I fucked up friends.
-
I was drunk.
At a party.
"Have you seen my boyfriend? He's like a million feet tall and is a stick. " my words were all mushed together
And I couldn't find Kyle.
So far no one had seen him, and I was starting to worry. Was he lost? Did he get kidnapped? Did he leave?
I looked around, asking anyone, desperate for them to help me find him. And I thought no one would, until a girl pointed at a door.
"Yeah, I saw him go in there with a girl a few minutes ago. " see turned back to her friends, and I moved towards the door.
My heart was racing. I was praying it was the wrong person. I was praying that I would open this door and find that the love of my life was cheating on me.
I slowly twisted the nob, pushing the door open and stepping inside. The lights were off, so I turned them on and almost screamed.
There he was, laying underneath some girl, kissing. His hands were running up and down her body, feeling all of it.
They hadn't noticed my presence until I started to cry, and he opened his eyes and looked at me, then the girl.
"Blue?" He pushed the girl off and off the bed, but I was out the door before he could even get on his feet.
I started running towards the door, not caring that I was pushing people and probably spilling drinks. I just needed to get out.
He was calling my name, but thankfully he didn't sound too close behind me. I pushed the door open, hurrying down the stairs and to the sidewalk.
I kept walking, even when I heard the door slam a few seconds later and steps coming towards me.
"Hope, hope wait!" I stopped, turning on my heel. There were tears running down my face and in my eyes, and my arms were crossed.
"Hope please let me explain. Please I promise-"
"No, fuck you kyle. I can't believe you would do that to me. " I didn't bother to wipe the tears away.
"After all that I have done for you. After all I've given you. You took my fucking virginity, Kyle. Was that not enough?"
"Hope-"
"Was it not enough?" I screamed, stepping back. "Obviously not. You know what, we are done. Get back to that girl. " I turned again, walking away.
I was trying to hold my sobs back, but failed as soon as I got 5 feet away. "Blue, please. " I heard him from behind me. It sounded like he was crying.
"Don't ever fucking call me that again. " and with that I continued down the sidewalk.
My mind continued to replay the memory, each time making it seem more and more like reality.
I couldn't wrap my head around this. He was on the other side of the wall. He was here. Kyle was here.
I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed him sooner. How could he be one apartment over and not been seen by me? He has to get outside eventually?
I do work a lot, though, so that's probably why I never knew.
I forced myself into bed, feeling a whole bunch of sadness join me. It was like he brought the depression back. Actually, he did.
I laid on my side, staring at the wall.
He's here.

I called into work, saying that I had a surprise family emergency back in Ohio and that I would be taking the week off.
My manager was a good person, so she told me that if I needed longer to let her know, and that's he hopes everything was okay.
I was just staring at the wall when suddenly there was a knock at the door. I didn't want to get up and answer it at all, but they knocked again a few seconds later so I stood up and slowly walked to the door.
When I opened it, I saw a purple haired girl and a black haired man standing awkwardly. I raised an eyebrow, and they just smiled.
"Um, we are from next door. We just wanted to say that we are sorry for being loud and for making you cry. "
"Thank you, but you didn't make me cry. "
"Oh, can I ask what did?" The black haired boy spoke up.
"Kyle did. Go ask him about it, he will tell you everything. Thanks for coming by. " I slammed the door, shutting my eyes in order to stop the pool of tears forming.
Even saying his name hurt.
I returned to my bed, going back to thinking and being sad.
KYLE.
"Hey Kyle, can you come here?" Johnnie yelled.
I stood from the bed, hurrying out and into the kitchen. He and Alex were standing there, their facial expressions the same but unreadable.
"What's up?" I sat down at a stool, resting my face on my palm.
"We just went and saw that girl. We told her we were sorry for being loud and for making her cry, but she said the noise didn't cause that. " Alex said, nervously rubbing her arm. "She said you did. "
"What did she mean?" Johnnie said suddenly, and I anxiously pushed my hair to the side and looked down.
"We dated for a while. We were really, really serious and I accidentally cheated on her. " I blurted out, shutting my eyes. God, what if they start to hate me too.
"How do you accidentally cheat on someone?"
"We were at a party, and it got out of hand and this girl with the same color hair started to kiss me and so I just assumed. I didn't know until she was standing in front of us crying. She told me we were over in the street and then walked off. I haven't seen her since. Well, actually, I saw her last night so I guess that's a lie. "
Alex and Johnnie nodded, exchanging glances.
"Guys I promise it was an accident. I loved her." I paused. "I love her. But she'll never love me back again. "
"Tell her what you told us. That it was an accident. "
"She won't believe me. "
"The make her believe you. " I looked up when Alex said that.
She started to explain what he was thinking, and we ended up with a plan.
