UNEDITED SORRY
Silver and Cole shared worried glances as I stood up from my seat. Not even a second had gone by when they each ran opposite directions, Silver taking me with her. She rushed me to the end of the staircase.
"Go inside my room and lock it, don't open it unless you hear five repeated knocks. If you here my mom or keys go inside the closet, lock it, and don't make a sound okay?" Silver spoke, way to fast.
I didn't get to respond because she was already running in the direction Cole had went to. Following her orders, I ran up the steps. Of course with my luck I would stumble on my dress and trip. I caught myself on the rail, and continued my dash to safety. I yanked open Silver's room door before slamming it closed and locking it. I was breathing hard as I slid down the back of the door. For some reason I felt cold...
I got up off the floor to go get the throw blanket off of Silver's bed, but I stumbled. I felt unbalanced. I looked forward into the mirror and gasped. I was one heel short! Where had it gone?
"Oh-no. Oh-no." I repeated looking all over for the shoe, but stopped in my tracks as I heard the familiar feminine voice.
"Whose heel is that?" The twin's mom asked. My ear was pressed against Silver's bedroom door.
"Ugh, mine!" Silver responded, her voice higher than usual.
"Silver, honey, you don't wear heels."
"Ugh, ugh, ugh-"
"She just bought it!" Cole saved his sister.
"You guys know we don't have the money for that. Is there someone here? A friend? A rich friend? Oh please tell me it's a rich friend?" Their mother almost sounded... excited?
"Oh, the friend is rich alright." Cole snorts a laughter.
"Huh?"
"Ugh..." Silver can't lie for her life.
After that I started to here footsteps getting louder and louder.
"Mum wait!" Cole yelled. Mum?
"Mum?" His mother echoed my thoughts. Ha-ha he used my word, atta boy! I laughed a little.
"What was that?" Their mother demanded.
"What was what?"
"That laugh."
"What laugh?"
"The one I just heard!"
"There was no laugh."
"Damn it Cole!" I heard a 'ouch' and then the footsteps, no stomping, get louder. I stepped away from the door as I saw the golden doorknob turn.
"I hear heels! Whose in this room?" Their mother's voice was loud. Then I heard the footsteps getting more and more faint.
"Mom, what are you looking for?" Silver found her voice again.
"My keys."
Oh-no, no, no! I quickly took off my heel, sliding it deep under Silver's bed before running into the closet. I pushed and pushed, trying to pull myself into the narrow closet but something was blocking me from doing so. It was then I realized that my dress had a cage underneath it. Damn it, damn it, damn it! I heard the footsteps of their mother once again. I lifted myself to reveal the cage holding my dress. Now, how do you get out of this thing? The footsteps were getting louder. I sat on my ass and kicked my legs out in front of me, hoping it will cause the cage to slide off my legs. Successfully it slid off pretty simply and I quickly dashed to the closet. Since the top layer, otherwise known as the bulgy layer, had ripped a little I easily slipped on it. The footsteps had come to a halt and I heard the jingle of keys again. I quickly got inside the closet and locked it. I stopped breathing when I heard the door open and the foot steps walk in. I feel like I'm in a freaking horror movie.
"No mom!"
"Mom wait!" Silver and Cole's rambling subsided when they realized that I was out of sight.
"Oh I thought I heard-the fuck is that?" There mom's voiced raised into chipmunk territory.
"Is wha-Oh." Silver cut herself off.
"Is that a cage?" Shit! I forgot to hide it. Oopsie daisy...
"A what?"
"The expensive thing used to go under dresses. Really bulgy dresses, like Princess Alexia's."
"Well its sure not hers, how would we even get hers? It's not like we went to the Dinner, kidnapped her-" The rest of Silver's statement was muffled.
"What she meant to say is her rich friend from school, Daisy, let her borrow it so she could play with it." Cole saves the day once again.
"Yea, Daisy...She's a cool girl..."
"Just Shut up, Silver."
"I'm so confused! I'm taking a shower." Their mom declared, leaving the room. The door was slammed shut and was immediately locked.
"Alexia? She's gone you can come out now." I open the door and emerge from the closet. Once they find me, their jaws drop to the floor.
"What?"
"Woah." Cole scanned me.
