A/N: What they wore to the mall is above, Madison is comfy, Zoey is cute. Ignore athletic, hahaaa. Also the video is the dance that Madison does, while Zoey takes pictures. Enjoyyyyy
After a long week at school, it was finally Friday night and Zoey and I were going to have a sleepover to celebrate starting senior year. I started the night off by catching her up on my life and she'd do the same once I was finished.
"So anyway, this guy Ashton that I'm paired with for the English project is something else. He's rude and..." I explain to Zoey before wondering if I should be completely honest. "He knows Jason, he used the nickname," I say quietly. Her eyes snap to mine, hers full of worry.
"How does he know about Jason?" Zoey asked, trying to sense how I feel about this information.
"I'm not entirely sure but he knows everything, there's not a doubt in my mind. The way he acted about the nickname, repeating it to get under my skin, I just can't explain it."
"What a dick!" Zoey sneered.
After finishing all the rest of the things occurring in my life Zoey began her week. She looked at me with sad eyes. "My life is so different than yours, Maddie. My week consisted of good stuff. My dad got a promotion, my mom is doing well. There wasn't any drama at school that affected me. I just got to live my normal life..." She said, trailing off. I sent her a blank smile.
"Everyone's different, Zoe. There's no need to feel bad about it!" I attempted to reassure her.
"Doesn't change much. Anyway, let's go to bed, I'm exhausted and ready to go to the mall tomorrow!" She said, beginning to get more excited. She hugged me goodnight before crawling to her sleeping bag on my bedroom floor. Considering I had a twin bed there would hardly be room for her and she didn't mind sleeping on the floor. She was totally a floor person.
I didn't realize how exhausted I was either and fell asleep soon after watching my best friend drift into la-la land.
"WAKE UP. WAKE UP!" Zoey shouted and jumped on me.
"What the fuck do you want? I was so peaceful!" I whined.
"Your dad is demanding breakfast, and you know how cooking works for me... He also thought I was you when I went to the bathroom earlier and I think he tried to hit me," She explained in a hushed tone. The best part about our friendship is she wouldn't judge me for something like this. Even if he hit her, she might not say anything or she'd just move on from it. We were closer than anyone I'd ever met and I was beyond grateful for her.
"Okay, Zoe. I'm sorry about my father, are you okay?" I ask with a worried expression as I got out of bed.
"I'm fine! I just wanted you to be careful while making breakfast. I'm going to stay in here until it's ready."
I nodded at her and quickly changed into black leggings and a deep purple sweater. I quickly headed to the kitchen and cooked for my father, Zoey, and me. I made eggs and bacon and got a glass of orange juice for everyone. Thirty minutes later everyone was full and my father was sleeping on the living room couch. I made my way over to him and grabbed his wallet which was sitting next to him. I took out $200, I mean the perk of him being a drug dealer is a hefty paycheck.
I met Zoey at the front door and she stopped me. "Go grab some clothes to change into, I want to do a dance photoshoot after the mall. I got my stuff too," Zoey explained holding up her dance bag. I quickly ran upstairs and grabbed my bag after filling it with some extra clothes. Zoey and I love to dance, it's how we met and it's how we connected. Dance is my passion and it's just another reason I want to move to LA. I want to be on Dancing with the Stars, I will be on Dancing with the Stars as a professional dancer.
Nearly an hour later Zoey and I were walking down the crowded hallway of the mall. Zoey looked at me with a large smile on her face. "I love the mall!" Zoey cheered, the smile never leaving her face. I let out a small laugh at my best friend.
"I don't mind it but it's certainly not my favorite," I explain with a small smile as she dragged me into a random dress store.
"We shall find you a beautiful dress to wear! You not only deserve it after the week you've had, but you can use it to get the attention of whatever boy you want!" Zoey explained as her giddy attitude increased.
"Yeah right, I'll try some on, but I more than likely won't buy anything silly," I said which easily pleased my best friend.
"YAY!" She cheered happily. I rolled my eyes as she started pointing at different dresses. Once she started picking over five dresses I was suddenly realizing this was not going to be a quick process. "This one, and this one, OMG! Can't forget this one! And this one, ahhh, I love it, Oooooo, I'm trying on this one!" She squealed as she began running around the store, picking up fair more dresses than she could carry.
