Next day..
Riley
6:30am
"Stop being mad." Amaru said to me as I buckled my seat belt, pouting.
"Just drive Amaru." I said to him.
"Stop being mad first." He teased as I stared at him, blankly.
"It's too early for this." I complained.
"Shut up, that's why you got a hickey." He said starting his car and pulling off.
It was currently 6:30 in the morning and we were on our way to school because Amaru wanted to wake me up. School didn't start until 7:15 and it was only a couple blocks from my house. We didn't have to wake up and leave out this early.
"I got it because of you, ugly." I sassed and he smirked.
"So, you're just going to keep being mad?" He asked, looking at me.
"Watch the road, dummy." I said, looking out my window.
I am not a morning person nor will I ever be.
Amaru then hooked up his phone to the AUX cord and I immediately knew he was about to get on my nerves.
"I want to tease you, I want to please you. I want to show you baby, that I need you. I want your body til' the very last drop, I want you to holler when you want me to stop and who can love you like me? " Amaru sang making me bust out laughing as he drove.
"It's too early for your horrible voice and this loud music." I said to him, trying to turn it down but he blocked my hand and continued to sing.
"Nobody." He sang before laughing, looking my way.
"You're a mess. It's way too early." I shook my head as he grabbed my hand.
"You're still mad at me?" He asked and I nodded as he turned the music up more.
"Nobody, baby and who can do it like me?" He sang, looking at me and I looked at him, tucking my lips to keep from laughing.
"Who can give you what you need?" He sang.
"Who can do you all night long?" He sang, kissing my hand.
"Nobody, baby." He sang again and I laughed, not able to contain my laughter anymore.
"What's funny?" He asked.
"You." I said and he smirked.
"Shit, I'm happy." He said.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked him.
"I got the girl of my dreams." He said and I blushed, not expecting that answer.
He rolled all the windows down and turned the music up even more than it already was.
"Oh my god." I laughed, embarrassed as people in the other cars looked at us weird.
"Stop, Amaru." I laughed, rolling my window up.
We pulled up at a red light and all the people in the other cars immediately looked at us because the music was so loud.
"And who can love you like me? Who can sex you like me? Who can lay your body down? Nobody baby." He sang, looking over to me and I shook my head, embarrassed, turning my head to my window .
There was an older Caucasian lady and she smiled at us from her car when she realized Amaru was singing to me.
"See, she like it." He said making me laugh as he pulled off from the red light.
"You're a character." I shook my head at him as he turned the music down.
A few moments later, we were pulling into our school's parking lot. There weren't any other cars in the parking lot, that's how early we were.
"You're so annoying." I said to him.
"You'll be alright." He said taking his seatbelt off and putting his seat back.
"Damn, I didn't even get us nothing to eat." He said and I looked at him.
"You were so busy singing." I sassed.
"IHOP?" He asked and I nodded, anxiously.
"We haven't been there in a minute." He said.
"I know, we've been slacking." I said as he backed out of his parking spot and another car came zooming into the parking lot, almost hitting his car.
"The fuck?" We spoke in unison as we watched to see who would get out of the car.
The car parked next to the school and Amani got out of the passenger side.
"Oh my." I said to myself, knowing there was about to be conflict.
"I know that's not Mani." Amaru said pulling his car back into the parking spot and cutting the engine.
The driver's side door opened and Jay got out and walked over to Amani, hugging her and kissing her on the lips.
Amaru then got out of the car quickly, slamming the door.
"Amaru." I called before opening my door as he made his way over to them.
"Amaru!" I called but he ignored as Jay and Amani realized he was walking over to them.
"Amaru, stop!" Amani yelled once Amaru got over to them and punched Jay in his face, making him fall.
"Stop!" Amani yelled at him as he continued punching him and Jay tried to stop him but he couldn't.
I ran over to them and I tried to pull Amaru off of him but he wasn't having it.
"Amaru, stop!" I yelled, pulling his arm.
"Get off of him Amaru!" I yelled, pulling him and I finally got him off of him as Amani grabbed Jay and pulled him the opposite way.
"Ima kill that nigga!" Jay screamed at Amani.
"You ain't going to do shit nigga!" Amaru yelled back.
"Why would you do that?!" Amani yelled at Amaru and he just shook his head as we walked away.
I looked down at his knuckles and they were bleeding.
"Amaru." I called, not knowing what to do but he just ignored me.
People were now walking into the parking lot and the school door's were now opened.
We made our way to his car and grabbed our book bags. I couldn't believe what just went down and I wish it hadn't. I didn't want Amaru and Amani to be going at it over a guy but I knew that was exactly what was going to happen.
"Amaru, talk to me." I said to him as we walked inside of the school.
"Ri, I'll talk to you later, go to class." He said simply as if nothing happened.
"Amaru, I'm not leaving you. Look what just happened, look at your knuckles." I went on.
"I'm going to the nurse right now." He said trying to get me to go and I just stood there.
"Go to class, I'll be there waiting for you when this period is over." He said and I sighed, giving in.
"Alright, I love you." I shook my head.
"I love you too." He kissed my cheek before walking the opposite way.
I walked down the hallway slowly, thinking about what just took place. I was shaken up a bit about this entire thing. Jay's a drug dealer, who knows what he can do. I didn't need anything happening to Amaru. Especially since Jay threatened to kill him.
I quickly brushed that thought out of my mind as I made my way to my first period class.
I walked into the class and there was sub, as usual.
"Your teacher wants you to complete this assignment." The sub said referring to the board.
"Hand it in at the end of class for credit." She said as I took my seat.
Of course, the were kids from other classes that weren't supposed to be in here but two stood out to me and that was Amanda and Jayla.
It was like every class I had, they would try their hardest to be inside of it and I could've swore they weren't even friends.
