Fair warning: this is a slightly long chapter <33333
I woke to the sound of water against pebbles, rippling through cracks, my lids flying open. I take in my surroundings, trees embedding throughout what appeared to be a forest, a waterfall ahead, harsh streams of liquid clashing to the surface. "You snore when you sleep." I hear a familiar voice mumble, looking over my shoulder to meet eyes a darker shade of blue than the lake itself.
He smirks. "What kind of sleeping beauty are you supposed to be?"
Raising a pointed eyebrow in his direction and hoising myself up, a little light headed, my hands find my hips. "Where are we?"
Killua shrugs, laying on the ground with his legs spread out, he was comfortable here. "Does it matter?"
I stay silent, allowing nature to wash over me. Just as I attempt to relax, I pause, blinking. Wait. I.HAVE.WORK.TODAY. The ex-assassin watches me in horror as I begin to unzip my dress, a velvet blush spreading from head to toe faster than his Godspeed.
"Woah, Bitsy, what a-are you doing?!" The white haired male cups my cheeks with his hands, searching for anything that might explain my sudden action. "Did they do something to you?"
I stare at him in confusion. "What are you talking about?" Again, my fingers grip the ends of the soft fabric, pulling it over my head. The Zoldyck's heir doesn't turn away as I do so (I'm guessing he wasn't taught proper manners in his assassin training), only to reveal an undershirt and shorts.
A sudden flash of disappointment perishes across his face with him releasing a sigh of relief all the same. What did he think I was going to do?
Normal P.O.V.
Killua sighed in relief, having a mini-heart attack at the sight of Y/N undressing. They were both alone in a practically isolated palace of green, one male and one female, it was already tempting as it was with the long haired girl always wearing knee high boots and tight dresses. He didn't need another reason.
Y/N's P.O.V.
I was crouching at the edge in between the stream of water and rocky ground, watching as it flowed in sync, pulling plants inside, but they held. Before I knew it, I had joined them, drenched with a scream from me. Two palms had pushed me inside!
I cranked my neck to glare at the laughing ex-assassin clutching his stomach and rolling on the ground. "K-killua!" An idea formed inside my head as I pretended to slap the water in protest, wiggling my body around. "I can't-swim!" I coughed.
His eyes shot up in my direction, suddenmy serious. "Bitsy?" The white haired male crawled to my side in a rush, stretching out a hand for me to take. I did, yanking him inside with me. Killua's eyes dilated, the water was freezing and yet, with our warmth, it didn't seem like a big deal.
The Zoldyck's hier glowered at me, swooshing with my hands some of the particles in his direction, landing on his face and chest. I just realized he wasn't wearing a shirt. Clearly, he wasn't a fan of water, but he was still going to jump in and save me? As the boy closed the distance between us with a revengeful smirk, he gripped my hips and lifted me off my feet. I yelped in surprise, smiling down at him. For once I was taller.
Killua's eyes gleamed with the sun's penetrating rays blinding us, snow white hair falling over his face, sticking with the water. I'm sure mine was the same, clinging to my clothes and arms. Everywhere. I didn't mind.
Not until his eyes transfered absently to my neck. I gasped, pushing him away on impulse. He sidestepped in return, losing balance and dropping the girl in his arms. Shivering, I covered the spot I would rather die then let him see.
I heard Killua shake his head and stand up, a worried expression plastered across his features as he strided towards me. "Y/N, there wa-"
"Whatever you saw wasn't there!" I yell, slapping away his hand. A pang of hurt shot in his eyes, surprised by the way I was acting. He was suddenly on top of me, tackling me to the floor and pinning my hands over my head. "Stop, Killua!" I growled, feeling his gaze scan my skin, painting a path towards questions that I was incapable of answering.
They landed on the letter in bold, a reminder that I was not free. There were restrictions, and I was not innocent anymore. At the capitalized M.
His grip on my arms tightens and I hold in a painful cry. "Who did this to you?" In front of me, he transforms into a completely different person, his tone is low and deadly, eyes darkened.
I close my own to prevent myself from crying, the back of my lids watering. "Let go, Zoldyck."
"Bitsy. . ." he trails on, eyes softening. "Please tell me."
"Killua." I repeat his name. "I. Don't. Want. To. Talk. About. It. Okay?!"
