My dad has been on duty practically non-stop for the past six days.
"Bye, I've got another late shift today." he grumbled as he clipped his badge onto his uniform.
"Again."
"Yes, again. I'm sorry sweetheart but this is my job." He sighed walking over to me to give me a peck on my forehead, causing me to roll my eyes.
Sweetheart? That's new.
Between Pamela getting shot, and the constant robberies that have been happening for months now, he has no time to talk, no time to sleep, and has been coming home as late as four in the morning.
I care about my dad- even though he used to hurt me and my mother a lot in the past- and so I don't like seeing him all tired and worn out.
I have been alone for five days and I feel like the only people I can really interact with personally is Albert and Ms.Walsh, -my creative writing teacher- it's quite discouraging.
Other than that nothing has really been going on except for the fact that I am actually starting to be more talkative and open to having friends.
For example; I sat at a table next to a bunch of popular kids, and it was actually not that bad, minus the fact that Kaitlyn was straight in the line of my vision and was purposely flirting with Harry while looking utterly stupid in the process.
Lets just say it was a very cringe worthy situation.
"Boo?" the obnoxious sound of her voice rang through my ears.
"Oh be quiet, nobody wants to look at your crusty face."
"Says the girl who never actually dated a guy, how did it feel to be used honey, was it nice?" she retored as the while table laughed along with her.
I eyed Harry as he copied everyone else at the table.
That was a low hit.
"You are so ignorant." I spoke, shaking my head.
"Oh look, it can use big words."
"At least I can actually understand big words."
"Why are you even sitting in this area, who would even talk to you?" she cackled.
"I guess people actually like me, it's nice to see a natural face every once and a while instead of a caked up one like yours." I could tell she was taken off guard when her eyes blinked twice in a row.
"You've probably never touched makeup a day in your pathetic life."
Because I don't care about what people think of me, as much as you do.
"My pathetic life, how rich." I chucked pointing to myself. "You know what, my life may be pathetic, but I don't think anybody's life could be more pitiful than yours."
"Bitch." She grumbled.

All my other classes after went by smoothly; also, the only homework I have is from algebra, but considering my lack of math skills I knew it was going to take me a while, so I completed it problem by problem - with the help of my handy dandy calculator- between each period and by the time school was over, the packet was finally finished.
When I got on the bus I was immediately greeted by Albert's soft grin, the crinkles at the corner of his eyes instantly made me feel welcomed.
The ride home consisted of me venting out to the wise man about my new seating arrangement at lunch as he gave me his attention, while also focusing on the road, -which is quite impressive if you ask me- and I honestly felt so much better about everything once I got home.
Luckily, a day or two ago my ankle stopped aching so I now am free from the hassle of tripping over my own two feet and walking around like I have a stick shoved up my ass.
So I decided to go to the park.
The park is pretty huge, the rolling hills, vibrant colors, and the paths lined with bright trees.
Even the graffiti looks nice.
I don't get out much unless it's for school, but every blue moon I visit the grassy area and just jog to the beat of my music; though, I probably look like a rabid gorilla, but at least I'm getting a work out.
When my music cut off I looked down at it to find out I had a message.
'Hey it's your father, just wondering if you want me to bring home some take-out.' I read to myself, taking a break.
'Yeah sure, when are getting home?' I replied back as I walked over to the swings.
'Around ten, I think.'
'K.'
'Jasmine I hope your still not mad about what happened.'
Why does he always have to bring this up?
'I'm fine, bye dad.'
Sighing, I sat on one of the swings next to two children who were yelling and screaming about who was going higher, and were literally only going four feet off the ground.
Kids ran wildly around the rusting playground, chasing eachother and laughing happily without a care in the world.
They all look so giddy and carefree.
If only they knew what the future would hold for them: school work, summer jobs, high school credits, college applications, so stressful.
I was never that happy as a child.
Several moms all stood crowded around a filled bench as they chatted while also eyeing their children with concern.
They looked as if they someone was going to come out of a bush with a gun; alert and ready to save their kids from anything.
I wonder what their stories are...
"Hey lady!" The little boy that was next to me spoke waving his hands in front of my face frantically.
"What's up?"
"Push me on the swing." he demanded sitting back on the seat, putting his small dark
hands onto the crusty chains.
I raised a brow at his forwardness.
The kids in these parts are ruthless, I swear.
"Maybe if you say it nicer I will." I laughed.
"Maybe if you push me you could get a little bit out of it too." I swore I saw a smirk on his tiny face.
Is this kid hitting on me?
"Oh really now?"
"If you down."
"Alright then." I chuckled as I got up. He nodded proudly making me want to crack up.
I started pushing him and the girl beside us looked angrily at me.
"Don't touch my boyfriend." she snapped as her fiery red hair blew suddenly in the wind.
She look like she wanted to beat my ass.
"Don't get all snappy with me, he was the one flirting." I defensively spoke trying not to look amused.
"Chill, she was just doing me a favor." The boy spoke smoothly.
"A favor." she mumbled before she started swinging again trying to look mad.
I got really quiet so I was left awkwardly standing there.
"Well you two have fun."
