Kayla's POV
I wake up in the middle of the night, not being able to sleep at all. 'ugh!' After trying to go back to sleep I just decide to get up and go downstairs to get some water. I grabbed my phone and headed quietly down stairs. Careful not to wake everyone else. They all stayed the night. I get water and sit down at the island counter. I check my phone to see I have all these missed calls and text messages from chance. I just can't bring myself to look at the messages right now. I just sigh and run my fingers through my hair. I heard someone speak and I got scared. I looked up to see it was Michael.
"You scared me." I tell him as he chuckles a bit.
"Sorry, I just heard you get up and figured you'd be down here." he says sitting next to me.
"how you holding up?" he asks and I just sigh.
"heh I don't exactly know, I don't want to believe that he would do something like this." I tell him.
"Are you going to talk to him?" he asks.
"Uh, I don't know, I'm supposed to do an interview with Shawn tomorrow about our new song. Then Shawnee asked me if I would watch Brooklyn for her while she does errands and I said sure so I can probably bet that I will end up seeing him." I say groaning and Michael just pats my back.
"You will be fine and just know I'll always be on your side."he says hugging me, and I smile.
"Thanks Michael, you're the best." I say hugging him back. We release then I yawn.
"Well I am going back to bed, I'll see you in the morning." I tell him as we walk back up to our rooms.
"Alright, get some sleep kay, everything will work itself out." he says before going into his room. I sigh and go into my room and go back to sleep.
Hours later........
My alarm went off at 10:00am. I have to be at the venue for the interview at 12:15 so I have to start getting ready now. I get up, do my business in the bathroom and get dressed into:
Once I am done I check my phone to see I have more messages from chance, and a message from Nate saying he took Jayden to school, and a message from Emeraude saying if me and Presley wanted to come to hang out with her Matt and harry later on tonight. I replied back sure and then took my phone off the charger and grabbed my bag and headed downstairs. I see everyone awake and in the kitchen.
"Hey guys !" I said and they all smiled at me. By everyone I meant, Michael, Presley, Aspen, Miles, Alex, and Alexis, and Drew.
"Hey Kayla you ready for your interview today, even with everything going on?" Presley asks.
"I will be , I'm not going to let this get in the way." I tell her and she smiles.
"Thats good!" She says and I nod.
"You look gorgeous kay!" Aspen says and I twirl and say thanks , laughing.
"OK so I have to leave, Presley, aspen you coming with me?" I ask them. Presley nods but aspen frowns.
"I have to leave today for work , but I will be back this weekend so we can hangout." she says and I nod and hug her.
"Well thank you for coming to my competition , it means a lot." I tell her.
"It's no problem kay and I am sorry for chance, he doesn't know a good thing when he has it. " She says and I smile.
"Ok well we have to go , but are you Guys going to be here when we get back or no?" I ask the guys.
"We have a meeting with the band, and then we'll be in the studio so I don't know how long that will be." Michael says and I nod.
"Yea and me and Alex are going to my family's house today, so we'll be there." Miles says and I nod.
"And I have to babysit my brother so I'll be busy too." Alexis says.
"Ok well um just remember to lock the house when you all leave, I will see you all later bye guys." I tell them hugging Michael and miles.
"Good luck on your interview we'll be watching." Michael says and I smile.
"Ok thanks , come on Presley and aspen you walking out with us?" I ask her and she nods.We head over to the door and as I open it I see chance standing there about to knock. I just stand there not saying anything.
"Hey." he says.
"um, Michael, Drew, chance is here so you all can go to the studio together, I'll see you all later bye." I say walking past him with Presley and aspen to the car. We say bye to aspen and me and Presley get in my car and drive to the venue.
"Hey so , Em texted and asked if we wanted to hang out with her Matt and harry tonight and I said yes, you down?" I asked her.
"Um yes! " she says and we both laugh. The rest of the car ride involves us blaring the music and singing at the top of our lungs, and laughing. We finally arrive at the studio and we walk inside. I automatically see Jonathan.
"Ah kayla ! good your here on time, so you look good so we won't have you change ,but go get your mic put on. Oh and Hi Presley!" he says and I nod and Presley says hi back. I go over to a stage guy to get my mic put on and I see Shawn getting his put on too.
"Hey Kayla! How have you been?" he asks and I smile
"I've been good how about yourself." I tell him.
"Good, I uh saw your live from yesterday, everything ok?" he asks.
"Uh, just some issues but nothing that can't be fixed," I tell him and he nods dropping the subject. We finish getting our Mic's put on then we get ready to go on. We wait for our cue.
"And now please welcome, Kayla Hudson and Shawn Mendes!" we hear Ellen say and we walk out waving and smiling. We hug her and then we sit down next to each other.
"So how are you guys doing, I mean your song I know what you did last summer is at the top of the charts.how does that feel?" she asks and Shawn looks at me to talk first.
"Um everything is going really well, and I am really happy that people like the new song." I said and Shawn just agrees.
"Well thats good, so how did the song come about?" Ellen asks us and Shawn answers.
"Well I has seen some of Kayla's Youtube videos and saw her on Boyband and wanted to work with her, so I DM'd her and we found out we are both at the same record label so it worked out for us and then we got together one day and started messing around with lyrics and chords and we came up with the song in about 2 hours actually." he says and we both laugh.
"Wow! thats amazing so what is the song about initially?" she asks.
"The song is initially about finding out that somebody had been cheating on you, and the song is that moment right before you confront that person where you both know what's next, but it's killing the both of you.Like you still love that person but it also hurts you knowing what they did." I explain
"Yea When we were writing, I remember one of us just kind of blurted out the phrase 'I know what you did last summer," Shawn adds on making us laugh.
