Chapter 3
"Good bye Gramma. I'll miss you and I try to call more than once a week."
"Ok sweetheart. Take care of yourself."
I hugged my Gramma and started to walk to Callie's family. But she grabbed my arm to stop me. I turned around back to her and smiled.
"Yes?"
I asked. She looked at me with a serious face.
"Ruby, you know you can tell me anything right? I mean anything. If you have trouble with something don't hesitate to call me and talk about it. Ok dear?"
"Ok..... Don't worry, I'll be fine."
I started to walk away as she mumbled something.
"It's not you I'm worried about, if your-"
I nearly tripped zoning out listening to my Gramma. I literally ran into Callie's dad.
He turned around and smiled then gave me a big hug. Which kinda surprised me, I mean, he was nice and all but, he has a bit of a temper. And he isn't like your neighborhood friendly father. He was a wrestler in collage. And he was like, 6 feet tall..... and buff...... very buff.
He pulled away and smiled a big toothy smile. I gave him a small smile in return, and went over to Callie's mother, who was crying. I knew she would, she is just very sensitive and loves her daughter. I gave her a big hug and told her I would keep an eye on Callie. She just nodded and wiped her tears going to her husband. Next I went to Johnny who was just fiddling with an action figure in his hand. I came down to his level and tapped his shoulder.
"Can I have a hug little man?"
His flashed a smile and almost tackled me off my knees. He leaned in to my ear and whispered a little thing that made my heart melt.
"Take care of my sister, ok Rue?"
I pulled him back off me and eyed him with my hazel eyes.
"I promise I'll take goooood care of her ok bud?"
"Yay!!! And I really am sorry about the box of pictures Rue."
He said with a frown. He put his head down and sighed. I took his head in my hands and made his stare at me.
"Aww bud, the box didn't even spill over. It was all cleaned up."
"Yes it did. I saw the mess, I saw the picture of you and me and Cal and Ricky at the carnival. I never saw that picture before."
I looked at him, stunned. I never showed anybody those pictures. They stay in that box at the bottom of my dresser. But the box was cleaned up when I opened my eyes. What was happening?
"Johnny!!! Come over here!"
He ran out of my arms, and I stood up. I'm so confused. The box was spilt, and Johnny saw that to. But it was cleaned up without anyone doing anything. I brushes off the thought and said one final good bye to the family. Then climbed into the car with Callie and started to drive off. We are going to collage.
