Third person's POV
Sana was sitting on the bed in one of the hospital's rooms she broke into tears after she ended her phone call with haru, the latter is a teenager now. She comforted him that she is totally fine while he is in Japan with momo's parents. She touched her heart and sighed when the nurse came to check on her heart monitor "where is chaeyoung? How is he?"
"He is still under the surgery but everything will be fine don't be worry miss sana" she humbly smiled leaving sana to rest a bit.
Mina, on the other hand, was sitting on the hospital's roof surrounded by some trees and plants... There were no more tears left to cry she looked at the sky and the beautiful starry night when she heard few coughs next to her.
Taecyeon sat beside her and handed her a cup of coffee and he drank his "kyungsoo died" he said "he was one of the most wanted criminals in South Korea" he chuckled "he killed so many people"
Mina nodded to his word "glad that he got what he deserves"
Taecyeon hummed "why do you keep tying up your hair?"
She touched her hair and looked at him "I don't know"
"I love your hair when it's long and untied"
He was obviously flirting with her but why she didn't care? Why being married didn't matter to her?
"I am not trying to sound rude but I guess your life with chaeyoung is not going so well?"
"How did you know?" she pressed on her lips "I mean no it's not" she took a sip of her warm coffee as she exposed her failed marriage life.
"Your eyes don't shine like before and I guess it's obvious that sana and he have an unbreakable connection"
"Thanks for reminding" mina rolled her eyes and the two laughed at her silly fate.
"A few years ago I fell in love with a girl, she was my whole life" out of nowhere his eyes were filled with sadness "but her life was with someone else" mina looked down... His story is similar to hers, they probably share the same pain "I always hated how she talks about him or even look at him so I decided to break up with her"
"What? Why? You loved her"
"Her happiness is more important than my selfish love mina" he smiled at her "life will go on and I will find another girl"
"Did you?"
"Uhm not yet" he laughed and stared at her eyes "but I will one day"
"Why are you telling me this?" she asked in a low voice.
"What I am trying to say is... Let it go... If you ever want something badly, let it go. If it comes back to you, then it's yours forever. If it doesn't, then it was never yours, to begin with"
"Do you think so?"
Taecyeon nodded and his phone rang "I need to go now, I will call you soon" he winked at her as she watched him leave.
Not so much passed when mina went to chaeyoung's surgery room but she couldn't enter... Seeing him lying there lifeless was so painful for her to witness. She decided to wait for him outside where jeongyeon and momo were sitting holding hands... Praying.
Sana, on the other hand, was sitting in front of them with the IV connected to her arm she looked pale and exhausted. Everyone can tell how the last few days were hard on her. She looked up and bit her lower lip as tears fell over her cheeks.
Reo came out of the operation room with a big smile on his face and mina rushed to him "how is he?"
"My son in law wants to live badly, the surgery was successful and now all we have to do is wait for him to wake up" he hugged his daughter who broke into tears. Sana upon hearing this news got tired and dizzy. As if she made sure chaeyoung is fine she fainted on the chair. Mina was the first one to notice her, she quickly called nurses and they helped her to take her to the room where mina and reo did a check up on her condition.
"She is tired and she just needs to rest nothing to worry about" mina comforted momo who couldn't stop crying.
Few hours passed...
Sana woke up before chaeyoung as much as the nurse insisted on preventing her from standing up but sana was stubborn.
"What's happening in here?" mina said while coming into sana's room.
"Doctor, she is not listening to me"
"I just want to make sure he is fine" sana begged "please, I just want to make sure he is breathing steadily at least"
Mina clenched her jaw "bring her a wheelchair" she ordered the nurse whole sana smiled at mina who didn't have the strength to smile back.
Chaeyoung's room
Sana broke into tears as she saw chaeyoung laying on the bed, there was a bandage on his left chest where kyungsoo made a wound and she can clearly see the burns from the candle's wax.
"My baby" she sobbed while holding his hand "my hero" she added kissing his hand "I am here" she whispered.
It was the time for chaeyoung to wake up he moved his head and slowly opening his eyes trying to get used to the bright lights of the room.
"Chaeyoung?" said sana standing up, she ignored her dizziness and held his cheeks "you are awake?"
"Sana" he groaned "sana"
"I am here, I am here" she cried when his eyes met hers.
"Now I am totally awake" he breathed as she leaned in, leaving a peck on his lips.
Mina was watching by the room's door, she cried silently... Watching her husband being touched by another woman... She stepped back. Maybe this is the best choice she can take at this proper moment.
After chaeyoung was totally awake, mina and her father were checking on him and discussing his condition while jeongyeon was joking around randomly making both sana and momo laugh from time to time.
They didn't notice chaeyoung's frown while staring forward "mina, is it normal that I don't feel my legs?" he asked grabbing everyone's attention.
"What do you mean?" mina panicked, he touched his thighs down to his feet "I can't feel my touch mina, is it normal?"
"Try moving your toes" said reo.
"I am trying" he yelled a bit before he breathes as if he ran a marathon "I can't"
"Doctor what does that mean? Is it because of the anesthetic?" jeongyeon asked.
Reo shook his head "the two bullets hit his back and they probably damaged your nerves-"
"And?" sana cut him off while stepping forward.
Reo brushed his white hair and frowned "I can't say anything before I do a checkup but-"
"Paralyzed" mina said in a low voice.
"I am what?"
"Paralyzed" said reo.
Chaeyoung rubbed his face and looked around "I want to stay alone please"
"Chae-" sana approached him but he looked away.
"I want to stay alone!" he added with a loud voice. They all complied with his desire and stood outside the room.
"There is no chance doctor?" jeongyeon pleaded "a surgery or something?"
"Physical treatment but it will take him time" reo replied.
"It's all because of me" sana said under her breath.
"Yes it is" mina sassed "I am going to check on my patients staying her is suffocating"
As if sana needed a reason to break into tears she sobbed silently with jeongyeon side hugging her trying to comfort her about the hard days that are waiting for her.
Chaeyoung's POV
I am paralyzed.
I can't walk or move my feet... I wish I was dreaming but the pain I am feeling on my chest is damn real.
I tried moving my foot and toe but why my body is not obeying my brain?
Mina came into my room and I can see how mad she is "mina, where is sana?"
She blew air from her nose and glared at me, angry mina is so scary, to be honest "you are still asking about her?"
"How can I not?" I hope she didn't hear me "we suffered a lot in the last few days mina I am just making sure she is fine"
"She is... Don't worry" she checked the IV back and looked down at me "did it hurt?" she said touching my chest and I nodded.
"If we didn't run away I would probably be dead now"
She cupped my face but as always... I felt nothing "you should rest and don't think too much okay?"
I nodded "I will try" I smiled at her and turned my back to her... I wish I woke up with amnesia... Living while trying to forget sana will be hard especially after what happened in the last few days.
