This will be a warning. If you think this is too dark, leave. (for your own good. :p)
Four years earlier
Ares hummed the chilling tune of 'Through the tulips'. He loved that song because it somehow reminded him of his mother's love for him. His mother used to sing that song for him while taking care of him.
Speaking of mothers, he has a mother to kill.
"Where are you, Mrs. Collins?" He mocked the woman who was hiding behind the dumpster, shaking. But it's all a facade, for Ares, because for him–Demons are the worst creatures ever. They're manipulative and selfish monsters.
And his duty is to get rid of those pests. Half-demon or pure. They're all the same.
Ares giggled, but his blood ran cold when the woman bravely grabbed a garbaged butter-knife and 'tried' to attack him.
He dodged it.
"So funny." He giggled, but he was feeling the opposite. Demons bore him; worthless creatures–He thought. He loved playing with Demons' minds. It's fun to play with the manipulator.
The woman cries out in exasperation, "I'm innocent. I haven't fed in months!"
The mother's eyes were dull, her skin tone is yellow-ish and her bones are visible. But demons are all liars. They couldn't live without feedings. They're born-monsters.
"I have a son! He'll grow up without a mother! How-how-Please spare my life! You're somebody's child, D-do you have a mother? Imagine l-losing your moth-" Ares slapped her across the cheek.
"Mama's alive." Ares pouted, "Mama will always be here forever with me."
And Ares has a promise: He'll be good for mama.
"She's not gonna be here forever, k-kid. Stop playing games w-with me! It's not a funny joke." Her tone changing in fear; her heartbeat fastened. The way he looked at her intimidates her, they held nothing. They're empty. She can't believe that a mere 8 year old can do things like this.
She tried, tried to feed from the kid. But he was. . .different. He was trained. The way he moves, he looks like he's one of those students. The top10 of the institude: skilled killers. He was breathtakingly strong for his age.
She closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face. She imagined his son, all grown-up, without her.
"Do it. Just promise me, you won't hurt my son." She painfully requested. She'll do anything to protect her son.
Ares thought for a moment. "Hmm. I don't make promises." The moment he said that, her eyes snapped open but it was blocked when a knife invaded her vision. And before she knew it, she was on the floor, bleeding, with a knife between her eyes.
Ares laughed, kneeling down and pulled the knife. He wiped the blood off and began his journey to find her son.
"Whoops," He walked backwards and began to cut her chest open to get her heart. "Mama will be so proud of me!"
He did fist-pumps. He'll do anything to make mama proud.

The boy bounced across the sidewalk, with a seemingly innocent smile painted on his lips. His dark eyes were lovely and you can get lost trying to read the emotions dancing in them and his lips were always stretched.
He stopped, frowning when he saw a small shard of glass on the pavement below him. He saw his own reflection staring back at him.
Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you'll save. Better lock it in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave. If I show you then I know you won't tell what I said, 'cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.
He crossed the busy streets, twirling around. A woman passed by with a kid, the woman was busily talking to someone on the phone so Ares grabbed the kid's lollipop and took out his tongue when the kid whined pulling his mother trying to get her attention but the mother just pushed his hands away.
Ares licked the lollipop as the sweetness spread out on his tongue. He squeaked in delight.
"Oi! Watch where you're going." Someone said.
Ares giggled with a tight grip on the man's hands, "What did you say?"
The man's eyes widened when he saw the kid's hands covered with blood. "I-I'm s-sor-r-ry." He scurried away.
Ares took out his tongue again at the disappearing man.
He saw that his house was nearby so he happily took out the jar from his jacket and saw the hearts. He hugged the jar feeling warmth when he saw what he has accomplished.
He opened the door to his house and walked upstairs. He heard noises and they were coming from his mother's room. He slowly opened the door and saw his mother's moving bare back on top of some random dude.
"Hi mama," He softly said.
His mother's head turned and looked at the young boy. "Hello Ares, my love." His mother sweetly greeted.
Ares slowly walked towards the bed, ignoring the grunting man. He took out his jar and showed it to his mother, "Mama! Look what I got for you!" He cheekily smiled.
His mother gasped. "They're beautiful."
Ares agreed. He remembered the shrill sounds the younger boy produced earlier causing him to cringe.
"Why don't you be a good boy for mama and help mama out with Master June over here?" Thats when he took in the presence of the man below mama. The man was looking at him too in a weird way.
"Okay mama." Ares obliged and took his tongue out and helped mama.

Ares was admiring mama's collection when he heard the door open. He turned around and it revealed his mama wearing her silk robe. Mama walked towards him and hugged him from behind.
"You're doing great, Ares." His mama said, "You deserve a gift."
Ares gasped clapping his hands in excitement. "What is it? What is it? Ohh, I'm so excited!"
"I'll give you one heart." The moment she said that, he squealed and danced around the room. "But there's a catch..."
He stopped to listen.
"Come with me to Master Flinch today."
Ares whined. "Mama, I don't like Master Flinch."
He saw his mama's hands flying towards his cheeks.
"Did I teach you how to be that way? You're disappointing me." His mama shouted.
"Mama..." He cried. "F-forgive me, mama."
"Whats my number one rule?"
"Follow mama and kill demons."
Just a small sneak peak of our main character, Ares.
Isn't he lovely?
