The road to the castle was rough. Mary struggled to get there. Alice had summoned many beasts to get in her way. Lions, bats, wolves, it was horrendous. By some miracle, Mary managed to get to the castle. But it wasn't much better.
The castle looked even creepier up close. The castle was entirely black, almost like a shadow. You could only see the outline, as it was enshrouded in a very thick fog. But there was no turning back now. Mary entered the fog.
Something very peculiar happened. As she entered, the fog suddenly disappeared. But what was even more odd was that the castle was still pitch black. All she could see was the outline of a window, high in the sky.
"Time to put the magic mat to use."
She laid out the magic mat and got on it. Suddenly, it lifted itself into the air and zipped right through the window.
The inside of the castle wasn't much better then the outside. There was a single corridor, which was black all round it. There seemed to be no end. But Mary couldn't give up now. She kept zooming forward on the mat.
Suddenly, the mat came to a stop. Mary was launched forward, smashing into a door. She landed with a thud onto the floor.
As she got up, rubbing her back, she could hardly see anything. On the other side of the corridor, she could see the tiny light that shone in from the window. On her side, a single door stood in her way.
She picked up the mat, and suddenly it turned into a bag.
"Well, this is much more convenient then carrying everything in my arms."
She put the knives and cheese in the mat bag and opened the door.
The sight was horrendous.
The walls were splattered with blood. Bones were scattered across the floor. The room had a very putrid smell of dead corpses. And worst of all, in the middle of the room, was Alice, sitting on a throne of blood. Wearing a red dress and a devious grin.
"So, you've arrived."
