Chapter 52- Do you not go tanning anymore?
Liam grabs my two bags and knocks on the door as I get out of the car and walk the stairs to their front entrance.
Just as the door opens my eyes lighten up to finally meet Kate but Liam's widen in shock and he shakes his head slowly.
"Liam?" I hear a drunk yet very familiar voice which makes me want to show myself more but I pin myself against the wall, right next to the door.
"Cayson? What- what are you doing here?" Liam asks, casually as Cayson opens the door bit more and Liam's eyes widen.
"Oh wow, the whole crew is here," he nervously chuckles and I internally groan in frustration.
"Liam?" Another familiar yet shocked voice asks and I hear it get clearer and clearer as it approaches to the door.
Liam scratches the back of his head. "What- I- I thought your flight was delayed," she says between gritted teeth and I know what she means.
"Uh- it- it was but- but it arrived on time," he stutters but emphasizes the words to let Kate know that I have arrived.
"Oh shit," Kate mutters under her breath.
"Then like, why didn't you take it?" Another voice speaks as they walk towards the door and I figure it's Chris.
"Uh- well, I was quite early but I forgot something in my car, and when I tried to get back, I was fashionably late, might I add, and missed my flight," Liam makes up an excuse and I just smile.
He slowly eyes me and sees a smile on my face and he also smiles. "What the heck? You think something is funny Liam?" Another familiar male voice asks, Tyler.
"No, what?" He nervously chuckles. "I don't think anything is funny."
"Actually, your face is debating otherwise," an annoyed voice answers and my eyes shoots up towards the sidelights on the street.
Oh my god, Ian. My eyes start to swell up with tears but I bite them back. They are all here, in this house, at the same time.
Liam notices me and I try to tell him to get this over with. I think he understood what I meant and took a step closer to the door.
"What- what are you guys investigating me for? This is my house as much as it's Kate's so, I don't need to answer to any of you about my day," Liam pushes through someone and walks inside with my bag.
I thanked Liam with a smile before he went inside and someone closed the door. I finally unpin myself from the wall and take a deep breath in.
Suddenly my phone vibrates and I check it to find a message from Liam. It said:
"Hey venus, I'm sorry about that. I didn't know they were all here, or else I would've told you."
"It's fine," I type back quickly and sigh as I walk towards their backyard.
"Actually, they don't seem to be leaving any time soon but until then, you can live in the backyard room. It has everything you need."
"Thank you Liam," I turn my phone off and walk towards the backyard room.
When I walk in the room, I see the whole room filled with guy stuff. There is a camera hanging on the side of the bed. A baseball bat laying on the ground. Clothes scattered around the whole room.
I sigh and start to clean the room slowly.
___
After half an hour the whole room looked as good as new. I smile and sit down on the bed and pull out my diary from my side bag.
Am I even supposed to be here, in New York? I think I should've stayed where I was. I just wanted to make sure that they are all fine. After everything that happened, I just hope they are all fine. They seemed fine. All of them were together and at Kate's house, even Cayson was there.
Maybe I should just go back. I couldn't have just walked in the house along with Liam or else they would've completely freaked.
Liam signed me up for college and I'm hoping to see them there. I have been taking online classes in Washington and now that I'm going to go to an actual university, it's making me nervous. I'm nervous to see them there, I'm nervous of what they think of me now, I'm nervous of seeing the change that has occurred in three years.
I sigh and close my eyes as i lean towards the bed. After a moment the door opens and my eyes flutter open.
I look at the door and notice that it's a man. I quickly jump out of the bed, putting my diary in my side bag and, turn around.
Shit.
"Excuse me?" A manly slurred voice calls out as he notices that I'm inside the room.
I hear footsteps approaching me and I grab the baseball bat in my hands for protection. I feel a hand on my shoulder and I turn around, swinging the baseball bat with me.
He quickly grabs ahold of the baseball bat and it falls out of my hand when I notice who is holding onto it. My eyes widen and I try to take him in.
His hair, not bouncy and a mess but nicely combed back. He's wearing pants and shirt instead of shorts and T-shirt. His arms have never looked so muscular and the shirt fits his chest perfectly. I slowly turn to look up into his emerald green eyes. His eyes hold so much pain and desperation yet he doesn't move.