"You look...amazing." Silver smiles.
"What?" I repeat. Silver pushes me to the mirror. In the mirror stands a pale girl with long orange hair. Her green eyes are big, full of curiosity. Her pink lips are turned up, forming a small smile.
I look further down and realize what the twins were gawking at. Under the hideous top layer of my dress I pulled off, is a beautiful silky bottom one. The top of my dress is fitted and at my waist the silk layer shows, swaying with my every movement I make.
"Oh my god!" I gasp. The dress looks beautiful! It shows off curves I didn't even know I had.
"You have one sexy figure! People die to have a hourglass figure. Well it's more like a wine glass. You have a small ass but your breasts are per-"
"Shut up!" I wail as Silver laughs.
"It's like a perfect handful-Ow!" Silver yelps and grasps her shin, that I had recently kicked. I examined myself some more, suddenly feeling self-conscious of my breasts.
"Do you think it's too much cleavage?"
"No, what cup are you? 'D'?"
"No, 'C'."
"Lucky! I'm still an 'A'." She pouts.
"Ugh, well I'm a just skedaddle..." Cole awkwardly attempts to walk away before his sister pulls him over to me. I forgot he was here...
"Nope your going to help me transform her."
"Transform me?"
"Transform her?"
"It's to late. It's like six pm." I point out.
"Alright fine, tomorrow then. First thing in the morning, you come to my room, okay Cole." Silver points a finger at Cole. Cole nods before leaving the room with a yawn. Almost a second later I yawn, then Silver yawns. After we finish laughing, we say our goodbyes.
Once their mom, whose name I found out was Jenn, was done with the shower, Silver and I had took one. Silver let me borrow some pajama shorts, that kept giving me murphys, and a tank top. Since Silver had a full bed we were both able to fit in it.
I was on the verge of sleep when Silver spoke. Her voice was soft and low.
"The dress I was wearing was my best friend's. I like to wear it sometimes because it reminds me of her, yeah, she was really poor. Her mother and her died in the back of a taxi car, caused by a drunk driver. Don't insult it again please."
"I'm so sorry I didn't know. Hey, why are you telling me this?"
"Goodnight." She muttered and soft snores followed that.
~~~
"Wake up!" I feel something heavy on me. I slowly open my eyes to see Cole's sparkling eyes before a pillow smacks me in the face.
"What the hell?" I yell. I remove the pillow to see Cole sat on my stomach laughing. He gets off me before jumping off the bed and stands next to a smiling Silver.
"Make-over time! Go sit at my vanity. Cole, pick out some cute clothes for her!" Cole makes his way to Silver's closet as Silver ushers me to sit on a stool in front of a vanity. She applies light make-up to my face.
"What are we going to do about your hair?" She asks.
"We could straighten it." I suggest and Silver claps her hands and squeals. I'll take that as a 'ok'.
A few minutes later...
"You look gorgeous! Look, look!" Silver spins me around in my chair. I smile at my appearance. My straight hair rests on my chest below my made-up face. I did look gorgeous.
"Thanks Silver!"
"Anytime sista!" She giggles flipping her blonde hair. Soon after Cole comes out with clothes in his hands.
"Here." Cole drops the clothes onto my lap before walking out.
"Change into that and call us when your done." Silver tells me. I nod my head and she leaves the room.
A few more minutes later...
"I look like a freaking stripper!" I yell at Silver. Cole is bent over laughing, no sound coming from his open mouth.
"No you don't, you look fine."
I am wearing a crop top that ends above my belly button and shorts that don't fully cover my ass.
"No, I don't!"
"Ugh fine." Silver stomps her way to her closet, throwing clothes everywhere before throwing me some jeans. The twins leave again so I could tug on the denim, blue high-waited jeans. They actually look really good with this crop top. I open the door and pose for the two.
"Oo girl, you look sexy." Silver looks me up and down.
"Sexy?"
"D-D-Did I s-s-stutter?"
"Yes." Silver laughs. "Is that good?"
"Of course! Why wouldn't it?"
"I don't know. It's just a strong word."
"What?"
"Never mind."
"Your making no sense what-so-ever." Silver places a hand on her hip. I just shake my head, causing some hair to fly in my face.
