Yoongi sat in the corner of the cafe, staring at the scientist sitting across from him. He felt guilty, assuming it was because he was meeting with Jungkook's previous captor without even telling the boy. He'd figured, at the time, that it was better if the boy didn't know; Jungkook'd probably make a big fuss of it if he did know.
"So is this our friendly meet-up?" Namjoon asked as he took a sip of his tea. The frown the older was giving him seemed to be going unnoticed.
"No. Unfortunately, this is just business. Or something like that." Yoongi shrugged. He continued to frown, bouncing his knee as he chewed his bottom lip. Finally, after a few moments of silence, he spoke again, "How many of these... experiments have you done? How many other Kookies are there?"
"Cookies? I haven't done any experiments on cookies..."
"No, Kookieー Birdy. The boy you placed in my care."
"Oh. Him."
"Yes, him. The boy who you seemed to have scarred so much he can't even bare to say or hear your name." Yoongi snapped. He was tired; he and Jungkook accidentally stayed up late watching another one of Taehyung's dramas and he'd barely got any sleep. Normally, it probably wouldn't matter but today he'd woken up on the wrong side of the bed and was feeling incredibly irritable. "And yet I heard he was so hooked up on your praise and acceptance. And you, you just abandoned him!"
"What brought this on..?" Namjoon asked, a frown growing on his brow.
"I met another one. I won't name names in case you hunt them down or anything, but I met one. And Jimin, he's one too!" Yoongi huffed. "We were friends once, Namjoon; good friends."
"I thought we still were friends..."
"No. Friends don't keep secrets like this from each other. Friends don't do things like this." The older male paused to take a sip of his coffee, not taking his eyes off the younger as he gulped down the warm liquid. "And I don't think I want to be friends with a person whoー who abuses people."
"I'm not abusing people. This is a scientific breakthrough." Namjoon spluttered as he desperately struggled to defend himself against the accusations being spat at him. The pair were receiving glances from the few other patrons of the cafe. "Imagine what we can do with this information; Birdy and Jimin are proof that we can combine human DNA with animal ones. With a few moreー"
"No. No more, Namjoon." Yoongi's voice raised higher before he exhaled slowly, trying to calm himself. He wasn't even sure why he was so worked up ー he just kept thinking of the things Jungkook could have gone through. "I think you should just stop, before anything happens."
This suggestion didn't sit well with the younger male, evident by the coldness passing across his face. "You know, once you would've supported this. Remember all the things we said we'd do in university? Where'd all the curiosity go? What happened to you?"
"I grew up." Yoongi spat as he stood up, stressing every word. "And I suggest you do the same."
And with that, he stormed out of the cafe, leaving Namjoon to deal with the bill. It was the least he could do, he figured.

Jungkook was awake by the time Yoongi got home. He was sitting in his usual spot on the couch, chewing on his thumb nail as he stared blankly at the space in front of him. Yoongi immediately noticed the boy was wearing one of his own jumpers, despite having plenty of his own.
"Hey Kookie." Yoongi smiled as he approached the rather stressed younger male. He noticed this as he got closer. "What's up?"
Jungkook was silent for a few seconds as his hand dropped from his mouth. Then, ever so slowly, he raised his hand so his finger pointed upwards.
"Alright. Well what's the matter?" Yoongi plonked himself down beside him. "You looked stressed."
"You weren't here when I woke up. I got worried." The younger responded, rather quickly. He then changed the subject. "Are you hungry? I would've made breakfast but I don't know how."
"Starving. Come on," Yoongi lightly slapped Jungkook's thigh, "I'll teach you how to make omelette."
Yoongi watched intently as Jungkook fumbled to flip the egg. His gaze switched from the frying pan to the boy's face. He was frowning, the tip of his tongue poking out from between his lips as he concentrated. Too distracted by his expression, Yoongi didn't notice that he successfully flipped the omelette; the only indication was the transition in expressions he witnessed. He smiled in response as Jungkook's eyes lit up and he smiled widely.
"I did it!" He exclaimed as he looked up at the older male. "Look, I made an omelette."
"Looks good, Kookie." Both their smiles grew. After waiting a few minutes to make sure it was cooked through, he spoke up again. "Wanna go eat it now, see if it's as good as it tastes?"
Jungkook nodded, rather enthusiastically, and Yoongi took over as he transferred it onto a plate. Grabbing two pairs of chopsticks, they headed over to the table. All memories of his morning so far were forgotten as Yoongi and Jungkook shared the omelette. The younger was in a surprisingly good mood, the older male noted as he listened to him chatter away about absolutely mundane things. He'd spotted the neighbour emerge earlier to collect his mail; a bird had hopped around the window; and he'd seen an ad with Taehyung in it.
If you took out the Namjoon, the morning turned out to be not so bad after all.

Starting to think I might have some subconscious obsession with omelettes
I rushed to finish this chapter because I thought mum said we'd watch supernatural now, only to have to sit through another episode of Gilmore Girls... Jared Padalecki's appearances are like teasers or something, I dunno. I don't know why I'm rambling about this either. I'll shut up now.
Shutting up.
