Jake's POV:
After that forbidden kiss, I remained seated, lost in my thoughts, watching the seconds tick away on my watch. An hour and thirty minutes had passed into the early morning, and I realized I had lost track of time. My search for my best friend, King, was overdue, and the window of my birthday celebration had likely closed.
But that kiss... it was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It wasn't a mere kiss of lust; it was a complex fusion of emotions – a blend of sadness, happiness, and love. My heart raced uncontrollably, its beats resonating so loudly that it seemed like the entire world could hear the frantic rhythm.
I made my way to the rooftop, determined not to disturb Chris further that night. It was a time filled with revelations and surprises.
I leaped from rooftop to rooftop, scanning the cityscape until I spotted King, indulging in his feast.
"Hey, dude, where'd you get that?" I inquired.
"Hey, dude, where have you been?" he retorted, a hint of concern in his voice.
"I'm asking you a question, and you're answering with another question? That's a rather idiotic response," I replied with a forced laugh, hoping to conceal the complex emotions swirling within me.
"Just around the corner. But seriously, where have you been?" King persisted.
"Can I share something with you? Promise me that if you hear this, you'll never tell anyone, and you'll never abandon me," I bargained with my best friend.
"Hey, I've been your best friend for... well, I don't really remember, but it's been a long time," he replied, dropping the lifeless body of his victim and savoring the blood that still clung to his lips.
"Here it is. I didn't consume my victim. We became friends, and I accidentally kissed him, and now I think I might be gay," I confessed in a rush, hoping he would understand every word.
"WHAT!? YOU'RE GAY? MAN, I'VE BEEN BY YOUR SIDE FOR NINE DECADES, AND I NEVER REALIZED THIS, DUDE!" King exploded in anger.
"I know," I muttered softly. "I think so. When he said he wanted to give me a chance, that's when I kissed him. It was happiness, and when I kissed him, it was like I felt love."
"Okay. I'm your best friend, and I'll accept you, even though it took you 102 years to find yourself gay all this time," King declared.
Overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, I rushed into his embrace, and he hugged me back. "Thanks, brother," I whispered.
"Alright, that's enough, man. This is getting too... uh, 'gay-ish,'" he demanded.
"I'm just savoring the moment," I said with a grin.
"Just this time, bro," he chuckled, and we continued to reminisce about the years we had shared.
The next morning...
I donned my black leather jacket and aviator Ray-Ban sunglasses, and I made my way to Chris's apartment to leave a note. Reluctant to encounter him and unsure of how he was handling the situation, I left the note on his doorstep before swiftly departing.
