haechan and giana always spent their days together trying to remember things about his past life. they spent most of their time just talking and laughing about each other. it was safe to say that they've gotten closer then they were. giana couldn't express how happy she felt when haechan was trusting her more. it was like, starting a whole new chapter over.

the more time giana spent with him, the more she realized that his small habits haven't changed that much. even with this whole concept of him being a completely different person. when he was nervous, he would still stand on his ankles. he still didn't like to eat sour things, and he still easily went deaf. and her favorite habit—when he was shy he had this unique kind of pout, that only lee donghyuck could pull off.

and my lord, his voice was unreal.

his voice sounded like dripping honey. it sounded like two angels just combined into one beautiful vocalbox. his voice sounded like clouds, all shapes and sizes, on a clear blue sky. his voice was the definition of beauty.

and of course, everybody knew that.

as giana and haechan went to school, they were always talked about. whispers of rumored love stories, and sex scandals. they only denied them. they were far too young to be recieving that kind of attention.

and besides, haechan knew that it wasn't the right time. he was only starting to regain his memories. it wasn't right to fall in love with her under these circumstances. he didn't remember her, but he was in love with her. that couldn't simply be right. it would be disrespectful for her, and for himself.

they still continued their separate lives. giana helped her mother out in the fashion business and her father by helping out with the new trainees. haechan worked as a trainee along side his friends and enjoyed every moment of it, even though sometimes he felt as if he was being singled out.

haechan felt weird going to the trainee center. sometimes, he could he feel as if he was always being blamed for something he didn't intend or even do. jisung accidentally spilled lemonade on the new wooden floors? haechan should've cleaned and told jisung not to drink while dancing. mark broke the mirror while walking backwards? haechan should've stopped him. jeno sprained his ankle while on the hoverboard? haechan should've done something.

he didn't know why the managers were trying to single him out. sure, he liked to play around a lot and try to make everyone laugh, but that didn't give them the right to try to get him into trouble. sometimes he felt like there was a higher up that took interest in his playful ways and was punishing him for it. someone like a ceo or something.

as always haechan brushed it off. it wasn't like they hated him for no reason. he already accepted the fact that he was a mischievous boy. he didn't really deserve that kind of special treatment because he had talent. he knew he had to work hard to get where his idols are. and he knew that damn well.

haechan decided to audition for the up coming sm rookies show. he knew that was the kind of thing needed to boost up his career. so he went for it. during his audition, the judges seemed to like his voice, giving him a full 9.5 average points. he thought he did great.

today was the day when the results came back. this wasn't the first and last time he could audition, but it would actually make himself feel like all his efforts paid off.

haechan rushed to the hallway where the results would be. he could see a whole crowd of male trainees. some were sad, crying, distraught, and upset. some were happy and rejoicing with others that probably got in. haechan squeezed through them. he finally found his friends and he smiled brightly at them.

"soooo kids, who got in? did i get in? did i?" haechan's face soon escalated into a face of pure disappointment and pain. he thought he did so well. he sighed as he turned around, ignoring his friends calling out to comfort him.

he wasn't good enough. he knew that now.

☀︎ ☀︎ ☀︎

"DAD! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU! YOU PROMISED ME! YOU PROMISED ME! you told me that if i helped mother with her fashion line, that you would be able to help him get through! not treat him like trash! you should have treated him like everyone else not lower! you should've accepted him dad! he was as good as everybody else that got in! maybe even better! so why are you doing this?!" giana screamed, and practically sent her father's ear drums to the other side of korea.

"LOOK! look giana. your mother does not want to see him. ever. you know that. she does not want to see him in person or on paper. it wouldn't be nice to disrespect your mother, now would it?" giana rolled her eyes. it was always like this. she was forever trapped inside her mother's hand. and her father played as her claws. giana felt a pang of guilt when she realized that her father and her were just two puppets being played by her evil mother.

"i'll go talk to her." giana ignored her father yelling out for her to stop. she didn't want to listen to him. she wanted to do what was right.

"mom! how could you do this? do you really have no shame? you destroyed someone of their dream all because they were the son of someone you didn't like?! gosh! you do this every time! well guess what? it won't work this time. if you ever want to see my face again, then you can send donghyuck into the rookie station."

giana's stern mother finally had a change in facial expression. her face was astonished. she didn't understand why her daughter was so madly in love with someone that didn't even remember her. she couldn't understand why it was so easy for her daughter to love someone with no end when they were from such a criminally inclined family. it was all questions but no answers in mrs kim's head.

"wait! giana. i need to tell you something. it's important. you have to know who donghyuck's father really is."

☀︎ ☀︎ ☀︎

"so you're the reason i didn't get in? giana! you should have told me this before! save me from the high hopes that i actually could have been able to achieve what i've wanted for as long as i can remember! giana how could you do this?"

giana felt a tingle in her spine when he called out her full name. when he was just donghyuck, giana wasn't in his vocabulary. it was always gia. now, she was heartbroken. and ashamed for being herself and for her parent's behavior.

she told herself that she would take baby steps but haechan had to know. he had to know his real father, and why her mother had so desperately tried to keep him away from her family. so, giana spilled. she told him every single detail that night, and why it was so important to them and to their families. it was a start of a new chapter.

of new lives.

it had to stay that way for everybody to be safe. it had to be kept a secret, stashed away, so nobody had get hurt. haechan was the key. he had to be the key. if he hadn't lost his memory...

he would've been dead. including the whole neighborhood that night.

"look donghyuck. i know it's a long shot. but seriously. you have to believe me. i don't know why or how but m-my mother has proof. it's true."

giana looked down, ashamed to be seen by the boy that so dearly trusted her. she didn't want to look him in the eye after she had told him the truth about what happened so long ago.

she was ashamed that her mother thought so poorly of him. she was disgusted at how her family acted. she was so distraught and had no clue what to do, that it frustrated her. her frustration soon turned themselves into full blown tears.

the weather man said would be dripping rain tonight, instead it was a clear star filled sky. giana didn't realize the rain would be from her tears.

she hid her face in her hands. she could hear haechan shuffling around, but she didn't want to see him. she felt too guilty. in a spur of a moment, she felt soft hands tug away her own. as he held both of her hands in one of his own, he took his right hand and lifted her chin up. she shook her head, trying to shrug him off. when she finally did get him off, she turned around.

"god, you're stubborn." haechan whispered, but it was loud enough for giana to hear. she wanted to leave but she couldn't. her feet stayed frozen. what felt like forever, took only ten seconds.

haechan was right behind her. he grabbed her wrist and spun her around. her cheek landed straight into his chest. she couldn't hold herself back as he wrapped his arms tighter around her. she could feel the fast beat of his heart, as her tears fell like a waterfall.

if only, they could stay like this forever.

nothing could possibly go wrong.
