Christmas break is over now, and it is the start to the new year! The new year brings the beginning of senior year of high school. This is the beginning of new things and the start to something amazing!
Marinette gets ready for the day with determination. She decides that she will avoid Adrien at all cost. This will take a lot of strength on her part as she she still has a huge crush on the guy. She head onto to school. She breathes a sigh of relief that she is on time for once. This is rare for her. She sits down in her usual desk. She is glad to see that Stacey is already next to Nino. She figures at least one of us is happy.
Adrien arrives late to school. He is not sure why he slept in so long. He is just glad to see that things are back to normal. He does notice though that when greats everyone, almost all of them give him a reponse back everyone that is except for her! He notices Marinette does not say a word to him. He thinks, it is strange. He shrugs his shoulders as he takes notes for the class.
During lunch break he seeks her out. "Hi, Marinette!" Adrien call out to her when he sees her at the table with Nino and Stacey, with an empty place for just one. He is hurt when she gives no response. He still goes over to the table and sits right next to her. He blushes the entire time. Still Marinette does not say a word, not a single word to him. Not even so much as an Hello!
After school, Adrien sees Marinette at her locker. He walks over to her. "Ready for me to walk you home, pretty lady?" Adrien ask her. He hopes for some kind of answer. He frowns when she does not say anything, but walks away instead. He sighs. He thinks, why? I don't get it, why has she been like this all day? Is it something I did, or said to bother her? He tries to recall to his memory what he could have said or done to make her avoid him. He comes up empty. He can't understand why she is like this.
"Marinette is everything all right with you and Adrien?" Stacey ask. Her eye brow curls up in confusion.
"Yes, everything is just peachy!" Marinette says.
"If everything is as you said, peachy, then why have you avoided him all day?" Stacey says.
"Dudette, Stacey is right, this is not like you!" Nino says.
"Come on girl, talk to him!" Stacey says.
"Look, just leave me alone!" Marinette says. She walks off clearly upset and angry that Nino and Stacey have the nerve to interfere in her life. How dare they do this to me? She heads on home.
Adrien arrives home earlier than usual. He sighs as he enters his room. He thinks, why is Marinette so upset? I don't get it! Does she really hate me so much that she feels a need to ignore me? If that is not it, then I can't help, but wonder why did she avoid me all day? He cries as he feels like someone just took his heart out and stomped on it. He thinks, she might as well as told me to take a hike, get lost, or told me she never wants to talk to her again. I mean it. This is so unlike her. I just don't get it. I thought we got along great, but now she avoids me like I have the plague.
Marinette arrives home rather early as well. She goes to her room and sighs. She thinks, did the whole avoidance of Adrien do any good. She is not sure. She just knows some how she feels bad about the whole ordeal. Why shouldn't she? Adrien is her crush, yet she treats him like she does not care. This is the whole problem, if anything she cares too much for him. She blushes a bright shade of red as she thinks about how hurt he looks when he tries to get her to speak up. She tires to reason within herself this all for the best as their is no way he could return her feelings. Why a guy like that is bound to like anyone else, but her. Right?