"Wow, so why this type of song,?"she asks
"I just think the lyrics started spilling out at the time and it turned into a song." Shawn says
"Yea , I mean I'm sure everyone at some point has had experience with finding out they have been cheated on. So I feel like that's why this song is relatable." I explain.
"Well, the song is amazing but another question fans are dying to know is if you guys are single or taken?" Ellen asks and we both laugh.
"Well I'm sorry to say that I am taken , I have been for about 6 months now." Shawn says smiling and the crowd awes.
"That's amazing She is one lucky girl. But Kayla what about you?" she asks and I kinda laugh and look over at Presley and she gives me a small smile. I turn back to Ellen.
"Heh I am also sorry to say that I am taken." I say with a smile.
"And you're dating a certain boybander right, He's in a band called 'IN REAL LIFE'?"she asks
"Yes, I am dating chance Perez, from the band and we have been together going on 10 months." I say smiling.
"Congratulations, is it hard being in a relationship with him, with him being in a band in all?" she ask.
"Um , heh we have our ups and downs but its nothing we can't ever work through, he's always very supportive of everything I do and I am always supporting everything he does." I tell her.
"Well thats sweet, but can we expect anymore collabs from you two ?" she asks and me and Shawn look at each other and smile.
"Well its not out of the question, I would love to work with her again."Shawn says
"Yea I wouldn't mind working with him again. It would be fun," I tell her and she smiles.
"Ok, well when we come back we will get to hear these two perform their new song live for the first time so stay tuned." she says and it cuts to commercial. We stand up and go get ready to perform. Presley comes up to me.
"you ok?"she asks and I nod.
"Yea, I am thanks for being here with me Presley." I say hugging her.
"No problem kay." she says
"Ok kayla 1 minute till were back on, go to the stage." Jonathan says and I nod and go over to the stage. Lets do this.
Once we finished the interview we were free to go. I go to say bye to Jonathan, but he stops me from leaving.
"Kayla, so Shawn was talking to us and he wants you to open for his show next week at the staples center." he says and I look at Presley shocked.
"Are you serious?" I ask excited and Shawn walks over to us.
"I'm guessing you told her already?" he asks
"Yea, I just did." Jonathan says.
"Well what do you say?" Shawn asks
"Um yes I would love too!" I squeal hugging him.
"It's no problem, so I will see you next week then." he says
"Looking forward to it bye Shawn!" I say and he walks away.i turn back to Presley and squeal and hug her.
"alright well, I will call you later on when I get more information about the concert ok, but your done for the day." he says smiling
"Thanks Jonathan bye." I say and me and Presley leave. We get in the car and we drive back to my house. We get inside and I start screaming.
"Excited much?" Presley asks laughing and I laugh with her.
"Yes!" I say and then pull out my phone to call chance but I stop myself.
"Kayla you need to talk to him, I don't like you two not talking to each other." Presley says and I just nod.
"And I will talk to him I just know as soon as I talk to him, I won't like the outcome." I tell her.
"It will be okay." she says hugging me and I hug her back.
"Ok but help me film a quick video for the snap and Instagram." I tell her and she nods and takes my phone and starts recording.
"Hey guys! it's been a minute but I have some exciting news that I will announce in a live later on so stay tuned bye!" I say cheery and blow a kiss at the end. Presley shows me the video and I like it so I post it. I look at the time.
"Okay so I am going to get Brooklyn from your mom's want to come?" I ask her.
"Um I'm gonna stay here I have some school work to finish," she says and I nod.
"Alright I will be back in a little bit bye!" I say and she says bye and I leave. I get to Shawnee's house and go to knock on the door. The door opens and reveals chance.
"Hey." he says and I just shift uncomfortably.
"Hi." I said
"Um what are you doing here?" he asked.
"Uh your mom wanted me to watch Brooklyn for a bit." I said awkwardly.
"Oh, come in." he said and I walked inside.
"Kayla, glad you're here, Brooklyn!" Shawnee says walking over to us.She looks between me and chance.
"Uh chance shouldn't you be at the band meeting?" she asks.
"Uh, it finished and I just came home to get my guitar for the studio." he says and she nods. I just stand there until I see Brooklyn running over to me, I smile and bend down.
"Mommy!" she squeals and I pick her up kissing her cheek.
"Hi princess." I say situating her on my hip.
"Okay, well I have to get going are you going to watch her here or your house?" she asks.
"uh, my house if thats alright, I have to pick up Jayden from school soon." I tell her.
" Yea no problem , I will pick her up later, Brooklyn be good for her alright.Chance can you make sure to lock up when you leave.." she tells him and he nods.
"Ok well I will see you all later bye." she says leaving.
"Ok Brooklyn you ready to go," I ask her.
"Yea, wait I need my blanky." she says and I put her down so she can go get it.
"Kayla." I hear chance say.
"Whats up?" I ask trying to not let my voice crack.
"Can we please talk?" he asks.
"I'm not sure what there is to talk about chance," I tell him getting Brooklyn little backpack ready.
"Please, let me explain." he says. Before I can say anything Brooklyn runs over to me.
"I'm ready mommy!" she says and I smile.
"Alright lets go then, we're going to get Jayden and then you guys can play together." I say picking her up.
"Yay!" she squeals.she then turns to chance.
"Bye daddy!" she says kissing him.
"Bye Brooklyn!"he says smiling at her. He then turns towards me.
"Please can we talk?" he asks. I sigh.
"Later on, you have to get back to the studio." I say and he nods. We walk to the car and I buckle her in. I get in the drivers seat and then we are off to go pick up Jayden from school.
