Even though Edgar Bones returned the next day, with Leo Fawley's address, Sara did not go and meet her father for several weeks.
It was the start of the new year, and Lily and Alice had just revealed that they were expecting. Meaning that there would be two new babies in Sara's life.
Sara was happy for her friends, but she was also sad, and rather jealous, at the same time. Since she wanted the happy life that they had.
This news prompted Sara to find out more about her own family, by meeting her father.
She wanted to do it on her own, which is why she didn't tell Remus, or the other Marauders, where she was going.
Once she had Apparated to the correct place, Sara stood nervously outside Leo's house for several minutes. Before she felt brave enough to approach the front door.
The manor was as remote as Mary's house, but at least 10 times the size, making it rather frightening to look at.
Sara took a deep breath, and knocked on the front door, which was opened a few moments later by a twitchy little House-Elf.
"How may I help you Miss?" Asked the elf, that Sara recognised as female.
"I'm here to see Leo Fawley" announced Sara, trying to sound braver than she felt.
"And what business do you have with my Master?".
"I need to speak with him. I have some questions that I need him to answer" admitted Sara.
"And you are?" Questioned the elf.
"Sara. Sara Burne"
"Wait here then Miss Sara, while I talk to the Master".
Sara was only left waiting for a few moments, as the House-Elf came running back to the door very quickly, looking rather flustered.
"Master will see you in the Drawing room" panted the elf.
Sara nodded her head, stepped inside the Manor, and began following the House-Elf through the building.
After they had passed several rooms, the elf gestured towards a door that was half open, and Sara entered the room, opening the door fully, as she stepped inside.
A middle aged man, with tidy brown hair, who was sat in an old arm chair, stood up as Sara approached.
"That'll be all Flea" he said.
The House-Elf named Flea, bowed her head, and ran out of sight.
"You named your House-Elf Flea?" Questioning Sara, wrinkling her nose at the cruelty in naming the creature after a disgusting insect.
Leo seemed not to have heard, as he made to attempt to answer Sara's question.
"It's true then... When Flea told me your name, I couldn't quite believe it. But here you are... You look just as beautiful as your mother" he mumbled.
Sara frowned, as Leo had ignored her question. She had also never been told that she looked like her mother before. As Natasha had been a dragon for most of Sara's life, so not many people actually knew what she looked like, in human form.
"So you're Leo Fawley?" Questioned Sara.
Leo blinked several times, and took a step back, as if exiting a trance.
"Yes. I am" he answered.
Sara began to observe the man in front of her, and tried to see if she could see any of herself, in him. She had hoped that Edgar's information was false, but even she couldn't deny the similarities between her, and Leo.
"I know what you're thinking" sighed Leo.
"And what's that?" Asked Sara.
"You want to know why I left your mother"
"Well, I have many questions. But I admit that that's one of them"
"Then why don't you have a seat. And I will try and answer you as best I can".
Leo sat back down, and gestured to the seat beside him.
Sara didn't really want to join the man, but eventually she relented and sat down in the armchair.
"I don't know what your mother has told you about me-" started Leo.
"Not much. She told me you left her, when you found out what she was" replied Sara coldly.
"I see"
"Well, is it true?"
"Not exactly"
"Did my mother lie to me then? Are you going to try and convince me that you didn't leave her, because she was a Maledictus?"
"I did leave her because of it, I admit. But it's not how you think-".
Sara didn't let Leo finish, as she had already risen to her feet, and decided to leave.
"Please don't go" begged Leo.
"Why should I stay? You hated her because of her blood curse. And since I have the same thing, I expect you hate me too. So what possible reason would I have, for staying" spat Sara.
"I never hated your mother. I loved her" revealed Leo.
"Then why did you leave her?" Demanded Sara.
"I left her, because she wanted me too...
Nat knew that I was the last person with my family name, and she wanted me to carry on my line. I didn't care about that, but she didn't want my family name to become extinct, because of her.
