The day passed quickly and without realizing it, it was lunch time. Students filled the cafeteria and everyone seemed to be doing good on their first day.
"Reach, over here!" I heard Jonny calling me over to his table.
I walked over and sat down besides him. This table consists of the well known people of our school or as most know them "the populars". You'd expect this since Jonny is part of the popular group but this isn't really my theme. I'd rather sit on a table that didn't have everyone's eyes on it every second, watching "the populars".
Jonny's tray was full of veggies and all sorts of healthy food. I laughed at that knowing that he loves junk food but his coach is here and he has to act as if he's a healthy food addict.
"How were your classes babe?" Jonny asked me with his usual sweet voice.
"They were fine, you know, the usual as every year." He nodded and grabbed a fork full of greens from his tray.
"Hey did you guys hear about the new guy?" That's Dakota Smith or as most know her the schools queen B.
You probably thought she's an annoying spoiled brat or mean as soon as you heard that, didn't you? Dakota's actually a really nice girl, she may be the schools queen B but that doesn't make her mean or anything. Her curly blonde hair went past her shoulders and her baby blue eyes gave her the cheerleader stereotype look, but all in all she was just an average girl. And oh, did I mention she's the head cheerleader?
"Yeah I heard people talking about him during second period" Reyna Jordan, or Dakotas best friend.
"I have him in my history class, he seems very quiet and mysterious" said Dakota.
"Nah he's just acting cool to get attention." Ade Fitz. This one id describe as the usual cheerleader stereotype.
I heard Jonny groan from besides me.
"Oh, cmon guys don't judge him so quickly and stop talking about him as if he's an alien. He's probably just wanting to mind his own business and get out of here."
I had to agree with him, but I just couldn't get my mind off the dark haired God-like human.
"Sorry I'm late. The teacher asked me to stay after class to help with some paper work" Anna said rushing to take a seat and dig into her food."God, I'm so hungry!" She started eating her fries and didn't pay any attention to us anymore because she started texting on her phone. It was probably Dan.
Everyone started chatting to the person next to them so I turned to Jonny. I don't really talk to the people at this table that much but I guess we are all on a friendly basis.
"How's Jess-" I was about to ask Jonny how his sister that is studying in England is when the cafeteria doors shut forcefully making everyone turn their head.
His black boots' clicking on the ground was the only sound you could her in the cafeteria as everyone got dead silent. The new guy's eyes scanned the whole cafeteria before they landed on mine. I stared right back at him. Not because of braveness, not because of my challenging personality, the one that doesn't even exist. But because I couldn't look away, he was simply looking at me. No expression on his face, no gesture made by him. They stayed on mine for only 5 mere seconds before they started roaming the cafeteria again. It looked like he had found what he was searching for because he started walking towards the back tables of the place. That is the place where the tattoo covered ones stood. He sat down on an empty chair and I saw the others around the table start talking.
After that people finally returned to what they were doing before.
"Well, that was something" Said Anna as she had put her phone down to enjoy the show.
Jonny shrugged before going back to his food. "A normal person walking to a normal table" he said nonchalantly.
Anna laughed and raised her eyebrows.
"Yeah, if you call breaking the rules, vandalism and illegal shit normal, because that's what those people over at that table do."
"Yeah, who's talking about breaking the rules, wasn't it you that skipped fourth period yesterday? Or went to that frat party when your parents actually thought you were asleep? Oh what about that time when you broke the neighbors window? Yeah totally normal." Jonny snapped at her.
"Me breaking Mrs. Millers window was a total accident! The rock was supposed to hit the ball that was stuck on the tree. Not her window!"
And then they started talking , more like arguing but I just wasn't paying any attention anymore. I just can't get over the weird feeling that his eyes gave me when they landed upon mine. I fell a blush creep its way up to my cheeks as i thought about it.
"Hey, what's up with you? Why did you go all tomato on us all of the sudden?" My Saint asked questionably, having directed the attention towards me.
"Nothing I'm just not feeling so well." I lied hoping they'd eat it.
"Are you okay babe?" Jonny asked me as his eyes showed worry.
"Yeah I'm fine, just a small headache." I replied softly and got up just as the bell rung.
The three of us rushed to our last class of the day before giving an end to the first day of senior year.
"Do you guys wanna go grab some Starbucks after school? To celebrate a successful first day?" Jonny asked
"Yeah" Both, me and Anna replied.
"Let's meet out front after class."
With that we all left in different directions.
