Luna next woke up to shouts coming from the hallway. Her mother was gone now and she was alone. She got up and peeked outside. Guards ran past her hurriedly hardly even noticing her. Alarms were blaring from everywhere. Luna was stumbling about in the hall in her night gown. She finally made her way down the stairs and again down and watched as more and more guards went running every which way. When she finally made it too the front door she saw them. Troops of Royal Guards and even civilians were running toward the inner gate. She couldn't quite see what was owing on. She moved to step out when a hand caught her shoulder and pulled her back in.
"Luna! What are you doing?!"
"I want to know what's going on, Aegan! Let me go!"
"You don't want to know, Luna! Now go back to bed!"
"NO!" She smashed his foot and he released her. She took off out the door and ran as fast as she could to the gates.
She couldn't see much as she tried squeezing between the crowds of people and torches. She could, however, hear. She could hear Philip's voice as he yelled "Release the dogs!" And she could hear the sounds of the cages opening and dogs barking and growling and the dirt went flying with every bound they made.
Some men followed as they disappeared into the forest. Luna's view was still partially blocked when Philip was suddenly behind her.
"What are you doing you stupid child?!"
"Who is that?! Why did you send out the dogs?!"
"He chose his fate." He said picking her up and throwing her over his shoulder.
"Who?!"
He didn't answer. She fought him hard but she was no match. Philip was far too powerful for her. Once he'd gotten through the door he dropped her on to the floor and shut the door behind him.
"What is wrong with you?!" He shouted "Do you have a death wish?!"
Luna began to cry.
"That thing killed your sister! Tried to kill me! Hurt Rosmany AND YOU!"
"Atlis?" She gasped out "This was about Atlis? You - the dogs..."
"Yes, that little brat broke out and tried to run away from his punishment. If anything the dogs are too good for him. I'm sure they've made him their meal by now."
"No!" She leapt for the door. Philip caught her and threw her back down. Their their siblings had begun to gather around the scene.
"Why do you CARE?! He's done nothing but bring death and hurt to this family! He's the reason you want to leave us! Why Isabella is DEAD! And you still think him innocent!- Noble!- like he can do no wrong!
"That's enough Philip!"
Philip immediately stopped and stepped back from Luna.
"Off to bed, all of you." Their mother paused watching them. "Now!"
They all turned to the stairs and walked silently to their rooms.
"Mama, it cant be true ..." Luna sobbed through her tears.
"I'm so sorry Little Luna." She looked up at Philip who had not moved.
"You are never to speak to her that way, do you hear me?"
"Yes, mother."
"Good now off to bed."
She picked up still crying in her arms and took her back up stairs to her room. She stayed there and sang to her until she fell asleep. It was the same one that Atlis would always sing.
