warnings: blood (this is tvd !)
word count: 992
hey y'all this is my first fanfiction, and
i wanted to try to write one but sorry if it sucks !!
damon salvatore peered into the eyes of his lifeless victim before taking the all of the blood and with that, all of the life out of them. he dropped the lifeless body to the ground and walked away leaving dozens of bodies drained of blood in his path.
he had just gone through a whole town of people, and wasn't done yet. he starts to walk toward the bordering town, mystic falls, virginia. as he reaches the town sign, he sighs. "ugh. i've finally reached this dreadful town. it's time to take it off the map."
as he starts walking down main street, hungry for his first victim in his old hometown, he sees a figure in the distance. but instead of him chasing the victim, this victim runs toward him. only, it wasn't a victim at all. it was stefan.
"stefan? what the hell are you doing here brother? i thought you would've left this dreadful town centuries ago." damon asked him.
"i did leave. but i left recently to track you. you've been leaving thousands of bodies in your trace all along the eastern seaboard. did you really think no one would notice?" stefan asked.
"and no one did. no one human anyway." he told him.
"why are you doing this, brother? for how long? you gonna take all the humans off the map until it's just us? why?" stefan asked.
"because humans don't deserve it. they don't deserve life. they're dreadful, stupid little children. they live on the same earth as us. eat the same food, drink the same water. they leave everything behind for us to deal with. they don't know that some people were forced to live forever!" damon exclaimed.
"brother, can we at least skip the part where you pretend that me making you turn wasn't the best thing that could've happened? you're better this way. you should be thanking me for it!"
"THANKING YOU?" damon asked.
"for turning me into a monster? do you know how many people i've killed? how much blood i have spilled? i can't stop myself, brother! the bloodlust is too strong!"
"oh, shut up! you're acting like you're the only one who has ever been forced to deal with bloodlust. we're vampires. it's who we are! the sooner you realize that, the easier it will be." stefan said.
"oh, i may not be the only one who has to deal with bloodlust. but it's the fact that i didn't have a choice. you forced me to turn and that is something that can never be forgiven, not even in our lifetime. in an eternity. and you best believe me when i say this. i will make it an eternity of misery for you." damon told him as he vamp sped away leaving stefan alone.
◈◈◈◈◈
it was dawn in mystic falls as damon walked the streets, unsure of what to do.
damon knew he resented stefan for making him turn. but he was right about one thing. he knew he had to control his bloodlust. he knew in order to survive an eternity, that's what he had to do. the only question is how the hell to do it.
he was walking at dawn because he knew no one human would be stupid enough to be walking around at night alone. but he was wrong.
far into the distance he saw what he could make out as a woman.
with his bloodlust at an all time high, he couldn't find the focus to vamp speed away.
"please. stay away from me." he pleaded.
"hello? who are you? and why must i stay away?" she yelled out.
"just please don't come any closer. please." he pleaded as the veins appeared his eyes turned from their normal light blue to a menacing black with red sclera.
but she would not listen. she would not stay away from him as he asked.
"why don't humans ever listen?" damon muttered under his breath.
"do you need help?" she asked.
"no! for the last time, i just want you to stay away from me." he told her but she didn't listen yet again.
as she got close enough to see his face, damon looked away trying to hide his face. but again she didn't listen.
"hey. look at me. are you okay?" she said as he turned his face towards her.
there was a moment of silence as she looked directly at him, taking every last look. but she wasn't frightened as he thought. she was just even more intrigued.
she looked up at him, and traced her fingers down the veins of his face, smiling to herself.
"you're not afraid?" he asked.
"no. why would i be? vampires are the most beautiful creatures." she told him.
"you— you know about vampires? how?" he asked her, intrigued.
"why, mystic falls, of course. it's all in the history. the town was full of vampires then, and they're full of them now, too. oh, and, um, there's this one vampire that i have been tracking all along the eastern seaboard leaving hundreds of bodies in his trace. not exactly subtle."
damon, smirked, knowing she was talking about him, "so, everyone in this town knows about vampires? and they just are fine with it?" damon asked.
"oh, no. i only know because my family was a founding family so i know all the history." she said.
"your family was one of the founding families? mine too.
what's your name, by the way. i guess you should tell me if you're gonna tell me you're whole life story." he asked.
"i'm elena gilbert. and you?"
"damon, damon salvatore." he told her.
"why don't you come over to my place. we can talk more there."
"i'd love that." he said.
as they walk together toward elena's apartment, damon realizes that the whole time he was with her, talking, he hadn't even felt an urge to feed. there was something about her that he knew was special. she held his bloodlust off and wasn't afraid. something no one has ever been able to do. not even his own brother or father.
