Aarinola's POV
Folashade swung the door open, and immediately we walked inside the class, all eyes were on us.
What is it with people and staring?
"Good morning Mr. Kenny." Folashade greeted the mathematics teacher.
An empty desk and chair was opposite Folashade, so I settled in myself.
"Good morning. You know I don't like late comers, " Mr. Kenny drawled. "But I suppose I will let you off this once, for her sake." Mr. Kenny enunciated, directing to me.
"Thank you sir." Folashade mumbled.
"Introduce yourself young lady." Mr. Kenny said, smiling lightly, and the whole class snapped their heads towards me. Waiting for me to begin.
Some of the students were mumbling incoherent words, and some were throwing deadly daggers at me.
What's up with them? They're already judging a book by it cover.
"Isn't she the girl that hit Jason?" A girl with black locks mumbled to a boy that was sitting besides her.
Oh! That made so much sense.
So that was why their were giving me death glares? I thought as much.
No. You did not.
The rambling, murmuring, mumbling soon stop as Mr. Kenny yelled at the whole class.
Okay. Perfect opportunity to introduce myself.
I'm allergic to noise. Who isn't?
I stood upright, adjusting my dress as I spoke, "Hello everyone! My names are Aarinola Johnson, I'm 16 years old. My mom and I moved here three days ago, and I hope we will get along well." I finished with a fake smile.
There was no freaking way I would get along with them. No way!
Everyone muttered a 'Us too' to me. I outwardly rolled my eyes at them.
They obviously didn't meant it.
Folashade sent me a small smile, I smiled back, kindly returning the gesture.
"Alright Aarinola. You're most welcome here, and lest I forget, I'm m Kenny Gabriel." Mr. Kenny introduced himself.
Well, isn't he a good teac--
"As we have all settled down, I will begin the lesson," Mr. Kenny said, walking towards the board with a maker. "Our topic today is Construction of Quadratic equation." Mr. Kenny said, a smile playing on his lips.
Quadratic what?
What the hell is that?
Is that even a word? Quadratic equation?
No Lord! Please have mercy on me.
Construct Quadratic Equation from the following Root was boldly written on the board.
(1) X= 5 or X = 2
(2) X= 1/2 or X = 4
(3) X = 1/3 or X = 1/2
My eyes rolled back and forth. I glanced back at the board, then back to Mr. Kenny.
My vision blurred in an instant.
I think I'm gonna pass out.
*******
I heard faint voices here and there. I tried to open my eyes, but it was as if my eyelids were glued. I couldn't open them.
"Bring more water. I think she's gonna wake up." A voice belonging to Folashade said.
Water?
What do they want to use the wa--
Before I could even complete the sentence is my head, a bucket of water was splashed all over me.
My eyelids opened instantly "What the hell?" I stared at the people surrounding me in horror.
"Thank God, " Folashade sighed. "You fainted during lectures." Folashade cocked a questioning brows. "Are you sick by chance?"
I fanited-- uh?
"No" What? I wasn't going to tell her I fainted because of the rhetorical mathematics questions I saw.
The questions overrides my intelligence, not that I know mathematics in anyway.
In fact, I hated anything that deals with calculation.
"Well, if that is the case, then see you later. I'm off to Physics class" Folashade stated. I was so glad she wasn't being pushy about it.
The mentioned of Physics made me cringed mentally.
"Okay, bye." I waved her off. "You can go, you know. Thanks for the care." I said sarcastically to the other students beside me, they were just looking at me like I'm made of gold or something, and besides, they have other classes to attend.
I got up on my feet, dusting off the dirt from my body.
My body was soaked with water, I groaned in annoyance. Did they really have to splash water all over me?
I was going to wake up anyway.
Arguing endless inside my head, I hadn't even realized that I was in Literature class, even.
My best subject
I walked inside the class room, and luckily the teacher hasn't arrived yet.
And right on cue, a teacher walked in.
"Good morning Class." The teacher greeted.
"Good morning Mr. Ben." All the class replied, and of course minus me, I didn't know his name.
Mr. Ben's eye roamed around as he recognized the students, but his roaming eyes steadied when they got to me.
And oh Lord, he was going to ask me to intro--
"Young lady, please introduce yourself." Mr. Ben smiled politely at me, and as if the class was waiting for him to talk, all the sickening and the healthy eyes snapped back at me.
Okay. This had happened for the second time, it's not that I'm complaining. Fine! I am complaining.
I was sick of introducing myself to everyone and everywhere I go,
It's just gonna last for a day. I thought.
I mentally flouted, "Hello everyone! My name is Aarinola Johnson, my mom and I moved to Lagos two days ago. I hope we will all get along well." To my surprise, I wasn't faking the smile like I did in math class.
Well, I mean, it really isn't my fault. I hated anything and everything that deals with maths.
My eyes flicked back to a girl with brown strands, she was smiling sweetly at me, and surprisingly I returned back the smile with gleaming teeth.
Lord! What was wrong with me, I was the easy going person.
"Well, Ms. Johnson, you're highly welcome." Mr. Ben said, and after some minutes, he began the lecture.
Well, I can't call it lecture, more like trying to pair up partners or so I thought.
But for what?
"Well, the drama is gonna take place at the end of the term party, and I hereby titled the drama 'The Princess And The Gateman'." Mr. Ben said making the students gasp in excitement. "But however, it is still part of your test and consider yourself lucky with good marks if you perform well, but beware not all the class will get to participate. I'm going to call out names and the role each and everyone of you will play."
"Bella and Brian, "Mr Ben called out, "Now your part is, you both are going to act as the princess parents, you always tell your daughter that she would never marry a person that is not from a royal family, but at the end you will accept her decision." Mr. Ben enunciated, Bella and Billy nodded their heads understandingly.
"Rebecca and Samuel," Mr. Ben called out, "You both are the Princess in-law, who always support the Princess in following her heart.
"Alex, you are going to act as the king's younger brother, who seems like a good and loyal brother on the outside, but on the inside you just want out throw your elder brother, so royalty could be yours.
"Bisola and Cara, you both are the princess maids, who always talks about how the princess was in love with a non royalty blood."
"Lastly, Aarinola as the Princess," Mr. Ben called my name and everyone cheered. Well, I wasn't expecting to be one of the participants, I mean I just got here. "You had always been in love with the gateman, physically and mentally but no one knew, well except for your two maids. You always like being around the gateman and fantasied a lot about him. Your parents finally got to know that you are indeed in love with the gateman, you plead with them and told them to ponder on your choice, they didn't but at last they did."
"And now, who is very bold enough to be the gateman amongst you?" Mr. Ben asked the boys and they all muffled "am not"
"I am and I will." A volunteering voice said.
I turned my head to the direction of the voice, I gulped in a breath when The Guy Who Pushed A Girl Against My Locker's eyes bored into mine with a victorious smirk.
Was he here for revenge or what? I mean, he can't just appear out of nowhere and decided to partner up with me.
Not that I really care.
