The newly escaped traits ran down the corridor at top speed. Patton was going faster that what Logan thought physically possible.
Patton's POV
Nothing was going to stop me from saving my son. I had to find him and tell him everything will be alright.
As soon as we arrive at the nightmare room I barreled through the door with out a second thought. Nothing could stop a dad on a mission. Suddenly I was surrounded by forest and I began to rethink my decision of not waiting for the others, but instead of waiting I decided to follow my fatherly instincts. The small streams of moonlight through the trees were almost enough to distract me from the pitted feeling in my stomach. I knew something is about to go horribly wrong. In the distance I sam something move. Following the movement through the trees, I noticed an opening in the trees. Though it looked to be surrounded by shadows.
Then I see him. Virgil. In the middle of the hoard of shadows is Virgil. He was holding something shiny that I couldn't decipher. As I got closer it became increasingly more apparent that the shadows were surrounding him. The clear violence in there stance gave away their intent.
All at once they dove towards him, swirling in chaos. In the midst of the confusion I found myself running, running towards the anarchy. I halted in my step, watching the shiny object, a knife, being grabbed from his hand and plunged into his stomach. Slowly, shadows dissipated as Virgil collapsed forward on the ground.
I ran as fast as I could to reach is fallen form. The image of his paling body with blood trailing from his colorless lips, shaking with every intake of breath ingrained in my mind forever. I dove forward, scooping up is body in my arms. He was so light and frail. While rocking him back and forth he opened his eyes staring up at me. A faint smile graced his lips, but it disappeared due to the sharp pain that pierced through him.
"Hey Pat," he struggled,"I'm s-sorry. I-I so so sorry." He cried to me.
"Shhh it's ok," I said while rocking him, struggling to keep my own tears at bay. "How do I make the bleeding stop Virge? How do I save you?"
He just shook his head. "Please don't. There's no point anymore. No reason. No point." My heart broke at his words.
"Don't you ever say that. There is always a reason to continue. No matter what there is always something to keep fighting for, so don't you ever tell me that you're giving up. Logan and I need you Virgil. Thomas needs you. Roman needs you," I cried as my body shook. "P-please don't leave us." I whispered to him.