After trying on ten different dresses that I wasn't quite sure I'd wear I grabbed the last one. This one was pretty on the hander, let's see what it looks like on me. I put on the white dress with a poofed skirt and a jeweled top. This was gorgeous even on me. I actually liked this one. I came out of the dressing room and I couldn't help but smile as my best friend didn't look up. She continued scrolling through Instagram. I cleared my throat and she looked up, she looked back down at her phone as if she hadn't even seen me. Before I could say anything she looked back up again, it was as if she did a double take. Her eyes quickly widened three sizes and she fell out of the chair.
"HOLY SHIT, MADDIE!" She screeched.
"What?" I asked nerviously figeting with the bottom of the dress. "Is it that bad?"
"You're getting it." She decided with a smile.
"No, you look gorgeous and I know you know that even if it is deep down! You're getting it and that's settled," Zoey demanded rather than told.
"But I'm not sure if it fits my curves right..." I say as I continue to inspect the dress on my bruised and broken body. "I don't want to make the dress ugly," I say with a frown.
"That's certainly one thing that could happen when wearing that dress, Matts," Ashton said as he came from behind a dress rack. My heart dropped before it began racing in my stomach where it now lived. I felt my anxiety rise higher than before.
"I know I told you not to say that, I-I need you to stop using that nickname," I whisper as fear spread through my now shaking body.
"Ashton there's no need, get the fuck out of here," she sneered angrily. Zoey told me last night exactly who Ashton was. I didn't make the connection before but Zoey's sister dated Ashton and he broke her heart. It was his longest relationship (a whole year) and Zoey's sister said that she loved him and so he dumped her. Seems like comitment is not his strong suit.
"But messing around with the Hickman's is so fun," Ashton said with a wink. "How's your sister? Missing me as much as I'm not missing her? Although, you grew up a lot in this past year, so I'd love to mess around with you," Ashton flirted as he shamelessly checked Zoey out.
" I'd literally rather fucking die, asshat." Zoe sneered. "Come on Madison, go change and put the dress on the hanger. We're buying the dress and getting out of here."
"Whatever, but you're buying me food," I whined as I headed back into the dressing room.
"Okay, fam." Zoe giggled and took the dress to go pay for it as soon as I handed it out.
I decieded that after we got food we'd probably go do the photoshoot so I changed into my dance clothes, a white polo, with a black croptop with thin straps, and black shorts. As soon as I came out, Ashton was still there yet now he was sitting where Zoey was once sitting.
"What are you still doing here? Haven't you got somewhere else to be?" I asked.
"Nope, just wanting to bother you," He answered with a smile.
"Well, I've got places to be," I responded quickly before rolling my eyes and walking off.
Due to my outfit change my butt was a bit more showing and I couldn't help but stop myself when I heard Ashton let out a wolf whistle and practically shouted, "That ass is fine as fuck!" I stalked back to him, walking swiftly and stopped dead in my tracks right in front of him. I couldn't help but laugh at the fear in his eyes. I slapped him as hard as I possibly could, his head turned quickly with the force from my hand.
"Don't fucking cat call women, it's gross," I spit bitterly in his face. "Have some fucking respect, as if you mother didn't raise a moron." I spun around on my heels and walked over to the register where Zoey and the cashier watched what just occured between Ashton and me.
Around two hours later, I had a full belly and we were getting ready to do the photoshoot. I would dance first then I'd take zome of Zoey. After that we'd do some timer shots as well as a video if we wanted pictures together which we always did.
I did some quick poses before realizing we should record a video for YouTube. "If we get enough subscribers we can get real producers to see! We could start a team at school, there's no way we are the only dancers!" I say, coming up with more and more ideas. Dance is my passion, I have endless ideas.
"Yeah, let's do this thing!" Zoey said with a smile as she hit play and film at the same time. As I danced to the beat she made motions like smile, sad face, as well as silent compliments as she filmed. Soon the song ended and the video was done.
"We can get pictures from this because I just know I got so many good shots of you in that video. I can't wait to post it. You're so gorgeous and the world deserves to see that!" My best friend gushed with happiness.
The rest of our Saturday was spent taking photos, videos, and films. We had so much fun together and it was a day I'd probably never forget.