She didn't want to have children, and pass her blood curse on, and I didn't want her to either. I saw how much she suffered with her illness, and I didn't want to put anyone else through that...
We argued about the future, all the time. I told her I would never love another woman. But she wanted me to be happy with a family, that she could never provide.
In the end, with pressure from her, and my own parents, who wanted me to continue the line, I left her".
Sara sat back down slowly, in her seat, as she let Leo's words sink in.
She didn't want to believe what he had said, as that meant her mother had lied to her. But she thought back to her own conversations with Remus, about having a family, and the lengths she had gone to, to stop herself form having a child, that was like her.
"If you and your parents cared so much about continuing the family name, then why don't you have a wife, and children?" Questioned Sara.
"Because I can't have children. Not any more... Not long after I left your mother, I contracted a disease, that left me infertile. So my family name will die with me and you... When I found out I couldn't have children, I wanted to go back to your mother. Since there would be nothing stopping us from being together, any more" revealed Leo.
"Then why didn't you?" Asked Sara.
"I was worried that she would still be upset with me. And by the time I worked up the courage to talk to her, I heard from someone at the Ministry, that she had become stuck as a dragon. So I knew that I had missed my chance, and I would never be able to see her again, to apologise" explained Leo.
"So when you found out about me and my mum, you just decided to leave me there, and never come to see me"
"No. I swear on my life, that I never knew about you. I didn't know that you existed, until Flea came in to tell me that you were at the door, a few minutes ago. If I had known about you, of course I would have come to find you. But she never told me when she got pregnant. So how was I supposed to know that you existed... Actually, how did you find out about me?"
"It's a long story. And one that a Ministry employee, like yourself, probably shouldn't know".
"I see... You said that you have the same condition as your mother?" Quizzed Leo.
"Of course I do. All the females in my family, will be a Maledictus, that can turn into a dragon... One day I will become stuck, just like my mother, and forget who I am" admitted Sara.
"Your mother, is she- Is she alive?"
"As far as I know"
"You aren't sure?"
"No. The Ministry took her away, before my 7th year at Hogwarts, and locked her up in some dragon sanctuary, up in Scotland... I haven't seen her since"
"You went to Hogwarts?"
"Yes I did. And I'm a Gryffindor, before you ask".
"Well, that is the family house" revealed Leo.
"It is?" Questioned Sara.
"Yes. My family is a bit more Pure-Blood obssessed, than most Gryffindor's, but none of us have been put in Slytherin, for the past 100 years"
"Well that's a relief"
"Is it?"
"Yes. I was worried that you were going to be a Slytherin, or even worse... a Death Eater"
"You don't need to worry, I'm not either of those things"
"You've still got a House-Elf though. Which you named Flea"
"I didn't name her, my parents did. And all of our House-Elves have similar names to that. It's a tradition. Besides, a lot of wizarding families have House-Elves. And I do treat her quite well, compared to some families".
"If you say so... So, if you don't have any siblings, or other children, then does that mean, that I am your only living descendent? Your only heir?" Questioned Sara.
"Yes. A bastard. But a child of mine, none-the-less" answered Leo.
"This is a lot to process"
"Yes, I expect it is. And despite taking your mothers name, you will be the last living Fawley, in history. As I assume you don't intend on having any children of your own"
"No, I don't want to inflict my curse, onto anyone else. So I will not be having kids".
Sara didn't want to lie to Leo, but she had decided to keep John a secret. As she wasn't sure how Leo would react, if she told him she had a son.
She wanted to trust Leo, but if he knew he had a descendent, who could pass on the family name, he might try and worm his way into John's life.
Since Sara had also given John up, she didn't want Leo to know what she had done, as she couldn't risk him telling anyone else, the truth about John.
This was because she wanted John to continue living with Mary, and she didn't want anyone to change the plans she had made for her son. Not even her own father.
