I hummed as I walked; Kei curled up above my head. I decided to have him rest up for a while I walked around-for old times' sake, you know? I smiled sadly as I approached the skinny tree top that had protruded through the sand when I was just a child. It had gotten a bit taller, but it still had the signature branch pattern. As I got closer I also saw the small not grandpa had written so I always knew it was this tree. 'Grandpa loves you Suki; keep shooting for the stars and one day you'll be more important than the moon. Don't forget it.'
I let a single tear slip and smiled lightly, he was family to me, blood or not. 'I miss you grandpa...' I thought and nuzzled the tree. The movement must've woken Kei up; I could feel him slither to the top of my head. "What's that?" he asked.
I smiled sadly, "This is where grandpa and I would often stay. This was basically our home." I mumbled.
"Grandpa? You had family here?" he questioned.
I shook my head lightly, making sure he didn't fall. "We weren't blood, but we were basically a family. He took care of me and protected me. He taught me a lot of things and trained me to be strong." I answered gloomily.
"... Were..." he said, already knowing what that meant.
I nodded. "He's gone. He was killed while trying to protect me one day... And from then on I was on my own. I still haven't found his killer yet, but that's my life goal. I refuse to die until I kill him." I responded, another tear falling, but with that tear was a renewed promise.
I will find him. And I will kill him.
I felt Kei slither down my head and then wrap himself around my neck, curling around it a couple times before stopping himself and holding his neck up to read the short note. He then looked up at me. "You two must've been close... I'll help however I can." He said and nodded.
I smiled and started to walk away. "Let's get you back home. Then we can go hunting and get you leveled up~" I said in a sing song voice as I started walking away. I felt Kei nod and wrap himself around my neck once more and laid his head on top of my neck. I smiled then remembered 'home'. I stopped and then smiled, walking back over to the tree with a small bounce in my step. I put the tip of my tail to a couple inches below the note. I started sawing at the crystal and soon enough the tree was about to snap off.
I pulled out another tail and grabbed the crystal tree and sawed off the last bit that held it together. With that I had the note and the small pattern of branches that signaled it was the correct tree. I smiled and continued to walk away, this time with the branch held in my tail.
Soon enough I was sick of walking and it was nearing dark. I tried to tap into the dimension thing and after a good half hour I figured out how the hell you open it and started to form my reiatsu in front of me. It was pretty damn crumbly in the beginning, but I improved with every step-mainly because I almost died multiple times.
Soon enough we were in the Menos forest but I had no clue where. I sighed and started walking, it was even darker here. It wasn't really a problem, I had damn good vision, but it was irritating. I sighed and started walking, sniffing the air for a whiff of a scent that I knew. I couldn't find any, but of course.
I sighed and continued to walk, deciding if I was going to be stuck here I would at least keep my energy high. Well, it was smart of me to keep my energy high because I soon ran into a hoard of Menos. I scowled and snarled lowly at their incessant screeching. One fired a cero directly at me and I easily dodged. That set off all of the other hollows and I was attacked with an onslaught of ceros.
I jumped around frantically; making sure none of them hit me. Kei was startled awake by my jumpy and tense movements, unconsciously tightening his hold on my neck a little. I continued to dodge until the mass of red stopped. I looked up at the hoard with a deadly glare. I then saw one Menos waddle its way through the crowd and start screeching.
I watched it for a little, expecting for it to attack me. Then another one came up and shot it in the face with a cero, killing it.
I stared in awe, they're stupid creatures; it isn't smart to kill one of your own when you're as weak and stupid as them, yet this one did. It clearly was one with its own personality and thoughts.
The one who shot the cero turned towards me and Kei-who had slithered off my head and was poised for action by my feet-and shot a cero at us. We both dodged, jumping away from each other. I don't think it was that great of an idea, but hey, this is battle. Sometimes we do stupid stuff.
I sighed and continued to dodge another wave of ceros, I would try to do something, but I have no time. I looked over to Kei and saw he was doing fine and still hadn't been hit. I sighed in relief, and then gasped.
"FUCKING MENOS!" I screamed in pain as I slumped. 'My leg is probably broken now...' I thought with an angry snarl. I got back up and growled lowly, my left leg throbbing in pain. I fired a long cero, sweeping it across the row of ceros. Many fell, but they were replaced by yet another wave of angry Menos. I made an agitated sound and started to run at the hoard.
