I ran up the staircase, so I would catch up on Mal and Evie. "Mal, Evie, if you'll follow me please." I stated. Ben had given me their dorm number. "So... do you like this place?" Mal asked me as we walked down the girls wing of the school. "It's not the worst." I replied. "Are there any princes here?" Evie asked hopefully. "Tons. All idiots, of course." I told her. "Wait, you mean you don't like all those perfect people around here?" Mal questioned, stopping in the middle of the hallway. "That's putting it lightly. If it wasn't for my friends, I would have cursed Audrey a couple of years ago." I told them. "Oh, and Evie, she had no right to humiliate you like that. You are just as much of a princess as I am, probably even more." I explained to her. "Ahw, thank you!" she squealed. "You are the only person that has treated us like actual persons since we came here." Mal said. "Well, you guys aren't your parents." I told them. "You know what?" Mal asked me. I looked at her confused. "I like you." she simply stated. Evie stared at me in amazement as Mal walked away.
"How did you do that?" she whispered. "Did what?" I asked. "Get her to like you so quickly?" Evie explained. "By treating her as my equal. Not as my subject, nor my leader. As a wise poet once said: 'Do not follow me, for I am not one to lead. Do not lead me, for I am not one to follow. Just walk beside me as my equal and we shall both lead and follow one another'." I told the blue-haired girl. "You guys coming?" Mal shouted. "On our way!" I replied.
We continued to walk down the hall until we passed their room. "Here we are. Room 293. If there's anything you need, just ask. My room is right next to yours. Oh, and if you hear sword fighting, don't worry. That's just me and my roommate." I explained. "One thing." Mal said. I looked at her. "Where is the bathroom?" she asked. "There's one in your room and there are toiletries on your beds." I explained. They nodded and entered their room as I walked towards my own dorm.
"So..." Maere said as I entered our dorm. She was sitting on her bed, a biology book in her lap. I glanced at her in confusion as she raised her eyebrow at me. "How are the new guys? Are they nice?" she asked, jumping up from her bed and pacing around the room. "They're...cool, I guess. Well, at least they're not like Audrey." I told the red-haired girl. The curtains danced a bit in the wind as I sat down on my bed.
"Something's bothering you." Maere said, sitting down next to me. "You're right." I replied. The bed creaked under our weight as she shuffled closer. "What is it?" "I've got a gut feeling that something isn't right. Like something is about to happen to me..." I told Maere. "It's probably nothing." she reassured me. "Yeah, I suppose you're right. Dinner?" I proposed. "I'll race you there." Maere dared me. With that, we ran out towards the dining area, not caring what anyone thought of us.
"I won!" I yelled, doing a little victory dance. "Sure..." Maere said in a disbelieving tone. I scrounged my nose at her and we sat down for dinner.
-AFTER DINNER-
"Kathy..." Irene said in the sweetest voice she could manage. "What do you need?" I groaned. She looked at me offended. "Why would I need anything?!" she asked as she dramatically placed her hand over her heart. "Ire, you only use that voice when you need something, so just tell Kath what you need." James clarified. "Okay, fine. So, tomorrow I have geography with Jafar's son..." she began. I glanced over at Maere, who simply rolled her eyes as Hiccup sighted. "Let me guess, you want to borrow my crown?" I asked her. Irene nodded enthusiastically. "Not going to happen." I said. "But Kathy..." she whined. "You heard the high princess." James announced. "James! You know I hate that title." I groaned. "At least he didn't use your full title." Hiccup stated, making me smile a bit. The corridor split. Left for the male wing, right for the female wing. We wished each other good night and went our own way.
"But about that crown..." Irene began. "Ire! You can't borrow it! That crown is only for special occasions." I explained. "Fine." she grumbled as Maere laughed at her. Suddenly, something, or rather someone, crashed into me. "Oi! Watch where you're going!" Maere shouted at the unknown person. "Why don't YOU watch where you're going, idiot!" a rather familiar voice shouted back. "Kathy! Oh, terribly sorry I bumped into you." the voice of Evie spoke. She bumped into me while Mal bumped into Maere. "It's alright." I reassured her. In the meantime, Irene was attempting to calm Maere down. "Enough!" I shouted as loud as I could. Everyone turned their attention to me. "Mae, calm down. Same for you, Mal." I told the two of them. "But she bumped into me!" Maere yelled. "Did not!" Mal argued. "Guys, guys!" Evie shouted, holding Mal back. I groaned as they continued to shout at each other. My hands glowed with blue light as I took both Maere's and Mal's voice away. "That's much better. Now, Mal, Evie, meet Maere and Irene." I introduced them.