"V-venus?" He says, something glistening in his eyes.
"Cayson," I breath out.
His arm reaches out to my face but before he could touch me, he pulls it back to himself. Something dark flickers in his eyes and he takes a step back.
"You're not really here, you're just- I'm just imagining things," he breathes out and keeps blinking. "You'll go away eventually."
He keeps closing and opening his eyes so I could disappear but I'm not a hallucination. I badly want to tell him that I'm real but I don't think it's my place to do so anymore.
"Cayson," I take a step towards him and he stops.
"You're- you're actually here?" He asks and I nod in return and a smile appears on his face.
"I mean yeah," I whisper and he quickly pulls me into a hug. I smile and hug him back, he still smells the same, like home.
I have missed his hugs, his silly little jokes, his humor, holding his hands, watching movies together. I have missed him.
A tear rolls down my eyes and we pull apart. "Why- Why are you crying?" He asks as he notices my tear.
"Nothing I'm just- I'm just happy to see you," I reply back and he smiles.
"Don't cry, tell me who makes you cry and I will deal with them," he says and tries to take a step towards me but he loses control and falls on the bed.
I chuckle softly and he smiles while just looking at me. "What?" I ask.
"Nothing. It's just- it's nice seeing you laugh again. Actually, it's nice to see you again," he replies back and pulls me onto the bed. "I missed you Stavish."
I take a deep breath in and sit up next to him on the bed. "You- you're drunk right now Cayson. I don't think you like me very much at your sobered up state."
"Why did you leave me?" He whispers and I can't help but notice his perfect features.
His hand caresses my cheeks and my eyes involuntarily close shut. Every part of my body is ignited by his touch as it send electric chills down my spine.
"I- I- I was dying Stavish, and you didn't even bother looking back?" He asks and I look away. "Your friends needed you. I needed you. Why did you leave?"
I don't respond for a moment and I feel his teary eyes concentrated only on my face. His voice is so shaky that he could burst out in tears any moment now.
"I- I don't have answers to your questions Cayson, just know that I didn't mean to leave you guys hanging like that. I just- I had to leave," I stand up and look down at him.
"What- what happened to- to my old Stavish? The one who would blush every time I compliment her? The one who was always putting her friends before her? The one whom I loved?" He asks and I just turn around.
"She is gone Cayson, long gone," I reply back, almost as a soft whisper but he catches it quickly and stands up, making me face him.
"I don't think she's gone. I think she's scared of something," he whispers back, his hands on my shoulders. "You broke three hearts that night when you disappeared Venus. You know for how long Ian and I searched for you? Your house was locked and nobody knew where to find you. We were scared, I was so scared."
"I'm sorry," I mumble under my breath and he scoffs.
"You think a sorry will fix this?" He asks and his eyes slowly closing but he tries hard to keep it open. "You've been gone for three years, nobody knew where you were."
He's now mumbling something as I slowly place him onto the bed. He holds onto my hand and stops talking. I sigh before pulling his legs up and slowly take my hand back.
"I really am sorry," I whisper and kiss his forehead before leaving the room.
___
I knock on the door of Kate's house and it opens almost immediately and Kate appears. I breath out and her eyes are watery.
"V-venus?" She says and I nod as she pulls me into a hug. "Oh, I have missed you so much."
"I have missed you too Kate, I have missed you too," I whisper back and notice Liam in the background with a small smile on his face.
"How- how are you? What did you do to your hair? Also, do you like not go tanning anymore because you're pale as fuck?" She bombards me with all these questions.
I sit her down on the couch and tell her everything. How I lost all my hair because of chemo and radiation. I tell her that I'm pale because my red blood cells are decreasing day by day, making me weak.
We catch up on everything that has happened in these three years.
___
I updated early because i have been stress writing. Yeah that's a thing apparently.
I'm so stressed out to walk the stage at my graduation and all I have been doing is eating and writing.
Btw, I almost cried when I was writing Cayson and Venus's scene. He is so vulnerable.
Anyways, I'm happy to have her back in New York! Yay!
Don't forget to support me by pressing that little star at the bottom of your screen. It really motivates me to write more for you.
