Two Months Later
The little white stick sitting on the counter held my entire future in it. It made me sick to my stomach. I already knew the answer. It was undeniable. I just needed proof.
Stupid. How could I be so stupid?
I finally gained the courage to look at the results.
The answer I already knew was in front of me in form of a little pink plus sign.
Someone knocked on the bathroom door, so I quickly stuffed the test back in the box and into the bottom of the trash can.
I opened the door to see Allie standing in front of me.
"Hey, I was just checking to see if you were okay," she smiled.
I quickly nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just didn't feel well for a minute."
"Alright, hun. Oh, Mason and Charlie are bringing home dinner, so I hope you're hungry."
"Sounds great to me."
I went and sat on my bed, running my fingers through my hair.
I just wanted tonight to get over with as soon as possible. I needed to be alone. I needed to figure out how to tell Mason.
When I looked up, Allie was in the doorway.
She just looked at me, "Auden, do you want to talk?"
My stomach dropped, "A-A-About what?"
"Well for starters, your hiding skills."
"So you know..."
"Is it Mason?"
I nodded.
"Does he know?"
I shook my head.
She sat down next to me and wrapped her arm around my shoulder, pulling me into her, "Oh, honey..."
Before I could stop them, tears started running down my cheeks, "What do I do?"
"Come on, I want you to meet someone. I think it's overdue anyways."
She nearly dragged me out of the house and into her car.
We ended up in a driveway of a small house I've never seen before.
"Who's this?" I questioned.
"Tyler's ex-wife, Ariel. She got pregnant with their daughter, Jessa, when she was about your age. I'm not bringing you here to deter you from having the baby, I just want you to see what kind of family the Tomas boys are."
We got out of the car and walked up to the door.
A woman who didn't look much older than me opened the door.
Her short, blonde hair was a mess, she was dressed in a pair of sweatpants and an old t-shirt that was covered in stains.
"Hi, Allie, this must be Auden?" she said with a smile on her face.
"Nice to meet you," I greeted nervously.
"Come in, come in!"
We went inside to a somewhat tidy living room and sat down on a navy blue couch.
"Allie, do you want to give us a minute?" Ariel asked.
Allie smiled and left the room.
"She told me about your situation, and wanted me to talk to you," she explained. "I completely understand how scary your situation is, but I want you to know you will be very well taken care of by Mason and the rest of his family. They aren't the kind of people to make you do this on your own, that I can swear. I had my daughter Jessa when Tyler and I were nineteen. We got married and bought this house together. As I'm sure you know, we didn't work out. We ended up getting divorced and after that, having our son, Grayson. It's hard, but I love my children. He loves our children. We may not be together, but we have a beautiful four year old daughter and year old son. When we got divorced, Tyler put the house in my name completely. When I wasn't working, it was him and Mason who fed my children and I, kept clothes on our back. That family is the reason we are doing so well today. So, you need to know completely, Mason will make sure you are taken care of, no matter your relationship. Nothing will happen to your baby, either. So don't be scared. I know you haven't been in this town long, but you have a ton of support, and I'll have Allie give you my number in case you need anything. Okay?"
I couldn't even respond, all I could do was hug her and cry some more.
Even though this conversation was one-sided, it made me feel a lot better about my situation and I couldn't be more grateful.
