I'm waking up with a terrible hangover from yesterday's revelry. Being back with the lads have really made my mornings a lot more awful.
"Good morning my beloved", Sean comments when he realizes that I'm awake. "Beautiful bird's nest you got there.", he says, referring to my messy hair and laughs teasing.
"When did you get here?", I ask in my raspy morning voice and rub my sleepy eyes with my palms.
"A while ago, but don't you worry. I sent the beautiful lady back home." Sean giggles as he walks out of my bedroom.
Sean is one of my closest lads. He's always in a good mood and somehow he inspires me to be a better person. I have a feeling he's going to stick around for a while and I do hope I'm right.
"Morning sunshine. You look...ravishing.", Aubrey says ironic with her joyfull voice when I step into the kitchen.
"Thank you. So I've heard...", I mutter and they both laugh out loud.
Aubrey is one of my bestfriends. Our friendship goes way back, some might even say that it has lasted a life time, but actually it has just gone 90 years. The problem is, she's not only my friend but also my ex-girlfriend. We had a relationship that lasted for 40 years, and even though we pretend that we don't - we will always remember how it used to be.
The day passes by and the night slowly arrives. We go to the club to party and drink, just like all the other nights. As usual I invite a woman over and it end up like it always does; in the bed with me feeding her blood after the love making.

The next night I couldn't care less about bringing a woman to my house. I'm walking, no wobbling my way home after hours at the club.
The moon has replaced the sun on the dark black sky. It shines among the sparkling stars and I'm moving my legs forward in the wonderful moonlight.
All of the sudden I hear someone breathing further away on the street. I can smell the woman's perfume and her shampoo, but I can't smell her blood and it drives me crazy. I fantasize about how the blood would taste in my mouth and I'm about to become insane because I can't figure it out. Why can't I scent it?
The 20 year old woman parks her car and shuts the door after she has stepped out. She checks the car twice to make sure it's locked before she starts to walk towards the apartments. I can't see her face until she turns around, and when she does her beauty makes me blind. She's the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen, and I have seen many women in my days.
"Exuse me!", I yell polite to prevent the lady from going inside. Her eyes meets mine and if there's anything called 'love at first sight' I had just experienced it.
I get breathless when I examine her stunning soft face with runded cheek bones. Her flawless olive skin looks neat to her indescribably crystal blue eyes. The long blonde hair hangs loose down her back and there's something about her luscious lips that just phases me.
"Yes?", the young woman asks with a concerned tone on her voice.
"I just had to talk to you because you look so unbeliveble gorgeous.", I explain charming and she flushes.
"Thank you.", she answers to the compliment and I walk up to her.
I stop one meter in front her and I know that she thinks I'm extremly handsome. I can tell because of her new facial expression and the way her body language suddenly changed.
I try smelling her blood again and the total failure makes me shudder. I want to push my fangs into her pretty throat to find out how it tastes, but I can't. Something far more powerful than my instinct is stopping me and it bothers me more than it should. I try to not think about her no-smell-blood, but I can't. It's so fascinating and different.
"How rude of me to not introduce myself. I'm Mr. Ashford. Call me Zane." I say and she seems suprised when I bow. I had forgotten which century I'm in. Nowadays they don't bow like we did back in the old days. I thinks it's a shame, I used to like it.
"Nice to meet you Zane. I'm Caitlin Rhodes." She looks at me and smiles, and it makes me melt inside out.
"Lovely name for a lovely woman.", I tell her to make sure she feels flattered.

What is it with this Caitlin that makes me feel like never before? It can't be love, can it? Is it even possible for us to fall for humans? I'm not sure. I feel like I have find my other half. This strange feeling is making me terrified - for the first time in my 328 years of living I don't know what to do.