I shook my head, taking my attention off of them as I pulled out a note book from my bag and started on the assignment that was on the board.
"Hey." I heard someone say as I took my attention off of my paper to look at them.
"Hello." I said awkwardly when I noticed it was Amanda.
What the hell does she want? I thought.
"Hey, I just wanted to let you know there's no hard feelings, okay?" She said taking a seat as best as she could with her belly.
"Sure." I shrugged as I went back to doing my work.
"Oh and it's cool that you're dating Amaru, he's always liked you." She said and I squinted my eyes, wondering how she knew.
"What?" She asked once she noticed my reaction.
"Nothing." I said once I realized she was just trying to get answers.
"Oh and you have a hickey on your neck." She said and I nodded.
"I know, he put it there." I said smartly, focusing on my paper.
"Oh, you had sex with him?" She asked and I just sighed deeply, refraining from beating her pregnant ass.
"Mind your damn business." I said dropping my pen.
"Woah, I'm not trying to cause conflict." She said rubbing her belly.
"But, I guess we have something in common now." She said smartly and I laughed to myself.
"Does he tell you he loves you while he's having sex with you? Because he said that to me." She went on.
"Bitch, get out of my face with your ugly ass. He was lying to you, clearly. Look who he's with." I snapped and the entire class looked back and instigated.
"No, he settled for less. He couldn't have me anymore, so he settled for you." She said walking away and I closed my eyes, exhaling slowly because I knew that I couldn't touch her or I would get arrested.
My leg shook as I looked up at the ceiling, trying to calm myself down. I knew that I shouldn't even care what she said but I can't lie and say that it didn't get to me.
Why would he have sex with her and not me? I thought.
I tried to shake my thoughts but it wasn't happening. Everything she said kept coming back to my brain, I tried focusing on my work but even then I kept overthinking.
I could hear Amanda, Jayla and the rest of the girls they hang with, snickering in the corner and I just shook my head.
I then pulled out my phone and texted Amaru.
Me: I'm about to snap. - 7:30am
A few moments later, the classroom door opened and Amani came in.
She made her way over to me and sat down.
"Hey Ri." She said to me.
"Hey." I said.
"Hey, young lady. What's your name?" The sub asked.
"Amani." She said as the sub looked for her name on the list and she nodded.
"Alright, complete this assignment." She told her and Amani nodded.
"Is Amaru still here?" She asked and I nodded.
"I'm sorry about that Ri." She said to me and I shook my head.
"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to." I said to her.
"I know, he probably doesn't even want to talk to me." She said, sadly.
"Mani, why would you go back to him?" I asked.
"I honestly don't know, I just really love him." She said and I nodded.
"I understand that but he's no good." I told her and she nodded.
"I know, after the fight he was disrespecting Amaru, saying he was going to kill him and I couldn't stand it anymore." She said.
"Are you done with him?" I asked and she nodded her head.
"For good?" I asked and she nodded again.
"Good." I said relieved.
Amanda and her little group laughed louder and Amani looked over to them and then me.
"They said something to you, didn't they?" She asked and I nodded before explaining everything that happened before she got here.
"Don't worry about that." She said, flagging them.
"They all ugly anyway." She spoke louder and they all looked over to us as I busted out laughing.
"See, they know." She looked to me and laughed as well.
An hour later, class was finally over and we hands our papers in before we walked out.
"What's wrong?" Amaru asked me as soon as I walked out and I shook my head.
"Nothing." I lied.
"Ri, you texted me you were about to snap. What's wrong?" He asked again and I just shook my head, walking down the hall and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"What's going on?" He asked and Amani walked up to us.
"It's Amanda and Jayla again." She said and he looked at her in disgust before actually taking in what she said.
"What did they say to you?" He asked and I just shook my head again.
"Riley, talk to me." He snapped, stopping me and backing me into a locker.
"What's wrong?" He asked and I just looked him in his eyes.
"What did they say to you, Ri?" He asked and I didn't say anything.
"You're my girlfriend, nothing they say matters." He assured me but I was still feeling salty.
I can't lie, I was hurt. I wasn't mad at him or anything, it's just the way that I felt.
"What did they say?" He reluctantly asked Amani.
"Amanda told her that you settled for her because you couldn't have her anymore and that you used to say you love her while y'all were having sex and some other bullshit." She told him and he looked at me.
"She asked her if you do that for her. I guess because she has that hickey on her neck, she assumed y'all were.." She trailed off and he sighed deeply.
"I wish I never even wasted my time with that girl." He shook his head.
"Listen, I love you best friend." He said as I bit at my lip.
"I can't lie best friend, I'm hurt." I finally spoke, quietly.
"Why?" He asked.
"You had sex with her but not me." I spoke bluntly and he shook his head, exhaling.
Mani looked at me sympathetically before walking away, giving us some space.
"I knew this shit was going to happen." He backed away from the locker before looking at me.
"I respect you, you deserve more than a couple I love you's and sex." He said to me.
"You know what you mean to me, if anything I settled for her. I told you what happened that summer." He said and I just stood there, listening.
"I want to marry you." He went on.
"I'm going to marry you." He corrected hisself as kids looked at us weird as they walked passed us in the hallway.
"Let's just talk about this later, alright?" He asked and I nodded.

After school
Amaru had a job interview after school today so he couldn't drive Mani and I home. We were currently on the way to my house and we talked about everything that went down today.
"I'm really sorry, Ri." She said for the 100th time today.
"I'm fine Mani, I get it. You honestly need to be apologizing to Amaru." I said to her as we walked up my street.
"I don't think he's going to forgive me." She said as we stopped at my house and made our way down the walk way.
"He will." I nodded.
"I hope so." She said.
