Once upon a time, in a small town on the coast of Prince Edward Island was a hill at the edge of the ocean. The name of this town was St. Springs and life here was easy, simple, and fun, children having the time of their lives playing with their friends and adults talking about how good it was to be alive. The town was absolutely wonderful, it was simple, elegant, and lovely with all of its fancy victorian houses and shops. There were parks that could open even an old, grumpy man's imagination and fields that went on as far as the eye could see.
There were three little pigs, two brothers and one sister. Having just finished High School they were now all out on their own, but they still ran back to Mom if one was in need of a little help. They were the best of friends always having supper together at one of the siblings houses. But their houses were not the traditional style you would find anywhere else in St. Springs.
Rupert the youngest of the three, his house looked exactly like a block of cheese. There were circular windows everywhere you looked, little cheese decorations in every corner of the garden, the house itself was the colour of a block of muenster cheese, and he even had an orange cat named Puss'n Cheese. Barbe, the middle child, her house looked like a fruit salad that would sit at the table of a giant. Her garden had every fruit from bananas to kumquats, the house was green with blue dots all over to look like blueberries, a large fountain that had plastic fruits glued to it was sitting in the center of the garden, and the chimney that looked like a giant cherry had the smoke coming out of the stem. And lastly Curt, the eldest of the three, his house looked like a giant vegetable garden. Almost the entire property was garden, there was a section for every single vegetable that you could think of, there was a small building that was home to a kitchen that any chef could ever want, and a small hut with a bed with a vegetable bedding, a small bathroom, and a simple but beautiful wooden dining table.
On the edge of the town there was a tall, lean, hairy, long eared, wolf that had the most charming British accent you could ever imagine, his name was Todd. He unlike the three little pigs had an amazing little victorian house that sat on a small cliff at the edge of the sea. And this wolf was no normal wolf, he had a... very different appetite then you would normally find. Todd was a very polite young gentlemen, with an shocking smille, and he had a wit anyone would be proud of.
And now at half an hour to noon Todd angry with himself marched out of his beautiful house and up the road muttering, "Oh how could I have forgotten, I was at the grocery store just yesterday! I even double, triple check my list!" And with that the wolf stormed up the road to the to the nearest house.
The nearest house ended up to be a block of cheese, Todd had never met the person that lived in this house, for he had just moved in. But Todd also had the slightest suspicion that the owner of this house wouldn't really enjoy his company. But nevertheless he knocked on the door, straitened his posture, and put on the friendliest smile he could muster. And just as Rupert opened the door he said.
"Hello, I'm sorry we have never met before, bu-" but Todd never got the chance to finish his sentence for the pig had jumped as soon as he saw Todd and ran past the wolf with surprising seed, up the hill and out of sight. And already angry with himself for forgetting that one very important ingredient, Todd added this to his anger as he marched on up the road the the next house.
This house looked like a giant fruit salad there was no other way to describe it. And once again Todd had never met the owner of this house before either. They had just moved in and Todd had the slightest suspicion that the owner of this house wouldn't really enjoy his company. But nevertheless he knocked on the door, straitened his posture, and put on the friendliest smile he could muster. And just as Barbe opened the door he said.
"Hello, I'm sorry we have never met before, bu-" but once again, Todd never got the chance to finish his sentence for the pig had jumped as soon as she saw Todd and ran past the wolf with surprising seed, up the hill and out of sight. Todd, still angry with the fact that he forgot that very special ingredient, and with the first pig that wouldn't even let him finish his sentence, and now this pig that did the exact same thing, Todd's temper was reaching a boiling point.
There was still one more house two more houses on the hill, and hoping beyond hope Todd walked up to another strange house. This house looks just like a salad. Again Todd had never met the owner of this house before either. For they had just moved in. And once again, Todd had the slightest suspicion that the owner of this house wouldn't really enjoy his company. But nevertheless he knocked on the door, straitened his posture, and put on the friendliest smile he could muster. And just as Curt opened the door he said.
"Hello, I'm sorry we have never met before, bu-" but Todd never got the chance to finish his sentence for the pig had jumped as soon as he saw Todd and ran past the wolf with surprising seed, up the hill and out of sight. Todd couldn't believe it, first he forgot that one very important ingredient, then when he goes to ask if he can have one, he can't even get the words out of his mouth before those three little pigs sprinted right past him and up the hill. How could anyone be so insulting, ignorant, rude, and all together just low. He understood that pigs and wolves didn't have the best relationship, but to act like that, to not let him explain himself, to be such a bad neighbour, was just evil. And to think that he, wolves were stereotypically the evil kind, when these pigs were the ones acting like animals! So with his temper millimeters away from exploding he tramped on up to the small victorian house sitting on the very top of the hill.
