Modest spoonfuls were shared between them as the smooth vanilla ice cream froze their tastebuds. Sunlight creeped through the windows of the small shop.

Louis pulled his blood-red lips between his teeth as he analyzed Violet's euphoric state of being.

"I'm in the mood for a careless escape," she said while dramatically stretching her arms behind her head.

"Well, Violet, what's something you've never done before?"

"Camping."

Louis tilted his head to the side and squinted one eye while he sat in thought.

"Bold. I like it."

The two left the parlor in search of the necessities for their adventure. Apparel was packed, food was stored, bug spray was parceled, and the back seat suffocated by a tent and blankets. They were off into the vivid depths carved inside an upstate forest.

As the ride carried on, Violet's heart melted contently in sync with the conversation. Louis' fingers carefully gripped Violet's thigh; but his mind traveled to other places.

'Don't hurt her,' Louis' conscience continuously prompted.

He forced a smile and looked into the eyes of the woman he passionately adored for solace.

It helped.

She helped.

The engine was killed and Violet's opened her door to inhale the pine-scented property. Her mind envisaged more miraculously than a mind with unclothed eyes.

Armfuls of wood were brought to the seen. It took a while to set sparks free, since neither of them had much experience. The luminescent stars sitting in the sky and the crystallized gleams and glows of the fire proved to be the only source of light flowing in front of the pair. If you were to discard the thirsty mosquitoes and the unwanted pests of the night, it was a beautiful scene.

Violet decided to take in one last acknowledgement of the pine, and hold close to someone that smelled like mint tea and soft, clean brooks pivoting through dodgy hills.

They seemed to always find each other when they needed them the most; for that's what passion is. Needing someone. Never having them too little, or too much.

Crinkles cursed their faces and plump cheeks began to mentally throb from smiling. Chilled water encircled their legs and the slimy moss threatened to stumble their bodies. The river caused their teeth move with a shaky chattering.

Violet imprints lingered across the sand as she ran and jumped into Louis' arms. She couldn't see him, but faith was a defining evaluate tattooed to her bones, and never to be removed. She knew he would always be there for her. And what is faith if you use your eyes?

Louis lunged his arms up and swung Violet around to watch her nose seam up between her eyes.

His lips encountered her ear.

"I would never hurt you."

"I know." She believed him.

-

She told him she loved him that calendered night. It didn't last.

He was uncomfortable and speechless. Hurt, almost.

Realities buzzed in his head. He was confused.

A bantam mumble ignited, burning in his throat.

"No you don't."