"Hi, I'm Irene, daughter of Rapunzel. I love you hair!" Irene said as she shook Evie's hand. "Oh, thank you! Your hair looks lovely too. I'm Evie, by the way. Evil Queen's daughter." The two of them continued to talk about beauty tips while Mal and Maere simply glared at one another. "Now, I'm going to give both of you your voices back. Don't make me regret it." I told them. I raised my hands, which were still glowing blue as I held them against Mal's and Maere's throat. They both gulped and I removed my hands. I looked hopefully at the two of them. "Maere, daughter of Merida." she stated, sticking out her hand with pride. "Mal, daughter of Maleficent." Mal replied, shaking her hand. "See, it's not that bad." I told them. "Besides, you both have at least one thing in common." They looked at me confused. "You both hate Audrey." I explained.
"Well, I suppose you're Kathy's roommate then?" Mal asked Maere. "Yeah, how'd you know?" Maere replied, her arms crossed over her chest. "Kathy said that you guys do some sword fighting once in a while and I don't think that blondie over there knows how to use a sword." Mal explained. "Fair enough..." Maere mumbled. "So, where are you guys off to?" I asked Evie. "Oh, you know, we were just going for a quick visit to the boys." Evie said. "Yeah, just asking what they think of this place." Mal added. "Well...do you know where their dorm is?" I asked her. Mal and Evie shared a look before shaking their heads. "I'll take you!" Irene volunteered. "No, you won't. The only reason you want to go is so you can see Jay." Maere stated. Irene shot her an angry glance before blowing a piece of hair from her face.
"Anyhow, could you tell us where their dorms are or not?" Mal asked, slightly irritated. "Yeah, sure. Mae? Are you coming with me?" I asked the redhead. "Nah, I'm going to take a shower and go to bed early. Night guys." she said. "Can I come?" Irene asked. I looked over to Mal and Evie. Evie clapped her hands while Mal just shrugged. "Sure." I muttered. Irene did a little happy dance before starting a conversation with Evie about makeup and dress designs.
"So, she's one of your friends then?" Mal asked me, nudging towards Irene. "Yep." I simply replied. "You know, she doesn't really seems like someone you would befriend, I mean, with you sword fighting and stuff and she's more of a...princessie type." Mal explained as we walked down the hallways of Auradon Prep. "Well, she knew Maere from quite a young age, so when I first came to this school, the two of them were inseparable. I befriended Maere really quick and along the way, I befriended Irene too." I told her.
"So, how did you and Evie meet? I mean, she's like your complete opposite, isn't she?" I asked the purple-haired girl. "You're right. But my mom and the Evil Queen are old friends, so we basically grew up together." she said. "Life must be tough on the island. I mean, there aren't many teens around there." I said. "Yeah, that's why I don't really trust people, but you...you just have a trustworthy personality, I guess." Mal replied. "Thanks..." I muttered.
"Well, here we are." I told Evie and Mal, gesturing towards a wooden door. Mal opened the door and we were greeted by the sound of videogames. "Thank you...for, you know...showing us the way." Evie stammered. "It's fine. Do you think you can find your way back?" I asked her. She nodded and followed Mal into the room. "See you tomorrow!" Irene chirped at her. "Bye!" Evie replied.
Irene and I made our way back to the girls' wing. "I like them." Irene suddenly said. "Yeah, I figured." I muttered. She huffed and glared at me. "Oh! I totally forgot to tell you!" she suddenly exclaimed. "Tell me what?" I asked her. "Fairy Godmother wants you and Hiccup to stay with the new kids tomorrow. All day." she explained. "Why the hell is that?" I questioned. "I don't know. I think at first she wanted Jane to do it, but she was too scared." Irene stated. "Does Hic know?" I asked. "Not that I know..." she mumbled. I groaned. "Fine, I'll sent him a message." I told her. "One with glitter?" Irene wondered. "Oh, Aslan. No. Irene, it's just a quick message. It'll probably just be a voice one." I explained. "Fine. See you tomorrow, then?" she said as we stopped in front of her dorm. "Yeah. Night, Ire." I smiled. "Goodnight, Kathy." She replied, opening her dorm.