The ex-assassin releases me, his lips are a line as he walks towards a thick tree and slumps against it. On the other hand, I remain where I stand. We stay like that for a while, letting the silence fill in the missing gaps with our connection and trust slowly drifting away. Right now, he must be making up scenarios related to how the marking got there in the first place because his face twists into concentration.
"I was raped." I whisper to the humid air, but I know he heard me, frozen, clutching a handful of rocks in his fist in order to keep calm, listening intensely. "It was in the second phase of the Hunter exam." I continue, my voice finally cracking, betraying the strong shell I've developed over the years.
"And they decided it would be funny to mark me. Permanently."
The ex-assassin doesn't say anything, registering in my words. I supress a strangled look and instead force a small smile, "But I'm better now."
Finally, he plops down beside me, head held low with his hands clapsed together, debating in his head about something beyond my reach. The next sentence to escape his mouth causes me to meet his gaze. "Be my girlfriend?"
Staring into intense orbs that I can get lost in, I realize that the boy in front of me is completely and utterly serious, not a doubt in his voice, brows furrowed while leaning close.
Now I'm the one blushing. "Wh-what?"
"I'll protect you and you won't have to cry anymore."
I scoff softly. "Last time anyone cried, it wasn't me."
The white haired boy glares at me. "I'm serious, Y/N."
"I know." This all feels like a dream, unreal. "But-" I look at my hands. "why now?" This seems to frustrate Killua even further, his lips colliding with mine, our tongues roaming familiar and foreighn territory, fighting for dominance. In the end he wins. It lasts for at least thirty seconds before we have to break our touch for air, he smirks at me, licking his lips seductively.
He's more like his old self now, maybe a bit overly confident. "Does that answer your question, Bitsy?"
"Fine." I grumble, and he tilts his head, amused.
"What was that?"
"I said fine."
"Just fine?" The boy presses with a triumphant grin, quirking an eyebrow. "Do you need another round?"
I smack his arm playfully, giggling. How is it he can have this effect on me? Make me feel like I'm on cloud 9 one moment and then sobber me up the next? Did I have the same power over him? What was this beating in my chest, flutters and twists that made me joyful? Ecstatic?
"Today I have work." I state, remembering why I was upset in the first place, the atmosphere changing to all business.
"Already taken care of. You got the day off, as far as they're concerned, you're sick."
I match his expression. "That's not entirely a lie." The fight in the church still fresh in my mind. "What about my friends? Your sister?"
"They're watching a movie in your apartment."
So he basically kidnapped me to make sure I didn't have a public breakdown. "How did you know about the brand?" I wonder out loud, there was no way he would have simply spotted it by coincidence. Someone told him, however, no one had noticed as far as I could tell.
"Celicy told me." The male admitted, shutting his eyes with his hands over his head. Meaning, the assassin from the Grien family must have seen it when we were battling.
If we were together now, did that mean that I could kiss him whenever I wanted and he could kiss me whenever he wanted? Hold hands while taking midnight walks under the moon's silver rays?
I had been through so much in my life that I grew from experience, fell because I was naive enough to let my gaurd down and ended up falling for an impossibility who entered my life by chance, an accident that had as much likehood of occuring as a meteorite crashing right this instant.
And his name was Killua Zoldyck.
"I want to get a phone." I blurted out with determination, he smiled at me, a few steps ahead already. As if it was second nature, I hopped on his back, feeling the ex-assassin call for Godspeed, electric blue static shrouded his sturdy body.
The rush of air hit my face with vicious revenge and I sprang a hand above me, the other one wrapped securely around his neck, as we soared through everything at once. "Woahhhh!!!" I scream, our surroundings changing, blury images passing before my eyes in a matter of seconds.
When we were in front of a building decorated in red and white with bubble letters spelling: Electronics. Inside, the store was empty except for another couple checking out the devices in stock behind glass.
It only took me a minute or so to chose my favorite one, an old version of the original with a light hue of bronze, it gleamed at my touch and was light enough to fit in one of my back pockets. Now that I was a Hunter, taking up jobs or quests in exchange for money was an option that contributed to my daily payment.
Ally and me shared the rent, taking turns. This month was hers, so I could afford the calling device. At the register, I set the phone down, fishing out some money from inside my bra (yes, I did this since I was wearing a dress and most if the time they don't have pockets).
