aziyah, and the last one is Jaylnn." He said in one breath.
"Jaylnn is the finest one." Elijah licked his lips.
"Yeah." I agreed. "Enough on the girls, let's go eat because I'm starving." I rubbed my stomach, feeling it growl.
We all put our shoes back on and left Sky Zone.
"Where we eatin' at?" Elijah asked.
"Let's meet up at the burger joint."
We all agreed on the burger joint, so I hopped in the car with Elijah while Xavier drove himself.
"Why didn't you go talk to that girl?" Elijah glanced at me.
"Cus I aint looking for a female." I simply shrugged my shoulders.
"So you looking for a male?" He laughed.
I gave him a death glare. "You know I don't cross that gate man."
"You haven't talked to a female since your junior year, what's up?"
"Ever since Kelsi, I haven't been able to look into another female's eyes."
Kelsi Smith was my long time loving girlfriend. We started dating our 7th grade year and broke up our junior year. We broke up because I found her in another man's arms. She was crying into his arms about me. Instead of her coming to me, she went to him.
I cringed at the moment. "Not every female is the same you know."
"I really don't care for this conversation." I laid further back into my seat and covered my eyes with my arm.
"Just lettin' you know."
[Teyana]
"Jay, did you see that boy? He was so fine!" Aziyah went on and on about the boy that came over and talked to us at Sky Zone.
"Yes Ziyah, I did." She sighed.
"One of the other boys was staring at you." She said, sipping on her tea. I looked at Jaylnn to see what she would say.
"Okay..."
"Jay, when was the last time you had a boyfriend?" I asked in curiosity.
"The end of my 7th grade year why?"
"How'd that go?"
"We only dated for 2 weeks and a day. We broke up because he chose hoes over me."
"Must've been a dummy." Aziyah mumbled more to herself than us. I chuckled and shook my head.
"You ever thought about getting back out there?"
"No." She picked her fork up and ate what was on her plate.
"You should try getting back out there." I suggested. She immediately shook her head no.
"Why not?" Aziyah asked.
"Because, I'm not sure if I wanna put my heart at risk like that." She sighed, rubbing her temples.
"What if your heart isn't at risk?"
"I'm not going for it y'all." She shut the conversation down.
I'm beginning to worry more about Jaylnn. Ever since her parents died, she hasn't been putting herself out there like old times. She used to be the most lit person I knew and now she's slowly turning into the most depressed person I know.
I looked at her for a while before I finished my food. "What time we going skating?"
"Um, 7:30." I said, checking my phone for the time.
"What time is it now?"
"6:45." I looked up and seen the same dudes from Sky Zone walking in.
"Okay Ziyah, don't freak out, but those dudes are here from Sky Zone." I said, laughing. Aziyah looked as if she would scream any moment and knowing her, she might.
"Breath Ziyah, breath." She coached herself. Me and Jaylnn laughed loudly, causing them to look our way.
"You guys, it's not funny." Ziyah rolled her eyes.
"You're right, it's hilarious!" Jay laughed, dapping me up. Ziyah rolled her eyes and slouched down in her seat with her phone in her face.
"Good laugh right there." I said, wiping my face from tears. The same dude, Xavier walked up to our table.
"What's up ladies?" He grabbed a chair and sat with us.
"Nothing creep what's up with you?" I chuckled.
"Came here to get our stomach full like y'all." He took one of my fries.
"Where ya boys?" Ziyah asked, sitting up.
"Standing over there." He pointed out.
"Tell em to come chill with us." I suggested. He nodded and walked over to them. He came back over with them behind him.
"Y'all, this is Zayon aka Zay and this is his brother Elijah." He introduced them.
"What's poppin' sons?" Ziyah joked. I smacked my forehead with my palm. Jaylnn was just sitting there, watching us talk.
"How we all gone chill right here?" Zayon asked.
"Pull up some chairs?" Xavier said in a questioning tone.
We all sat, eating, laughing and enjoying the time together. On the other hand, Jaylnn was quiet as a mouse.
"What's wrong Jay?" I mumbled so she could only hear me.
"Nothin' I'm good."
"You sure? Why aren't you talking?"
"I have nothing to say." She looked down. I stared at her for a moment, noticing tears dropping from her face.
"Excuse us for a moment." I said grabbing Jaylnn's wrist and dragging her to the bathroom.
"Jaylnn what's wrong?" I hugged her tightly.
"I miss them so much Tey. All I can do right now is cry." She sobbed.
"Jay listen to me... They wouldn't want you crying. They want you to be happy okay? They love you so much and I'm more than sure they miss you too. They're up there watching down on you and making sure that you're safe." I even cried a little bit of tears. It broke my heart to see my best friend crying like this.
"I literally have no family Tey! You and Ziyah are the only family I have!" She cried harder, losing her breath.
"Jay, breath okay? It's gonna be okay, just calm down and breath." I coached her.
"Why did they have to leave me alone Tey?!" She yelled. I sighed, trying to calm her down.
"Jay, listen... calm down please." I let the tears fall down my face.
"T-Tey, I need them." She cried, trying to catch her breath.
Ziyah walked with a sad expression. "Is she okay?"
"No, I think we need to take her home." Quickly, Jay rose her head up.
"No, just let me c-clean myself up a-and we and finish our night." She wiped her face, quickly fixing herself up.
"You sure babes?" Ziyah asked, rubbing her back.
"Yes, i'm positive. Now somebody go back out there and tell the guys were coming." She smiled a little.
"Okay." Ziyah walked back out, doing what Jay told her.
I stayed with her until she got herself together and looked like her usual self. Once we got back to our table, they guys were looking at us.
"You ladies okay?" Xavier asked.
"Yeah, thanks for asking." Jaylnn spoke. I smiled at her and sat back in my seat.
I hope the rest of the night ends well...
