Blush's POV
I ended up dozing off and sleeping for about two hours after I had daydreamed. I got up and walked out of my house. I knew my friend was on wall duty today, so I was going to visit him.
Wall duty was where you guarded the walls surrounding our island. Every island had one. The walls were about 400 feet tall, a good 20 feet thick, and were made of solid stone and metal. It was a five minute walk to my friend's station. I looked around me. There were cute apartment buildings and houses all next to each other. The sidewalk was busy with people who were in a hurry. There were multiple museums and statues scattered all around the area, and lots of little parks where you could take a stroll.
I reached my friend and waved as I walked up to him.
"Hey Burgundy" I said. Burgundy's were small like me, they wore a cap that pushed their hair down into their face and a robin red turtleneck sweater. It was knit to look like a braided pattern Their pants are a dark maroon and their shoes are the same color.
"Hey Blush" he replied. He looked kind of comical with his heavy boots on that were issued to him for his job. He was carrying a pointy metal staff as well. "How are you today?" He asked.
"I'm good, you must be sweating underneath all those clothes." I replied back.
"I am, it's not easy being a guard, but at least I get to have a purpose on the island." He said, nodding his head.
Guard duty is usually only given to the darker colors, so I wasn't becoming a guard anytime soon. If you got guard duty, for two weeks you either had to work days or nights, standing inside, on top of, or outside the wall, guarding it in case anything or any one were to try and escape or come in.
We stood next to each other in a comfortable silence for about 30 minutes, looking at the town. I loved it here. It was so peaceful and serene.
"Well I have to get going" I told Burgundy.
"Oh ok, bye! " he waved and smiled.
"Bye" I said as I started walking away. You know I've always dreamed of having guard duty up on the wall or outside of it, I bet from there you'd even be able to see the other islands! These walls weren't always here you know, they were put up after the war, and will stay here for who knows how long.
I was walking towards my job in the Prismiss office. I helped organize the information for the Prismiss. I wasn't in direct contact with the Prismiss of Red, but I am with the shade a couple steps down from her, Carmine. He's my boss, and he was not a nice person. He was very loud, arrogant, and very snotty. He thought he was better than everyone else because he was oh so close to Red herself.
"Good afternoon" I said to the secretary, who was a cherry red. I was a very shy shade, but I was very good friends with the secretary.
I walked into the back room of the office, and sat down at my desk. I started filing papers and putting them in folders so that the secretary could put them in a filing cabinet. It was just another boring day in my office. Carmine came into the office and slammed the door behind him. He dropped off a packet of pictures and documents onto my desk as he passed it. I opened the clear plastic folder and pulled out about 5 pictures and 8 documents.
The pictures were of the blue island. I saw a Cerulean and a Lapis in the first picture. Their smiling faces full of joy and peace. The next picture had a crumbling stone structure in it. The building looked very old and magnificent. Apparently, it's the Prismiss headquarters. The third picture was an aerial of the city. From this angle, I could see the tops of the buildings below. The fourth picture was the Prismisses of Blue, a primary herself looking into the camera, along with those from the black, and white sub-islands. The last picture was a section of the moat around the island. The sand looked very soft and the sea was calm. I could make out tiny primary blue seashells dotting the baby blue sand. The water didn't extend very far because the huge wall cut it off. If only I could travel.
The documents described what was talked about in the meeting between the Prismisses, and that was of no concern to me, so I filed those away in the "Blue Island" folder and labeled each document with the date.
A couple of hours later, it was about 9:00 pm, and it was time to leave. My eyes were very heavy and I really wanted to go to sleep. I walked out of the office and back to my house at a very slow pace. I changed out of my work clothes and into pajamas. I laid in my bed, pulled the blankets over my legs and torso, and fell into a peaceful sleep.
I dreamed about the blue island. It seemed so calm and carefree there. The people looked so happy. I imagined I was seeing the crumbling building in person, and feeling the soft sand between my toes. If only I could go there.