From the corner of my eye, I saw Killua look at me with curiosity as I payed. The man with brown hair taking my credit dropped my purchase inside a plastic bag, handing it back to me. "Have a nice day." He said in monotone.
We stopped in front of the store, my boyfriend's hands hidden inside his pockets. "What do you want to do now?" He asked, glancing in my direction.
I was aware that what I was about to ask had nothing to do with his own question, but I just wanted to know. "Do you still have those yo-yos that you hit my brother with?"
This takes him back until he regains composition and nods, taking one out from his pocket all of a sudden. "I always keep them in my pockets."
Oh, that makes more sense!
"Can I hold one?"
The Zoldyck's heir snorts. "No offece, Bitsy, but these weigh 50 kilograms. Each." The white haired male raises an eyebrow in mockery, making me feel like a little girl in his presence. However, I do have to admit, 50 each was slightly intimidating.
The stubborn part of me ignored all warnings, challenging back, holding my hand out. He simply shrugs, smiling, as he places one on the surface of my palm.
My eyes widen in surprise as the weight of this thing literally drags my hand to the ground, knuckles landing on the concrete. I give a high pitched screech, watching the boy offer an apologetic grin, proving me wrong and snatching back the yo-yo with ease.
Was he hulk?
"Okay, okay, I was wrong! Now don't make me slap that smirk off your face, doutche." I hiss, rubbing my injured bones, skin scrambled with red, green veins visible in my wrist.
Normal P.O.V.
Bitsy is so adorable when she's pointing daggers at me. . . . Killua thinks to himself. "Hey, let's go back to the burrow?" He says, turning to look at the long haired girl with long eyelashes shadowing her eys like an umbrella would at the beach.
Her lips curl at the ends, beaming. "Okay."
Y/N's P.O.V.
On the way there, I register Ally and Peter's phone numbers on mine, creating them as contacts. I type through the keyboard, sending Ally a message.
Me: Ally? This is Y/N.
Ally: U GOT A PHONE?
Me: YES. What are you doing?
Ally: Snuggling on a couch with bae <3333
Me: -.-
Ally: Bye, bye cuddles! Peter's attacking me with pillows! 😂
Me: Bye!!
Once we arrive, my hair could actually become a bird's nest, as the prodigy once commented, the fast ride and Killua's ability contributing to the wild strands hanging loose. The inside of the digged hole is exactly like I recall, christmas lights hanging on the walls, a minature sized bed, the dartboard of Illumi and some furniture scattered around the free space.
But the room is more dim than before, casting a dark glare around us and I can sense Killua behind me, looking around as well, towering over me. We're alone, creeping, hollow stillness hovering over the two of us. "D-do you have a bathroom?" I say, anything from allowing the awkwardness to devour us whole. His head shoots up, eyebrows pulled together.
"No, you have to go outside." The Zoldyck's heir replies sarcastically, gesturing for me to turn through the right corner. I do, shutting the door behind me gently. It turns out I did need to go, washing my hands thoroughly and descending back.
Killua leans on a wall, arms crossed, watching me return. For a moment, we stare at each other's eyes, communicating telepathically when words can't describe this forming tension.
Suddenly, he walks toward me, picking me from where I stood and pushing me against a wall abruptly, Ocean Blue eyes filled with a destructive craving as I feel him caress the line of my neck with his thumb, kissing my forehead, my nose, my lips, mouth trailing down to my collar bone where he bit.
I bite my lip, gripping his shirt with one hand and grabing a fistful of his spiky white hair, wrapping my legs around his hips. His touch sending electrifying sparks of adrenaline throughout my body, the hairs of my neck raised.
His breathe is warm when I feel it at the hollow of my ear, his voice raspy and deep in his throat as the words vibrate. "Can I-"
We're interrupted by a dizzy ringing coming from my new phone, we both sigh at the same time, exasperated. A small relief crosses over me as I flip open the device, placing it next to my ear. "Hello?"
On the other line, I can make out Ally's hurried tone. "Y/N?!"
"Maybe we should have waited to get that phone for later. . ." Killua mumbles, scratching the back of his head. I glare at him to shut his trap.
"What is it, Ally?"
"It's, um-" my best friend pauses, hesitant, unsure how to continue. "Peter just got a call from someone he knows who's holding your brother, Jesse, hostage.
My blood runs cold.
