Song for the chapter:
Theif by Ansel Elgort

Joseph Masciantonio sat on the leather chair while waiting for his eldest son to arrive, then for the eleventh time checking his watch impatiently, just like he had been doing for the last twenty minutes. He muttered swear words under his breath thinking about his son. Then with a loud thud, his office door opened then walked in his son, King Masciantonio.
"Glad you can make it on time son," Joseph blatantly said. He didn't have time to simply sit around for his thoughtless son.
"I had important places to be at," King said with a blank look on his face. No, he did not have anywhere to be at, the only reason to why he was late being he went to bed late so he woke up late. If he told his father that, Joseph will think of him as irresponsible. That King isn't. It will also affect King over time, in many ways. He was responsible but sometimes he prefers to just forget about the rest of the world and just be on his own.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever floats your boat young man," his father rolled his eyes while the corner of his lips twitched in amusement.
"Why am I here dad?" King asked with curiosity. Last night, Joseph had called him saying he wanted King at his office by early morning.
"You're thirty-second birthday is coming," Joseph declared.
"Yes, and what's the problem?" his son clenched his jaw, getting irritated at his dad for stalling.
"It's time King," Joseph paused before replying, "I am going to retire meaning, on your birthday you are going to take over our Cosa Nostra." For any normal people, (People outside the mafia community), this may seem not like a big deal but this was. It was a huge fucking deal.
"What?" King asked stiffened in his seat. He wasn't frightened, now that word did not exist in his dictionary. Not now, not ever. He was just shocked and excited. He had been waiting for this since he was a child.
"Thanks, father" King smirked after a few minutes. He knew his time was coming soon and finally after nearly thirty-two years of waiting, he finally can take his father's place as the Capo. Being a Capo will definitely won't be easy but if King played his cards right then everything will run smoothly.
"But before your birthday, we have things to do to prepare for the ceremony." Joseph grinned seeming to have more than enough confident over his son. He was proud of his son and knew King will be a surpassing Capo. King was the most responsible and mature son out of his siblings. Over the years, he had seen his son working day and night, staying calm and patient in even in the worst situations.
"You have two months till your birthday, and you know the rules. You have two weeks to find your significant other," Joseph said before handing a folder to King.
Rules. Sure, the Mafia didn't follow the government's rules, but that doesn't mean they don't follow rules at all. They had special rules that the crime families had to follow. One of the rule was that the made man had to get married before taking over as the Capo. It was an ancient but important rule, and it was believed that once the Capo got married, they will be capable and that they will have an heir to lead the next generation of Cosa Nostra.
"What is this?" King frowned before opening the folder. Inside there are pages and on each page, there are pictures of girls and their detail.
"These are the made men's daughter in all Chicago, pick whoever you are interested in then we'll go from there." King's scowled as soon as Joseph responded. These girls were attractive but they all had something missing.
"These girls are fine-looking but I already have a girl in mind," King said looking right into his father's eyes.
"And who is this girl that you are talking about?" Joseph frowned. He did not like where his son is going with this.
"I want to marry the youngest daughter of Ramella," King declared openly. King already knew how this conversation is going to go. Joseph is not going to be happy, instead, he was going to be furious.
"Are you crazy?! Do you realize what you are saying?" Joseph roared.
"No, I want to marry her" King confidently said. The Ramella family were the head of mafia in New York. King knew to get why his father was upset, and no it doesn't have anything to do the family. The problem was the fact that they weren't Italian, they were Russian. This was terrible according to his father since there is a stupid Italian mafia rule about how any Italian made man's significant other have to at least have Italian in their blood. Even a little. Which obviously, the Ramella family's blood don't contain. "There is n-,"
"-I don't care about that stupid fucking rule! If I want to marry her then I will marry her. I am not asking for your opinion, I was stating that I will marry her," King let out a frustrated sigh before heading toward the door.
He never really argued with his father. In fact, it was very rare for him but this is important. He wasn't going to let his father or anyone gets in the way of him marrying Angelica. If someone else other than his father talked to him like that, they wouldn't have their tongue by now. It wasn't the first time he has done it so it won't be hard for him to do it now.
"Alright! Fine, I'll arrange a meeting with her father," Joseph shook his head. Joseph was thrilled for his son; he didn't want him to marry someone who he didn't want to. Over the years, he had seen how those marriages ended. And they did not end well.
