Sometimes fate works in horrid yet wonderful ways, this is why we have our first story here.

Our story starts with a girl named Melony. Melony has had a very rough time with life. When she was growing up her father left, causing her mother to have an emotional break down. Her mother did as little for her as possible and would constantly beat her in fits of rage. Once again someone innocent was blamed for something they could not control.

Melony was about sixteen when she met Adam, at the time she was having problems in school. It was mostly because she refused to speak or let people in at school so many assumed she was either stuck up or had 'major problems'. She would always hear the whispers and at times people would physically harass her. Every time she would just hold her head down and keep quiet. Adam had noticed this.

One day when she was trying to hurry off to her part time job. Two girls were picking on her and refusing to let her leave. Adam walked up behind them. "Excuse me Ladies, I believe she was asking you to let her leave," his voice said in a soft, yet commanding tone. They looked back and saw him, they had heard things about this guy. They quickly apologized and ran off.

"Thanks," Melony smiled sweetly. Adam seemed really glad to help. He frowned slightly though, seeing her up close he could see faint traces of bruises under her make up. He forced a smile, "Let me walk you to work," it was more of an order than a request.

"Well, I'm fairly certain I can't stop you," she said in a light tone as she started walking. He walked with her, managing to have a pleasant conversation and learn a little more about her. After she went into the store she worked at he went home alone.

The next day he stopped her after school, "Do you need to go straight home today?" he asked. She shook her head. He smiled and took her arm, "C'mon, I'm taking you out somewhere." She didn't have a chance to refuse as he was already leading her off somewhere. They went to a restaurant. He asked her a lot of questions about who she was personally and her dreams. He was amazed by how much she had thought about. She wanted to be an artist so she was looking into being an art teacher.

She asked him about many things as well. She was amazed by how kind and sweet he acted towards her, it was nice. She learned that he didn't really have any plans for his life for the time being but he was obviously entranced by her. Even though he never said it sh felt like she was being added to his long term plan.

They went to the park after leaving the restaurant, just wanting to stay together a while longer. They just continued to talk and laugh, just all around enjoying being together. Eventually the night had to come to an end. He slowly walked her home. At the door she gave him a hug and quickly gave him her phone number before heading in. He stood outside and took a deep breath before leaving. Maybe it was just him being paranoid but he hated the idea of her going home.. those bruises probably didn't come from someone at school.

A few weeks passed and they started seeing each other more and more, they even took a day trip to a nearby amusement park together. She got more and more confident around him and he had the same reaction. Eventually he asked her about her home life, more specifically about the bruises.

She sighed, "Can we talk somewhere private?" They ended up going to his home in silence. The moment they stepped through the door he rushed out the words "Please tell me." She was reluctant but she trusted him and she felt he would figure it out sooner or later. She looked at him seriously, "You can't tell anyone about what I say, it has to stay between me and you." He took her hand, "I won't tell anyone, I'm just worried about you." She took a breath, "W-well.. i-it's my mom... she hits me.. a lot.." She was quiet, it was weird saying it out of her own mouth, but she felt a little relieved to tell him that. He stood there a moment quietly before pulling her into a tight hug. He had thought that might be it, but he still wasn't ready to hear it.

They stayed like that a while before he spoke, "Do you think your mom would care if you stayed here sometimes?" he asked quietly. She nodded softly, "I could stay." He smiled softly, glad to get her away from that, even if only for a few days. "Are you sure your parents won't mind?" she asked. "I actually live alone..." he said quietly. She nodded slightly. He made up the guest room and then came back into the living room. They talked some but mostly just tried to relax from the comfort of each other's presence.

For a few months she would spend about half of each week at his house. They kept getting closer and closer. Soon they were almost inseparable.

One day Adam didn't come to school so she came to visit him, he was really sick. He apologized for making her worry. She offered to take care of him and he immediately said yes. She took care of him for about a week. She was getting more and more worried each day. Once he started to get better he finally admitted something to her.

"Mel... there's something I need to tell you..." he quietly patted a place next to him. She came over and quietly asked, "What is it?" He took a breath then spoke, "About a year ago I got really sick and didn't get better. After a while a doctor did some tests and told me I have a heart disease... a-and he told me I would die in two years.." His voice kept getting quieter and quieter until it shut of completely, he was holding back tears. Melony was silently crying, her hands were balled into fists. He hugged her tightly and they both cried. After they calmed down she managed to speak in a shaky voice, "C-can't they do anything?" He shook his head softly. He kissed her forehead, "I-I promise I'll do everything I can to live, for you." He hugged her with a sad smile, "I spent the last year trying to make sure I had nothing to leave behind.. that is until I found someone worth living for. Maybe having a better will to live will help." They held each other quietly until bedtime that night.

Weeks went by and they had decided to just make the most of being together and hope for the best. Soon it was time for winter break. Melony's mom was going on a trip for those two weeks so she was able to bewith Adam that entire time. Three days befor Christmas they were watching a movie and Adam suddenly got sick. He rushed to the bathroom and started violently vomiting blood. He weakly told Melony to call an ambulance.

Melony rode in the ambulance with him, holding his hand the entire time, making hopeful promises that he would be okay. They did immediate surgery and he woke up on Chritsmas eve. Melony's head was resting on the edge of the bed, she never left his side. He smiled and whispered, "you kept your promise." She woke up to see him awake. Tars flood here eyes as she hugged him, doing her best to be gentle."I was so worried," she had the brightest smile on her face possible. He hugged back, "what day is it?" She told him it was Christmas eve. "Sorry we can't be home for Christmas..." he said quietly. "At least we're together," she smiled and kissed him. "Yeah," he smiled back.

BAD END

They stayed together for a while both happy that he was now awake. After a few hours he started complaining about chest pains. It wasn't long before his heart was failing. The doctors rushed in. They took him away and tried desperately to save him. It was an hour or so before anyone told Melony. "Y-you're kidding right?" she said as tears came down her face. "I-I'm sorry, we aren't joking.." the man said. Her heart was silently breaking but it was past the point of crying. Adam didn't have anyone to give him a funeral so she ended up doing it, it wasn't much but it was closure. She hoped it would help and make it a little easier, it didn't. Each day felt worse and worse, she missed him more than she let herself acknowledge. After the funeral she visited the grave everyday. It got harder and harder to leave. Of coarse she had to go back to living with her mom. It was unbearable, this was about the time she knew she wouldn't love anyone as much as she loved him. Eventually she started losing her mind. Eventually she couldn't take it anymore and she took her own life. When her body was found the note she had with her was rather strange. On one side it was somewhat calm and collected where she admitted about a few things in her life, such as her mother. The strange part was the other side was written more sloppily, repeating things like "I'm so sorry," "forgive me," and "I couldn't take it." To whom those words were addressed only she knew. As with Adam her death was tragic yet few knew of it and even fewer really cared.

GOOD END

They stayed together for a while and soon a doctor came in to talk to them. The doctor said that the surgery was a huge success. He said it was a dangerous surgery so they couldn't have done it when it wasn't necessary but now it seemed that his life span had gone up drastically due to the huge improvements they had made to his heart problems. They spent Christmas together in the hospital, it wasn't much but they were happy just the same. Adam managed to leave the hospital in less than a week. They spent the entire break went by, they were even closer now than before. A few years passed and they eventually moved in together and as more years came and went they got married. In the end they had a pretty happy ending.
