Relief sweeps through my body as soon as I see the Immortal leaving my lands. I know he means me no harm (for the moment) but I just can't help but feeling threatened whenever he's around. I hate fucking vampires, I fear them and I sure as hell don't want them around me or anywhere near me.
"You little traitor." I scratch Tinkerbell's head and she looks at me with her big green eyes. Sometimes I do wonder what's going on in that little brain of hers.
I reach for the door handle out of habit and sigh once I remember one particularly hot vampire breaking it down.
"Wait... did I just think about Alexandros as hot?" I ask my reflection in the living room mirror. "I clearly meant horrible."
"Clearly." A voice answers me.
I look at my reflection oddly, wondering if I'm going insane.
"You're not crazy, probably just tired, but that will have to wait too."
I turn around and face the familiar long haired vampire. His blue eyes are cold as ice and his face is as expressionless as always.
"Oh, it's you." I am a little disappointed since I just told him to piss off. "What do you want?"
"I think a thank you should suffice: there are men in black with machine guns approaching your home." He announces.
"Pardon?" I am a little confused.
He shrugs.
The sound of a hissing bullet wakes me from my thoughts and I immediately sink behind the sofa. I crawl towards the coffee table and grab my guns, suddenly feeling less alarmed with them in my hands.
"So, how are we going to procede?" Alexandros asks lying next to me, his fangs are exposed and they're just freaking me out.
I scowl.
"I am going to deal with this, you can stay here or leave. It's your choice." I count my bullets and realise I need to take my swords with me, just in case.
As soon as I stand up the sound of bullets being fired starts again. I duck down once again.
"On second thought I might need a hand." I admit, nearly biting my tongue.
"I gathered." He does something with his lips that vaguely reminds me of a smile.
"How do you think we should procede?" I ask him, gripping my guns so hard my hands become sore.
"Let's kill them all." He simply states.
"Very well." I smile, genuinely amused.
I crawl and make my way towards the non-existent door, but just as I am ready to go through it a strong hand stops me.
"Allow me." The Immortal steps out and uses his body as a shield to protect me.
Bullets end up sinking in his flesh and blood starts spilling from his wounds. I start shooting back at every black figure I can spot.
The Immortal speeds towards one of the men and rips his throat open, drinking the blood that's gushing out of it. If I wasn't too busy not getting killed, I would probably want to puke right now.
"Fuck." I bellow at the clicking sound of my guns that warns me that I'm out of ammo.
I duck behind my picket fence, well aware of the fact that it is indeed a shitty cover and try hard to thing about a plan B.
"Okay, Lily, breathe, you can do it." I drag myself towards one of the dead bodies and snatch the machine gun from it. Just feeling the cold metal under my fingers makes me feel safer.
I close my eyes and draw energy from the earth surrounding me, trying to indentify where my enemies are.
"So." A voice wakes me from my thoughts and I open my eyes to find Alexandros lying once again next to me. "They apparently want you dead because you quit some sort of criminal assassin organisation. I thought those existed only in motion pictures."
"Well, that was quick." Especially considering the fact that I had told them that just half an hour before. "And they are called films nowadays, not motion pictures."
"I suspect they were watching you." He ignores my comment and starts licking his fingers from the red liquid still staining them.
That is so damn sexy... No, it is not, it's disgusting! Right Lily? Yeah, right...
"Perfect, so now we can go back to killing them all?" I try snapping out of my own thoughts.
"I thought you'd never ask." He speeds away, his eyes glittering with excitement. After all, vampires are predators, and like every good predator they suffer from the thrill of the chase.
I stand up in the direction of my closest shooter and knock him down, with the precision of a sniper I hit the second man standing to his left just a matter of seconds later.
"Well done, Lily." I compliment myself as I once again take cover behind the fence.
"So your name is Lily." Alexandros sits beside me, startling me. "Very beautiful."
"Thank you. And you should stop creeping up on me unannounced, it's dangerous." I aim at a man's head emerging from the trees in front of us.
"You are welcome." He runs towards two men and slams their heads together.
"Haven't you had enough?" I ask as he sinks his teeth in his last two victims. His clothes are still drenched in blood but he's no longer bleeding.
"If you were shot multiple times with silver bullets I suspect you'd be hungry too. I need energy." He explains cleaning his mouth with the back of his hand and getting up.
"Whatever." I retort. "Did we get them all?"
"It seems so." He looks around and nods, then extends a hand towards me and helps me up.
As soon as our hands touch I feel sparks erupting from every pore of my body and at the same time my stomach is fluttering so much it makes me want to vomit. That's been happening a lot lately.
I stand up and try to get ahold of myself.
"I-"
My words are suddenly interrupted by the hissing of a bullet that sinks straight in my shoulder. The pain that follows is the worst I have ever experienced in my life.
My eyes widen and I try to speak but only result in blabbering and falling forward, straight in Alexandros arms while the world around me goes pitch black.
