I woke up to see my mom, dad and sister in the room. Doug and Mari were sat in the chairs talking and Mandy was by my side watching me sleep. "Hey baby girl, how are you feeling?" She said softly when I opened my eyes.
"I'm alright I guess." She caresses my cheek causing me to smile brightly.
"BECKY!" I heard my sister cheer. She jumped off dad's lap and ran to my side. I giggled lightly and held my hand that didn't have a cast on it to her. She took my hand and I squeezed hers gently.
"Hey Mari, I'm sorry I won't get to play with you much, not that I do anyway. But I won't get to do much with my wrist."
"It's okay sissy, I just want you to get better so you can do Hamilton in the winter, that's what I want most. For you to be okay." Dr Johnson then came in and smiled at me. He came to my side and went straight into a few checks.
"How are you feeling Becky?"
"I feel weird, I still feel numb from the waist down. Will I have to walk?"
"No, you are going to be wheelchair bound for two weeks for the stitches to be secure." I instantly put on a frown. "You can't be putting any pressure on your legs Mandy, are you able to carry her, if she needs to go up stairs somewhere where there's no elevator, I'm particularly thinking the theatre."
"Yes, I can. She's only a small little bean."
"Yeah, Mari's going to be taller than me before she's even in high school." I laugh.
"Okay, so in that case, you will be allowed to be at the shows just be careful with yourself, the worst thing to happen is for you to rip the stitches." I flinched at the thought.
"Thank you, Dr Johnson." I said.
"I'll go get you a collapsible wheelchair ready for. You have to stay tonight, and tomorrow you can have one person stay and then you are free to leave Tuesday morning after we do final check ups on you at 10am."
"Oh, thank you." I said shocked I was allowed to leave so soon. My doctor left and dad walked over.
"I guess you want mom to stay with you?"
"Daddy, don't think that. I love you both the same, I wouldn't be part of the family without either of you. It's up to you guys who stays. In the ideal world I'd want you both here. You're my mom and dad and so I'm not choosing between you."
"That's so sweet of you to say princess. I'll take Mari back, mom can stay. She was there when you fell."
"That's a really bad excuse Daddy, but okay. I love you so much. Can you bring me some fresh clothes tomorrow morning for me to wear the next two days. I'll sleep in these shorts and top, but I'll need something fresh for tomorrow and Tuesday. Oh and maybe some entertainment, my laptop would be good, and whatever Broadway stuff we have on film."
"Of course, we can then go buy a pack new sharpies so people can sign your cast on Tuesday."
"Thanks Daddy, you're the bestest." He gives me a kiss and lifts Mari up, I give her a sisterly kiss and wave them goodbye. "I love you both." I said and waved until the door shut.
"Becky, I have something you ought to know."
"Okay what?"
"Josh tried to call you while you were in surgery. I didn't pick up, but I thought you should know. He left a few texts as well."
"Oh. I don't know if I should talk to him. Maybe I'll call in the morning, it's late and I should be getting to sleep." Mandy nodded her head and pulled the couch out to form a bed. She came back over to me and smiled softly at me.
"Okay, goodnight my little princess. I love you so much and you will be fine, I promise. You will find the perfect guy for you, someone who deserves your love."
"Okay. Thanks mommy. I love you too. Goodnight." She kissed my forehead and headed back to her pull out bed. She got in and I laid on my back, trying to sleep. I usually slept on my side , curled up in a ball, but now I had to be flat on my back, legs and arms all touching the bed. I tried sleeping and got a few hours of rest that night.
