"I still can't believe yesterday was so successful," Sirius marvelled in the Great Hall at breakfast the next day.
"Well, they seemed really happy when we saw them in Honeyduke's," Remus pointed out.
"So did you two," Sirius added with a smirk and raised eyebrows.
"It was nothing," (y/n) muttered, returning her gaze to her plate and stabbing her scrambled eggs.
"Yeah, we were just messing around," Remus said.
"You sure about that?" Sirius grinned cunningly.
Remus and (y/n) glanced at each other subtly and quickly looked back at their plates.
"What's the plan for today?" Remus asked, changing the subject completely.
"Lily and I were going to have a girls' day in her dorm," (y/n) said.
"Oh! Before you do that, could you two come to our dorm? Peter and I have something to show you. Including James, and you Remus," Sirius asked.
"Sure thing, little bro," (y/n) giggled.
"We were born on the same day!" Sirius exclaimed, throwing his arms up in the air.
"Two minutes," (y/n) stated.
"Two minutes is nothing, (y/m/n)!"
"It makes all the difference to me," (y/n) laughed, leaving the table. "See you lot in a few."
☆•★•☆
"Any idea what this is about?" Lily asked as she, James and (y/n) made their way to the seventh-year boys' dorm room.
"Not in the slightest," (y/n) told him.
"Perhaps it's something to do with helping Padfoot with his homework?"
"Maybe," James pondered. "Or it could be something to do with our end of year prank."
"What if it's something like ... Peter has a girlfriend?" Lily suggested.
"Nah, he fancies (y/n)," James dismissed.
"What?" (y/n) and Lily exclaimed.
"I wasn't meant to tell you that," James muttered, covering his mouth.
"Anyways, we're about to find out," (y/n) said. "Wiggentree," she said to the Fat Lady, who proceeded to open the entrance to the Gryffindor common room.
The three walked up the staircase to the boys' dorm and James knocked the door and opened it without waiting for an answer.
"Prongs!" the three boys shouted after James made his entrance.
"Boys!" James shouted back with open arms.
"It's weird being in here," Lily whispered to (y/n).
"Oh, you'll be fine. Come on!" (y/n) said, dragging her friend into the room by the sleeve of her cloak and throwing her onto the spare bed next to James. "What's up?" she asked as she jumped onto Remus' lap.
"So," Sirius started, giving his sister and best friend an odd look, "when you lot were on duty the other night, Wormtail and I were discussing our end of year prank."
"What did I say?" James exclaimed with a smug face.
"Shut up and listen," Lily hissed, slapping his arm yet smiling at him adoringly.
"Moving on," Sirius interrupted. "So, we thought that if we were going to plan a huge prank, it's likely that someone will catch us out."
"Agreed," Remus said.
"So, we had an idea of making something so that we could track people and where they are in the castle," Peter continued.
"And we came up with an idea of a map of the castle which shows every person who comes in," Sirius said and threw the plans over to Remus and (y/n). "Whatcha think?"
"It's a good idea," Remus approved while (y/n) nodded her head. "What's your plan of action?"
"I was thinking about placing an everlasting potion or charm on people who enter the castle by placing it over every entrance to the building," Sirius began. "And then that charm-slash-potion would detect who the person is and place them on the map with their name and a dot."
"Okay," Remus said, nodding his head. "It's possible."
"Is it?" Sirius asked excitedly.
"Yes, but our only problem is that there's probably secret passages into the castle," Remus added. "I mean, it's centuries old!"
"We'll just have to look for them all," Peter said.
"Wait," Lily interrupted.
"What?" The others asked, turning to look at her.
"When we were sorting out floors for Prefect duty, Dumbledore gave us a map of the school. I'll go grab it quickly. (y/n), come with me," Lily said hastily, grabbing (y/n) by the arm and dragging her off Remus, running through the common room together and down to the Head pupil dorms.
"That was fast," (y/n) panted.
"Yeah, but I wanted to speak to you about what's happening between you and Remus," Lily said, searching her part of the dorm for the map.
"Nothing," (y/n) stated, fiddling with sleeves of her cloak.
"Oh come on, you must like him!"
"Well, yes," (y/n) said. "As a friend."
"Really?" Lily sighed.
"Yes," (y/n) said slowly.
"If you say so," Lily smiled. "I've got the map, let's go."
"Here it is," (y/n) said in a monotone when the girls got back to the boys' dorm. She threw the map on the floor in front of Sirius and sat down next to him.
"Seven secret passages?" Sirius exclaimed.
"That's quite a few but it gives us a job to do," Remus said. "I'm sure there's a tracker potion somewhere in the books."
"And there may be an impregnating charm that could get the stuff in their DNA," Lily said. The others gave her a questioning look.
"It's blood basically," Remus explained for her.
"And we could but a transfiguring charm on it to make it look like something other than a potion," James added.
"That's a good idea," Lily told him with a smile.
"Thanks," James said, his cheeks turning the same colour as the Gryffindor bed sheets.
"Oh, just kiss already you two," Sirius told them.
"Actually, I'm going to the library to find that charm," Lily said, standing up from her leaning position on the doorframe. "James, you coming?"
"Yeah, I better look for that transfiguration spell," he said as he walked over to Lily. "See you later guys."
"So cute," (y/n) squealed when they left. "Just like in the muggle books."
"You and your books," Sirius muttered.
"Don't be mean, Padfoot," Peter defended (y/n).
"Thank you, Peter," (y/n) smirked. "At least one other person around here appreciates my love of books."
"Yeah," Peter reinforced.
"Whatever."
"(y/n), do you want to help me find that potion later?" Remus asked.
"Yeah, I'd love to be surrounded by more books," she taunted Sirius.
"Oh, just go now," Sirius pouted. "You can have your little library date as well then."
"It's not a date!" the two shouted as they left the dorm room.
"Whatever you say!" Sirius shouted back. "Honestly," he muttered to Peter.
"Do you think they like each other?" Peter asked timidly, a hint of jealousy in his voice.
"Nah," Sirius said after some thought. "They've always been that close."
