"...But, who are you and who's Gray?"
Natsu froze to his spot and his whole body went stiff. 'Gray lost his memory? he doesn't know who I am, he doesn't know his own name...'
Natsu got off the confused looking ice mage and apologized while helping him up off the floor. "do you seriously not know who I am?"
Gray shook his head to say no, Natsu sighed and he could feel tears welling up in his eyes but he pushed his emotions away thinking 'it's no use to cry anymore, he's alive and I will get his memories to return' "My name is Natsu, and you're name is Gray."
"Oh, So I'm the Gray you mentioned before."
Natsu nodded.
"Why were you so excited to see me? Are we friends?"
Natsu flinched and said "yes, best friends.." Gray looked down and Natsu's expressions turned sad. "We were also more than that, we were lovers..." Gray's head shot up to look at Natsu with a shocked expression.
"We were?"
Natsu nodded "And we have a son.." Gray's eyes widened even more.
"w-we do? but you're not a girl..." Gray looked confused once again and Natsu sighed.
"8 years ago I accidentally drank a magic potion which turned me into a girl, you said it didn't matter whether I was a girl or not because I was still me, we...did some things, I got pregnant and had our son and then soon after I changed back into a male" (AN-This is what I changed in the first chapter)
Gray looked down once again. "What's our son's name?"
"Silver."
Gray looked as if he was thinking about everything and it took a while before he opened his mouth to speak. "How do I know you're not playing a trick on me?"
Natsu reached into the pocket of his pants and pulled out a small picture. "This is a picture that one of our friends took at a party our Guild had not too long ago." The dragon slayer handed the small picture to the ice mage. Gray took it and stared at the three figures in it, One was Natsu. The fire mage moved closer and pointed out who they were and listed the names. He pointed to himself first, "This is me...right here is you....and this is Silver."
In the picture Gray was giving Natsu a kiss on the cheek with Silver sitting on the ice mage's shoulders.
Gray's eyes became misty and it was soon hard for him to see anything, he sat down on the bed and his hands began to shake. "I-I want t-to remember you..I-I want to r-remember him!"
Natsu's heart broke once again and he didn't hesitate to bring the ice mage into a tight embrace. Gray stiffened a little but let the fire mage hug him.
"We'll get your memories back, that I promise you."
After Gray calmed down, Natsu let go and sat next to him, as he did so the healer walked into the room to check on Gray and when he saw the ice mage sitting up on the bed his eyes widened in surprise, the he smiled. "Ah you're finally awake! how are you feeling?"
Gray looked at the healer wondering who he was. "I'm feeling okay...but who are you?"
The healer looked at him confused for a moment before turning to Natsu who answered his silent question "He's lost his memory."
"Ah, Please come with me...I might be able to help..You may come as well Natsu...or you can go call your Guild and let them know that Mr. Fullbuster has woken up."
Natsu looked at Gray who's eyes held a silent plea for him to come along. "I'll come with you. I can call everyone later." The healer nodded and walked ahead. Natsu grabbed hold of Grays hand and followed behind.
They came to a large wooden door, The healer opened the door revealing a large room filled with books and magic potions. Gray was told to sit down on the small couch in the room while the healer disappeared behind a few bookshelves to an area that Natsu couldn't see. Gray seemed a little uncomfortable in the room but who wouldn't be while being surrounded by a bunch of unknown potions in a strange place.
The healer came back several minutes later holding a vile with a blueish purpleish looking liquid inside, he held it out to the ice mage and told him to drink it. Gray was hesitant and looked toward Natsu for confirmation, the dragon slayer nodded so Gray took the vile and drank the liquid inside, he handed the vile back to the healer with a disgusted look on his face.
"What the hell was that??" Gray wiped his mouth.
"you don't want to know kid, but it should bring your memories back, it has a 99 percent chance of working but if it doesn't you will just have to wait and see if they return naturally." The healer explained.
"How long will it take to find out if his memories return?" Natsu asked.
"around 24 hours at max. It could be anytime at all but you'll definitely know in 24 hours"
"Would it be alright if we stayed one more night?"
"Of course, I don't mind one bit" The healer smiled and Natsu smiled as well.
Natsu and Gray both bowed and said thank you before leaving to their room. During the rest of the day Gray had asked a bunch of questions on everything he could think of asking and Natsu answered every single one of them happily.
After a few hours of Natsu telling small stories on the Guild and everyone there Gray became sleepy so Natsu told him to go to sleep, when he did Natsu got up to call the Guild. Mira answered the call this time.
"Hello Natsu!"
"Hey Mira. I have some good news and some bad news...Which do you want first?" Natsu asked.
Mira thought for a moment before answering "Good please.."
"alright, well Gray woke up today.." Natsu smiled a little and Mira's face lit up with joy, until she saw Natsu's smiled fade and remembered that he also had some bad news to share
"Natsu, What's the other news...?"
"Gray lost his memory..."
Mira was shocked and almost began crying but Natsu said something else that gave her hope. "The healer that healed Gray gave him a potion that could bring back his memory..even though it has a 1 percent chance of fail there's also a 99 percent chance it will work. We will find out in 24 hours so Gray's now sleeping and hopefully when he wakes up he will have his memories back.."
Mira smiled a little "I hope so. When will you be coming home?"
"Tomorrow. whether he has his memories or not we are coming home tomorrow."
Mira nodded "Okay, I know we will all be excited to have you back but not as much as a certain raven haired little boy" She smiled sweetly and Natsu smiled as well.
