Danny woke up in Mac's hold, their bare skin pressed against each other. The taller girl's phone was ringing over and over again.
"Hello, it's Danny."
"Hi Danny, is Mackenzie there?"
"Yeah she's asleep."
"Lazy ass it's already noon."
"She's been exhausted, helping us out and all."
Danny looked over at Mac's bare back.
"Could you wake her up I'm getting on a plane and won't be able to talk for a few hours."
"Yeah."
Danny sat the phone down before placing kisses on the girl's shoulder blade.
"Baby, wake up."
With her eyes still closed and a smirk on her face she stretched her arms.
"I would have thought you'd be tired out from last night."
Mac flipped on to her back before fully opening her eyes.
"Knocked it off, your mom is on the phone."
Danny gave her the phone before laying back down beside her.
"Yeah?"
"Mackenzie were you having sex!"
"For sure, I couldn't answer my own phone because my fingers-"
Danny smacked the girl's shoulder making her laugh.
"Stop being gross!"
"Oh come on, babe, I'll give her a detailed summary of last night and early this morning."
Danny raised an eyebrow with a 'try me' attitude.
"Keep your sex life to yourself. How are you doing?"
"I'm good, really good."
Mac looked over at Danny who ran her hand up and down the sheet.
"Alright I'll let you two continue I just wanted to call and say I love you."
"I love you, mom. Be careful on your flight."
Danny pulled on her clothes before slipping Mac's sweatshirt on.
"Babe we need to get back to the hospital."
"What's wrong?"
"Momma woke up realizing we're missing and mom can't calm her down."
Danny ran through the hospital leaving Mac in her dust. They could hear Tanner yelling from her hospital room.
"WHERE IS MY LITTLE GIRL! WHERE'S OUR BABY?"
Tanner met her at the door, her chest heaving as Autumn tried to get her back in bed.
"I'm here, Momma, I'm here. I was asleep, Mac was keeping me safe."
The shaky arms wrapped around her oldest daughter as she kissed her forehead.
"I pan-iiiicked. I-I-I thou-ght hh-e too-ok you."
"Momma you need to breathe. It's okay. We're okay. Calm down, okay? Breathe."
Danny just held Tanner up until her breathing evened out.
"Let's sit down."
Tanner's grip on the younger girl didn't loosen as they sat down next to each other. Danny ran her fingers across Tanner's knuckles as she tried to calm her down.
"Momma I'm okay."
The tattooed girl rested her head on her daughter shoulder.
"I just love you so much, kid."
"I love you, too."
Mac had gotten Autumn to go to the cafeteria for lunch, leaving Danny to handle Tanner.
"Lay back, Momma, you need to rest."
The girl pulled back the blankets before helping Tanner pull her legs under the covers.
"Lay with me, I'm not ready for you to leave."
"I'll turn off the lights."
Tanner pulled her daughter closer not ready to let go.
"I'm sorry I let him touch you."
The tattooed girl had tears rolling down her cheeks.
"It's okay, Momma, it's not your fault."
"I should of shot him."
"Look at me. You did everything that you had to, okay? If you would have shot him you'd be in prison and I don't want to lose you. All of your med are making you emotional. Just close your eyes."
Danny held the tattooed adult trying to keep her calm.
"I got you, Momma."
Her fingers ran through the short hair, as Tanner tried to find security in her daughter's presence.
