I get a knock at my door, and before I can even think of telling them to come in, the door opens.
In steps the person that immediately ruins my day.
Peirce Merka.
"Hey, beautiful," he says, sauntering in like he owns the place. "Miss me?"
I scowl. "Do you actually expect me to miss you?" I scoff. "You're as dense a I remember."
He smirks. "And you still have that attitude that I love." He walks around the bed and lifts my chin with his finger. Heat seems to build up underneath his touch. "Is there anything I can do to change your mind about me?"
I lift my good arm and grab his wrist. Digging my nails into his skin, I glare at him with the intensity of ten suns.
"If you think," I say slowly. "That what you did is forgivable, you are far from right." I release his wrist. "If you are not out of my sight in the next ten seconds, I will call the nurse to tell her that you have disconnected my painkiller supply."
He starts walking away, but stops in the doorway. "This won't be the last you'll be seeing me here."
And then he's gone.