"I'll be excited to see him too as well as everyone. Well I'm going to head to bed now, can you pass this message on to everyone else please?"
"Of course, Sleep well!" With that the connection cut off, Natsu sighed before getting up making his way to his bed, once his head hit the pillow he was out like a light.
The next day Natsu woke up with a nervous feeling in his stomach 'What if his memories don't return...Will they ever?' he pushed those thoughts away and sat up, he looked over at Gray's bed to find him still fast asleep.
Natsu watched Gray for a while until the ice mage stirred in his bed, Natsu adverted his eyes as Gray woke up.
Gray sat up on the bed and stretched while yawning and wiped the sleep from his eyes. "Morning Gray." The ice mage nearly jumped off the bed when the voice spoke, he whipped his head in the direction of the voice and looked into worried brown eyes
"Oh, Morning Natsu." Gray smiled slightly.
"do you remember anything?" Natsu asked suddenly.
it took Gray a minute to answer but when he did Natsu's face fell. "No"
Gray felt bad when he saw that Natsu's face was now holding a sad expression, he didn't mean to make Natsu sad but what was he supposed to say...
"I'm sorry.."
"No, Gray, Don't apologize..It's not your fault...Maybe your memories will come back later on their own. " He gave the ice mage a fake smile before looking away "I'm going to go pack up..We're going home later today..." The fire mage stood up and walked over to grab his things and put them into his knapsack.
Gray watched as Natsu packed everything up and he decided to as well, Natsu finished while Gray was still looking for his bag so the fire mage came over and helped him.
The healer came into the room after they had finished packing up, he asked the same question Natsu had asked and received the same answer. the man looked down and sighed as well as wishing them good luck. They then said their farewells, Natsu thanked the man for all his help and hospitality before heading to the train station. They boarded the train and sat on opposite sides of the booth.
Natsu had instantly become sick but he kept his head towards the window while thinking.
Gray couldn't stop staring at Natsu, only when the fire mage looked in his direction did he look away. They made occasional small talk but neither of them could keep a conversation going , Mostly because if Natsu opened his mouth he would puke everywhere.
They made it back to Magnolia and once the train stopped they both got off. They walked to the Guild in silence, but once they reached the doors Natsu sighed, Gray looked over at him, Natsu looked down.
"I wish I didn't have to tell Silver you lost your memories...It'll break his heart to know you forgot him..."
Gray grinned and looked at Natsu and then wrapped his arms around the shorted male and placed a kiss to his temple. Natsu's eyes widened and Gray whispered in his ear. "It's okay, you don't have to tell him anything of the sort, I actually regained my memories an hour ago."
Natsu gasped and his face turned red from anger, he threw Gray away from him and shouted "You little shit!!"
Gray stood there scratching the back of his neck with a 'I'm sorry expression'. Natsu Kicked him and sent him flying into the guild hall. Everyone's eyes fell on the ice mage and then at an angry looking Natsu coming through the Guild doorway.
"Natsu! What the hell!?" Erza shouted
"Oh hey Erza" Gray waved to her as he stood up.
Erza looked at him with a confused expression "Do you remember me?"
Gray nodded and everyone smiled but cleared out of the way as Natsu stomped up to Gray.
"I'm gunna beat the shit out of you ya stupid popsicle!! I can't believe you didn't tell me!!"
Lucy covered Silver's ears and pulled him from the fight and so he couldn't see it.
Every one laughed as Natsu and Gray fought each other just like old times. After the fight ended Natsu walked over to the bar and asked for some fire chicken to which Mira gladly gave him.
"We're glad you're back Natsu! And that Gray has his memories again!" She smiled at him
"Thanks Mira! I'm glad as well! Now where's my son??"
"Over with Lucy!"
Natsu nodded and ate his meal then he got up and made his way over to Lucy who pulled him into a hug as soon as she saw the fire mage.
"Welcome back!"
"Thanks Lucy" Natsu smiled.
Silver pretty much tackled the fire mage in a hug, he was also crying but they were happy tears. "Daddy I missed you!!"
Natsu picked up the boy and hugged him tightly. "I missed you too." The whole guild watched the two with loving eyes. Gray noticed and took this chance to walk up to Natsu and wrap his arms around him and his son.
Silver noticed Gray sneaking up behind them and was about to shout out to him but the ice mage put his finger to his lips and shook his head to let his son know not to say a word, once he was close enough he wrapped his arms around Natsu from the side so he could also hug Silver.
"I missed you too Papa!"
"Missed you too bud." Gray ruffled the boys hair. Natsu put silver down on the ground and Gray took another chance.
The ice mage wrapped his arms arms around the dragon slayer and dipped him while giving him a passionate kiss on the lips. Lucy covered Silver's eyes and the entire male portion of the guild whistled while the entire girl portion squealed, yes even Erza.
Natsu blushed like mad when Gray parted and stood him back up, he tried to cover his face with his scarf but his attempt didn't work and Gray chuckled which caused more laughs to break out in the guild, Natsu glared at everyone who laughed but that only made them laugh more.
"I take it you two got back together?" Lucy asked after uncovering Silver's eyes.
"Yup!" Gray said gladly.
"Oh shut up..." Natsu said while still blushing.
"I love you Natsu"
"Yeah whatever...I love you to ya stupid ice cube"
Everyone shared more laughter and the remainder of the day went by full of happiness.
