Sean's POV
"Leila..." I called her name in a very pleading way.
"Sean...what's wrong. Tell me." She started panicking.
"I'm sorry. I tried. I swear it's not my fault." I was so desperate to make sure my mate didn't misunderstand me.
"About-" She started but I cut her off.
"Just don't misunderstand me. I don't know whom else I should talk to and-" This time she interrupted.
"Sean..." She called my name in a composed and stern tone. So I came to rest too.
"Take a deep breath." I did what she told me to.
"I don't and won't blame you for anything that has gone wrong or will go wrong. I know you must've tried. I trust you. I swear I do."
I loved the way she was so understanding. She didn't say much but what she said, was enough.
"Leila. I went to the which. And...she refused to break the bond." I told her.
I wasn't afraid that Leila would get mad at me. I was just heartbroken to already know that my mate had never wanted me.
Now that Leila was for me forever, my whole existence demanded her but she...she didn't need me. She could do with or without me.
That is one reason I hate Vampire-Human bonds. I was suffering a lot more than she was. She was my need now, but I wasn't hers.
I felt something I had never before...rejected, and the funniest part – by my own mate.
There was silence. She didn't reply. As if under a trance, I knew that she was still on the call but her silence was so heavy that I thought that one thing I never wanted to face, now punched my on my face, rejection.
What conclusions could possibly come into her mind.
That I must've done something wrong or I was a weakling who couldn't get something easy even while being the King.
"Leila?" I called her name.
She didn't reply just hummed.
This broke me. I felt my heart sinking.
"I...want to meet you." I was more like asking for permission rather than telling her.
She again just hummed.
"I...I'll reach the city in a few hours and by that time your school would, most probably, be over...I'll pick you from your home then." I suggested.
She again just hummed in response.
Anything Leila. Yell at me, blame me but please don't give me the silent treatment.
"You want to talk about it? I can talk to you along the way."
I told her in the hopes she wouldn't feel as if I abandoned her to handle it herself.
"No need. Thanks. Bye." She threw. I was a little taken aback.
After a short silence, I said,
"Okay then. Bye. Meet you soon."
She just hummed in response and just the next moment, dropped the call.
I just hoped it would go easy on her.
Life is...hard.

Leila's POV
After I ended the call, stupid thoughts kept on invading my mind as I wandered in the corridors of my school since it was a free period of mine.
Maybe he didn't try quite hard...
No, he'd never lie.
Come on, he's the Vampire King, how come he couldn't convince just a witch?
Stop it! He's Sean. He wouldn't ever lie to me. He's not a cheater. He would've told me if he didn't want to reject this bond.
But still think-
Enough! It's Sean we're talking about. I trust him!
I calmed myself and kept on disagreeing with my stupid mind's stupid ideas.
I was hurt, why? I don't know.
I wasn't expecting this.
From the very beginning, I never thought that there would be any problem rejecting this bond.
There must be another way. This bond, it would only be an obstacle in my life. I wanted a normal human life with the usual problems.
My grades, friendships, small fights, doing things I wasn't supposed to. All these things, they weren't possible with a supernatural mate.
Even if I decide to accept Sean, it would mean I would have to accept his ways.
I'd never want a rough relationship. If I say yes, then I'd give my all in my relationship with sincerity.
Oh Gosh! What have I got myself into?
The rest of the day at school went in a blur. I couldn't understand a single word my teachers said. As if they were speaking a foreign language.
I checked my phone and the time was, 1:30 already.
I walked back to home since I was using the bus from some past days to get to school and back.
Emily and my friendship had been a little ignorant.
She did try to keep up the thrill but each time I felt so numb because of her secrets that I didn't feel the thrill too.
We were still besties but not like we used to be. Zack and I were still on amazing terms.
Sometimes, I think maybe guys are better than girls since they don't hurt you the way girls do. Their friendship is something you can always rely on.
I went back home.
"Hey there sweetie. You hungry?" Anna asked as she got up from the couch after putting the remote of the T.V on the table.
"Why? You getting me pizza?" I asked tying to sound my usual self as I took off my converses.
Maybe she felt the unusualness, because she she answered the same way back,
"Sure if you want it."
I gave her a small smile and then picked my converses as I went to the stairs.
"I'm tired. I'll sleep." I told her then I went upstairs.
"Okay then, I'll send the pizza in your room." She yelled and I just shook my head to myself with a smile.
I opened the bedroom door and gosh! Was it dirty.
I threw my bag pack on the floor and cleaned up the room a little.
I, then dipped inside the bed. In a moment, I could've fallen asleep but there was a knock on the door.
"I'm awake." I said unconsciously.
The door opened and Anna came in with the Pizza box and a plate.
She smiled and sat near me. I took the plate as I took one slice from the Pizza box.
I added some ketchup and started doing my holy work – eating.
"So...what's up?" She asked as she rubbed her thighs.
"What what's up? Nothing's up" I said with the bite still in my mouth.
"I mean...how's life going?" She asked.
"Anna, you're talking as if we haven't seen each other for ages." I said as I took another bite.
"No – I mean you sound a little different today. Did something happen? You know, did you have a fight with –"
"Oh, I remembered, Sean will come. We'll hang out for a while." I told her as casually as I could.
"Yeah good." She replied with satisfaction.
"Doesn't anyone else live in this house except us?" I asked trying to change the topic.
"Your brothers are out for some work and Ace was having a headache so she's resting."
I nodded.
----------------------------------
I checked myself for the last time in the mirror as Anna came in.
"He's waiting."
"Yeah, I'm coming."
"He didn't come in. Everything good?"
"Yeah, just that...he was out of city and just came back so he must be tired."
She nodded.
I phone and went outside. Sean was waiting in the car.
I sat in.
"Hey." He said with a sigh as he gave me a smile.
"Hey" I replied the same way.
"Where do you want to go?" He asked.
"Anywhere where I'll get sine food. I'm hungry. Want some dinner."
"Sure." He said with a smile and we drove off...
