Lily ran from the house unable to hold the tears back any longer. She ran to the park where her and Sev used to hang out. "Of course he's not there." She thought to herself. "Why should he be? He hates me. He even called me the "M" word!!" She sat down on the swing with a huff. "Oh give it a break Lily! It's been two years. You're going to be a fifth year in a month. It's time to stop worrying about the git." She began swinging. Thinking in surprise how the wonder of such a simple act can fill her with so much glee. With the wind blowing her hair and the jump in her stomach every time she moved forward. She flew herself off as she saw someone approaching. She stood up and faced the unknown person. She hid her surprise when it turned out to be Sev. "Snape." She greeted him.
"Lily? You're talking to me?!" He asked in surprise.
"Not anymore." She stated with a flat voice. She pushed past him.
"Lily?" Severus said.
She stopped. There was something in his voice. Something that she had never heard before; heartbreak. She felt the tears spring back up. She heard him ask in a quiet voice, "Don’t you love me?"
"I thought I did and you know Se-Snape I thought you loved me back. But I was wrong. If you loved me you wouldn't have used that God-awful word."
"I did love you, Lily. And I still do. I wasn't thinking and I'm sorry. So bloody sorry. I understand how you feel. It's the same way I felt when you started hanging with Potter. I'm not asking you to love me again. Just please, can you find a way to forgive me, somehow. Please?"
He finished in tears. It was a few seconds before Lily answered. "I forgave you a long time ago, Sev. And I think that somewhere in my heart I still love you. I just don't know if I can trust that feeling or you anymore." She began walking back home. Before she left she heard Sev whisper, "I understand." The tears which had begun to slow down returned full force. She knew that when she returned to Hogwarts things would be better between them and eventually between Sev and James also.
