Emma's POV
"I don't understand how this even became a bloody tradition, Swan. It's freezing!"Killian complained as we made our way through the crowded streets of Storybrooke.
I roll my eyes and glance back at him making my heart skip a beat,"Stop complaining pirate and help me get to the front." He grumbles something under his breath but comes in front of me splitting the crowd in half like the Red Sea.
"Alright Moseph, take the lead."I chuckle getting a tighter grip on his warm hand. He throws a confused look back over his shoulder but doesn't question it. I'll explain it to him later.
About 2 years ago Henry got the idea of dropping our own ball in Storybrooke and having the connections he has the plans started in less than 4 months. Regina was all for it, thinking it would raise spirits in town after our trip to the Underworld and their Savior becoming dark. She's really come a long way and we couldn't be anymore proud.
"It this what you wanted, love?"Killian asks as he pulls me to the front of the crowd. I didn't even know half these people lived here and I'm the sheriff! I push the thought aside and look up to see the giant, illuminated crystal ball shining above the city like a full moon.
I smile widely making my lips tingle with bits of joy and excitement. "Yes."is all I can say as I take in the crystal timer. He smirks and glances up at it before kissing my cheek sweetly,"Happy-"
My finger on his perfect lips stops him from finishing his statement. "Don't, you can't say it yet. It's only,"I glance up at the clock,"11:57. Ya gotta wait until 12:00, it's the rules."I smirk as he pouts in disbelieve.
"Bloody traditions."he mutters looking up at the ball. With a sly smirk and a quick motion of him pulling me closer his favorite part of the New Year begins. It wasn't a traditional tradition or anyone other person's for that matter but we had started it last year.
Taking this little time, I soak in the beanie and dark jacket I had persuaded him to wear in. His eyes were the brightest shade of blue and his stubble was slightly more grown out along with his hair but I loved it. Moments of me playing with his dark locks and trimming his beard flash through my head in seconds. He was truly the handsomest man alive, apart from my Dad of course, and I had the honor of calling him mine.
"My news resolution is to love you unconditionally, treat you like the Princess you are, find a way to make you blush so beautifully everyday, and create my own spot in your heart."he says in one breath making tears rush to my eyes. Adjusting the beanie on my head he kisses the tip of my nose.
No one person, not Graham or even Neal, had ever made me so emotion to the point where it was annoying. I loved Killian to death but gosh he always found a way to make me feel soft and mushy inside. Like some little school girl who had a crush on the popular boy. It was wonderfully annoyingly perfect.
I smile and wipe a frozen tear off my cheek,"Gosh Killian..."I laugh nervously trying to mask up my sudden
nerves. An adorable smile makes its way onto his tempting pink lips,"Your turn, love."
Wiping the last water works off my cheeks I mentally shake my head, removing everything except Killian. "My New Years resolution is to take off my armor, love you more deeply, and take the next step with you."I manage to say over the sudden roar of the crowd.
We both look up to see the countdown beginning. 10, 9, 8, 7.... Killian smiles his dashing, stomach turning smile before leaning forward towards my ear,"May I say it now, Princess?"he asks sending delicious shivers down my back.
A smile as big as Jupiter forms as I nod,"Definitely." He grins and says those 3 words he'd been dying to say since Christmas. 3, 2, 1. But before I can say it back he leans forward and connects our lips in probably the best kiss we'd ever had. His hands hold my hips in place as mine cup his cheeks depending the kiss.
Whistles and cheers are heard around us but we don't care. It seemed as if we were in our little bubble that no villain or even hero could break through. Making a sound mixed between a chuckle and snort in the back of his throat Killian is the first to pull back just as my lungs plead for air.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