This house was not like those other outrageous homes he had stopped at, this one was a simple light yellow home, a rocking chair sat on the large porch, two bay windows, and a small turret on the left corner of the lovely little home. The view almost calmed Todd's nerves but then he remembered Rupert, Barbe, and Curt's pathetic little houses and his anger shot right back up so that his face burned bright scarlet.
And as Todd pounded the pavement with every step, he walked up the small stone path to the front door. But seconds before Todd could knock his trembling fist on the door, an older, short, wrinkly, plump, pig wearing a frilly apron opened the door and slaped Todd hard across the face with her funny little pig foot.
"GET AWAY FROM MY PRECIOUS LITTLE CHILDREN!" she yelled so loudly people on the other side of the universe could hear her, "HOW DARE YOU TRY AND DIG YOUR TEETH INTO THEIR SOFT PINK SKIN, HOW DARE YOU TRY AND RIP APART MY FAMILY, THE WAY YOURS TRIED TO DO SO MANY OTHER PIG FAMILIES! HOW DARE YOU WALK UP TO OUR HOMES BEARING YOUR TEETH, SO PLEASED WITH THE MURDER YOU WERE ABOUT TO COMMIT, HOW DARE YOU!" by this point Todd could see people poking all their different noses out to see what all this unnecessary commotion was about, "SO IF YOU HAVE A SHRED OF A BRAIN IN THAT HEAD OF YOURS YOU WILL LEAVE MY HOUSE BEFORE I DO SOMETHING I WON'T EVER REGRET! With those last few word Todd could feel quite a considerable amount of spit starting to soak into the dark grey hair on his face.
Todd couldn't help it, he felt betrayed, accused, judged, scorned, angry, sad and to top it all off THE SPIT THAT WAS SOAKING INTO HUS FUR! But no Todd was not going to yell, scream, show any emotion he was feeling, say the words he was dying to say, no he was a smart, good wolf who was not just about to let his anger get the best of him he would not let's say TRY AND DIG YOUR TEETH INTO THEIR SOFT PINK SKIN!
" Well I'm sorry to tell you ma'am but I don't eat pigs nor have I ever planned to commit a murder, I'm not trying to rip your family apart, I was smiling not bearing my teeth, and unlike what you assumed I am a vegan, have been since birth, just like the rest of my family." as Todd said this he had a very business like town about him and a very straight face, "Oh and what was the last one, oh yes, I don't mean to brag but I like to say that having a Bachelor of Mathematics degree means that I have at least a quarter of a brain." He ended his speech with a small smirk, but before the three little pigs mother had a chance to speak he continued again. "Now if this family would like to finally put a foot in the right direction they will listen to me!" And for the fourth and final time, he straightened his posture, and put on the friendliest smile he could muster and said,
"Hello, my name is Todd and I am a wolf, it is a wonderful pleasure to finally meet you and I'm sorry that it is on this occasion that we finally get to introduce ourselves, but I was preparing a salad for lunch when I remembered that I forgot to buy tomatoes when I was at the store just the other day, and I was wondering if I could have one. And of course you may come over for lunch and we can enjoy my salad together as neighbours." What Todd had said was polite, but he knew that the four pigs were feeling ashamed of themselves, which they definitely deserved.
"Hello Todd, my name is Charlotte, and these are my three beautiful children, Rupert, Barbe, and Curt," as their names were called they each shake Todd's hand, "And we are deeply sorry for being so quick to judge you, it was certainly not the right thing to do. And we would be honored to give you as many tomatoes as you want."
And she turned swiftly around to go fetch the tomatoes. It was an awkward moment between Todd and the Three Little Pigs, but he smiled at them as they started nervously at him. And soon enough Charlotte had returned with a sack full of juicy, red tomatoes.
"Thank you so very much, oh, but a simple 'Thank you' is never really enough so how about you come down to my house and we can eat lunch together as neighbors." Now that he was not being yelled at, Todd felt very calm and happy towards the pig family standing in front of him.
"Oh no we wouldn't want to intrude."
"No, no, don't be silly it would make my day if you would come and join me for lunch."
And with that the five of them walked down the road to the small house sitting on the small cliff. Todd finished the salad in less than three little minutes and they joined in the garden to eat. He could tell Barbe wasn't too happy with the salad, but he was pleased nonetheless. For he had gained four new wonderful friends and it wasn't even twelve o'clock noon yet.