"Anyway, are we going to go or what?" Cole huffs.
"Go where now?" I question.
"A place." The two lead me downstairs and out the front door. Silver was wearing a skirt with a loose Tee tucked into it. She should be a fashion designer when she grows up.
"Oh, here." Cole removes his sunglasses from his shirt an tosses them to me.
"Why?"
"Just put it on."
"But there for guys."
"So?"
"I am a wo-" Cole snatches the glasses from me before slowly sliding them in front of my eyes. He's really close, way close, too close. Before thinking I gently push his chest.
"Well, damn. I was just putting your sunglasses on, no, this is what I get for being nice to you."
I roll my eyes and we walk in silence, looking for Silver who had disappeared during our conversation.
"Where did she-"
"Hey!" I look ahead to see the familiar girl who was chewing gum during my mother's speech. She had brown skin, dark brown curled hair, and a 'sexy' body. 'Sexier' than mine. Wait, does this make me lesbian?
"Jess!" Cole smiles as the girl gives him a quick hug.
"Cole, whose that?" The girl who I saw scowling points a finger to me. She's a Latino girl with long brown hair, dark brown eyes, and 'don't mess with me, bitch' written on her forehead. Next to her the boy I saw. He was an average Asian male with a killer smile. He was hot, I'll give him that. After he 'man-hugged' Cole he noticed me.
"Hey, who are you?"
"Alex-"
"Yep, Alex. Just Alex." Cole gave me a look.
"Say, Alex you look kind of like the princess."
"Well, I'd hope so-"
"Modest are we?" Cole fake chuckled while glaring at me. Wait, was he calling me cute?
"Well, the boy came up to me and held out his hand. "I'm Kaito and I fuck bitches for a living." Kaito laughs. I cautiously step away, feeling uncomfortable around him. Without thinking I grab Cole's arm for comfort. He raises an eyebrow at me, but I ignore it.
"Hi! I'm Jess!" Jess walks up to me with a big smile. I smile back at her. "That thing over there," She points to 'long-hair-don't-care' who was currently texting someone. "Is Tatiana."
"Oh, like the princess!" I laugh.
"Say that to her and you'll get your ass beat." Jess says seriously.
"Oh.." Jess throws her arm over my shoulder. She leans closer to me.
"So, your Cole's girl?" She whispers. I lean back to examine her face. She was dead serious.
"Hell no." She laughs and squeezes my shoulder. She looks to Cole and seems to be mouthing something. Cole gives her a lazy look and shakes his head to which she responds with a laugh. I have no idea what that was all about, but Cole walks up to me and grabs my forearm.
"We have to go." He states.
"No, stay longer." Tatiana's voice is monotone and flat, no emotion once so ever. Kaito elbows her lightly as Jess sighs. They all say goodbye and Cole and I make our way down the street. It's silent and just a little bit awkward. I push my hair behind my ear to take a peek at him. His blonde hair bounces with every step he takes and his lips are forming a smirk.
"What is funny?" I ask.
"'Like the princess'" He snickers.
"What's funny about that?"
"Oh, nothing."
I frown. What was so funny about my comment back there? Is being compared to a Disney Princess bad, I thought it would be considered a compliment. We walk down several blocks filled with houses and shops until we face a huge building. Cole puts a hand on my shoulder to stop me from walking into the building as he digs in his pocket for his phone. He taps the screen a few times before placing it at his ear.
"Where at the mall. Mhmm. Yea, were right next to the entrance. Okay. Bye." Cole puts his phone back in his pocket as Silver and a unfamiliar guy approaches us.
"Why did you leave us?" I ask Silver, who was smiling like an idiot.
"I don't like Cole's friends." She shrugs before returning her attention to the boy beside her by grasping his hand.
"Alex-"
"Just Alex." Cole interrupts his sister. Silver stares at him for a while before her mouth forms an 'O' and she nods her head.
"Alex this is Deacon, Deacon this is Alex." Silver introduces me to the boy. I hold out my hand and he gladly shakes it. He is a tall guy, with thick brown hair to match his hazel eyes and wears all black. I smile at him politely and he smirks in respond. Do all guys just smirk, don't they know how to smile? I avert my attention to Silver who is gawking at Deacon.
"So, why are we here?"