"This is freaking impossible!" Kei panted as he slithered next to me. I made an irritated bark and swung my head towards him, tossing him into the air and jumping up. Kei clearly got the message and slithered down, skillfully wrapping around my neck securely as I continued my jump, climbing a Menos and jumping onto a high tree.
"What do we do? There's too many of them to take them all down!" Kei said in panic. I smirked and leaned onto my right leg, tilting cockily as I stared down the Menos smugly. "Then we show them whose boss." I said simply and then jumped towards one of the Menos, giving Kei no time to question me. I smirked as I crashed directly into one of the Menos's mask, the mask cracking and caving in as I flew into it. I jumped off it as it began to fall, barely landing on another Menos's head. I growled out a laugh as I stared down at it sadistically.
I looked around and saw a Menos charging a cero and smirked, waiting for it to fire.
"What are you doing?! Run!" Kei yelled at me, confused as I stood on top of the Menos's head, grinning in anticipation at the charging cero. The Menos beneath me was flailing around as it tried to knock me down, but its short hands couldn't reach.
Right when the Menos fired at me I jumped down, the cero tracing my movements and splitting the Menos in half. I grinned evilly and ran at another, jumping in-between it and another, letting out a ferocious roar as I jumped directly into the air, flying above multiple. I could see the glow of many charging ceros and smirked.
I positioned myself in a downward spiral, picking up speed as I flew downwards. Many ceros flew past me, some in front of where I was and some whizzing behind me. I continued my descent, pushing myself to go just a little faster, aiming as perfectly as possible.
Then I crashed directly through a Menos's skull, ripping through its head and body, tearing through the bottom of its 'dress'. I landed skillfully on my feet, drenched in blood with a wicked grin on my face, my bright white teeth being stained with streams of blood as it dripped down my curled lips and over my sadistic eyes. I lowered my head and let out a loud growl, it sounding more like the rumble of thunder as it echoed around the forest.
I saw some of the Menos back up and could see the defeat in their eyes as they stared at me, their defenses lowered. I smirked and jumped onto one, growling at it to take me where ever I wanted to go. I pointed a random direction and it started its trek. As soon as I caught the faintest whiff of home I growled lowly at it, telling it to go in a different direction. It of course turned and went that way, not wanting to feel my wrath.
I sighed and started to shake the blood of my fur. It was getting a bit crusty now.
I knew Kei would be freaked out. He likely hasn't seen such a brutal murdering, hell; he might be scared of me now. I wouldn't be surprised either. I don't really know what came over me. I feel like.... A whole new person when I fight. I get so excited and... And caught up in the moment. I can't help but yearn for the blood that I could so easily obtain. So easily release into the world; stain it red. I couldn't hide the wicked grin as it grew on my face. Just the thought of making someone bleed makes me so... So eager to fight.
I.... I honestly don't know why I act so animal like. So beastly. I can't help it; the thought of blood gets me so thrilled.
"That was insane." He said. I could hear the excitement in his voice; even though he tried to hide it. I looked at him quietly, curiously. I knew he was scared, I could feel him tighten his grip on me every time I jumped-every time I moved. So why is he so.... Thrilled now?
"Do you do this every time? Damn, that would be fucking awesome. I can't even believe half the stuff you did! That was... INSANE!" he continued, rushing his sentences together as he spoke. He didn't really care that she wasn't responding anymore. He was too caught up in his own thoughts.
I couldn't believe he was so.... Impressed by how viciously she had killed them. How she had gotten lost in the thought of killing. Excited at the thought of fighting such a huge number of enemies. Why was he so thrilled and so eager to fight again?
I didn't understand it at all. I truly am a monster.
"You're so awesome." He finished, a small smile of child-like admiration on his face.
He thought me awesome? Not as a monster? Why? I didn't understand it!
I shook my head and smiled a little. He didn't see me as a monster. With that thought I smiled and nudged Kei onto my head. "This is home."
"Our home." Kei said, reminding me that I wasn't alone anymore. He didn't fear me, no; he admired me and my brutish strength.
He reminded me that I'm not a monster.