"To have fun!" She giggles. "There is laser tag on the second floor. You guys want to go?" Silver is literally bouncing up and down in excitement. I nod and the guys' grunt responds. Us four make our way throughout the massive mall, Silver's arm linked with mine. There are thousands of commoners around us chatting very loudly, probably about what's in the bags they're holding. There are stores on either sides of us with beautiful clothes displayed inside. When we get to the second floor, Silver dashes to a dark-looking store.
When I walk inside the words 'Laser Tag' are glowing in the darkness. Silver goes up to a man behind the counter as Cole, Deacon, and I take a seat. I sit make sure to sit next to Deacon so I could get to know my friend's boyfriend.
"So, how long have you and Silver been together?"
"Ugh, two days." He shrugs, pulling out his phone.
"Two days?"
"Two days." He confirms. Just two days? I thought they would have been together for more than a year by the way Silver looks at him.
"You like her...a lot?"
"Eh.."
"Eh?"
"Eh.."
"What do you mean 'eh' you guys are in a relationship?"
"I'm just testing the waters you know."
"Testing the waters me ass!"
"Alex, people are staring." Deacon nudges me. I look around and other teens are indeed staring at me. I sink in my chair before shooting daggers at him.
"This conversation isn't over." I whisper. Silver comes back and ushers us into another dark room. There, a projector plays a video on the rules of the game. After that another door slides open and we go into a hallway to put on the vests with the lasers attached to it. We were told to point the laser at the red dot on the back and front of a person's vest to earn a point. Cole was on my team and Deacon and Silver were our opponents. I smiled a wicked smile at Cole to which he returned.
"Were going to beat their-"
"asses." Cole finished for me.
As the last door slid open we all ran in opposite directions. I hid behind some glowing wall and pointed my laser all around me. I hear foot steps and I see a shadow so I point my gun in the direction of the person. My finger is grazing the button to allow the laser to go off. The person is walking way to slow for my liking, the suspense is killing me. As soon as the red dot on the opponents visible I push the button and a noise goes off telling me I got him. Deacon turns around and frowns, shooting his laser in my directions until he gets me. I groan and run away from him.
"Not so fast!" He yells. I laugh as run in different directions. I crawl behind a small wall and when Deacon runs by I point my laser at him, the noise of victory goes off. Just as Deacon turns around, I hid my whole body behind the wall, stifling a laugh. I crawl behind the wall aimlessly; just trying to get away from Deacon. I stopped abruptly as I bumped into someone's ass. I instantly bring my gun up and shoot the person, the other person does the same and our noises go off at the same time. I look up and realize it was just Cole.
"Aw, damn it! We just gave them a free point." Cole huffs. I laugh at how seriously he's taking the game. While I was laughing and Cole was pouting we didn't realize our two enemies were behind us as they got a free shot at both of us. I looked up and immediately aimed at a laughing Silver as Cole aimed at Deacon. Deacon and Silver than quickly ran away holding hands, laughing, like the happy couple they were. I couldn't help but stare while smiling like an idiot at the place they had gone off too.
"Let's go!" Cole smiles at me. I nod and follow him.
I couldn't find Cole anymore, he had run off somewhere. I was crouching down as I made my way past the twists and turns of the dark maze. U held my laser gun in my hand, clutching onto it for dear life. I hear a noise, I peeked past a corner and gasped. There the couple was, making out in the dark. Silver's arms were wrapped around Deacon's neck and Deacon's hands were resting on her...ass...
"What's wrong?" I heard Cole whisper from behind me. I looked back and met his blue eyes. I jerked my head in the direction of the couple and Cole's grip on his laser gun tightened. He stood up and shot the back of Silver's vest. The noise the gun made caused the couple to jump away from each other. Well, Silver did, Deacon just stayed there.
"Why did you ruin their moment?" I accuse Cole.
"Keep your hands up north." Cole scolds Deacon who shrugs.
We all got out of our vests to go look at who won.
I jump and scream as I see 'Team 2 are the winners' flash on the neon screen above us. The couple groan as I do my happy dance and Cole does some kind of dance with his shoulders wile repeating "Aye".
Silver claps her hands to get our attention, "You may have won me playing laser tag, but what about paint ball?" She smirks.
