"Should we go now?" Nash asked, holding his palm up to his face, forehead wrinkled as he examined the rock in his hand. We were wallowing on the shore, sun bathing after we finished our lunch. The air between us had somehow shifted. After we kissed, it seemed so different between us. We had been flirty but now it was full on feelings I felt for him. I couldn't see him as just some cute guy that I flirted with. His image in my mind completely changed.

I could no longer categorize him into the crush section along with Sam and that cute guy from my study hall. I mean, Sam wasn't just a crush but I had been realistic in thinking that we could never be anything more than friends so I placed him in a box: a box of guys I liked but knew I'd never have anything with. As much as I loved Sam, I could never allow myself to believe I ever had a chance. The same was said for Nash and any other guy who I liked. I always had such low confidence that I wouldn't believe a guy would ever like me back.

But that kiss... It sort of changed everything. Nash had initiated the kiss which meant he wanted to kiss me. For once I could believe that a guy liked me back because I didn't make the first move, Nash did. I was still in shock, as I glanced over at him. He was sitting, leaned back on his arms, elbows digging into the sand under his weight. His hair was wet and clung to his forehead. I reached up and ran my fingers through it, ruffling it before I pulled my hand away, looking up and admiring my work. His hair was now strewn about his head in a floppy mess.

He looked over at me, a cocky grin held by his full lips. His tongue darted out to wet them and I looked away, not wanting to be caught staring at them for too long. "Is that a yes or no?" he asked, nudging me with his shoulder. "Whenever you want to go." I mumbled, drawing a flower in the sand between us. His hand covered mine, squeezing softly. "Do you regret it?" He whispered, thumb running over the back of my hand.

"Regret what?" I asked, looking up at him. "The kiss." He said quietly. I didn't know why he thought I would ever regret it. I had assumed he'd be the one to regret kissing me, not the other way around. I couldn't exactly pinpoint the reason, but Nash always seemed unsure about his actions. "Why would I regret kissing you?" I asked, shifting so I could lean against him. I scooted until my thigh was against his and I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"I don't know, It's just that I know it was your first and... I know girls like it to be special." He spoke nervously, shrugging slightly as he ran his fingers through his hair. He was always doing that. "It was special. I wouldn't take it back." I admitted, "If anything, I'd do it again." I flashed a flirty grin at him, hoping he'd get the idea and kiss me again.

Where is all this confidence coming from?

He leaned in, humming when his face was right in front of mine. His eyes fluttered shut and so did mine. I could feel his lips bush over mine, the heat radiating off of them, but he wouldn't kiss me, not properly. I tilted my face up a little more, making it a less awkward position with him leaning down so much. He picked his hand up and cupped my chin pulling my face towards him, making our lips smash together. His lips puckered slightly before he pulled away, giving me nothing but a light peck. I opened my eyes and was greeted by a cheeky grin.

"You think you're funny don't you." I breathed, lips tingling because his face was still so close and I could feel his breath on them.

"Yup." He said, moving his hand to place it on my waist. His fingers purposefully brushed my exposed stomach and I shuddered. That's when I heard them. They were having a loud conversation, laughter echoing around as they reached the end of the trail that lead to the clearing of the lake. I imagined how we looked. His face so close that I could feel his breath, his hand on my waist, mine on his bicep. Him leaning over me so that he could support me in his embrace.

I would have moved away from Nash, but I didn't have to take Sam's feelings into consideration anymore. He definitely hadn't thought of mine. I felt free, free to do what I wanted. I didn't have to think of what anyone else would think. It was finally all about me, about what I wanted. And at that moment I wanted Nash to kiss me. I wanted him to kiss me so hard my lips were numb and I was out of breath. I wanted Sam to see, and I wanted him to hurt. I wanted him to know how it felt every time he had kissed Sarah knowing I was watching, every time he plucked at another one of my heart strings because he thought it was funny.

I reached up, tangling my hands in Nash's hair, pulling his mouth that little centimeter left until his lips were molded against mine. I moved my lips forcefully and it only took him a second to reciprocate my actions. His hand moved from my waist and came around my back, pulling my chest to his. I opened my mouth a little and he licked into it, once again I enjoyed the way his tongue felt against mine. I sucked on his bottom lip and he gasped just before I pulled away, drawing his lip with mine a little before letting it snap back. That kiss was short but it was... it was sexy. I continued staring into his eyes as they walked closer, probably realizing what they had just witnessed.

The shore was only a couple meters away from the trails ending so I knew they had probably seen all of that. I didn't exactly know everyone that was there but I knew for a fact Sam was. I'd heard his laugh. Nash's back was to them but I was sideways, facing Nash. I looked over his shoulder to see Sam, Johnson, and Aaliyah standing beside one of the picnic tables and staring at us, jaws on the floor.

"Were we interrupting something?" Aaliyah asked, a wide grin spreading from cheek to cheek. Nash turned and looked at them, then back at me. "We obviously were." I heard Sam mutter. I didn't want him to think I'd done this out of spite, even though that was half true. I wanted him to realize that I could like other people, I could like Nash regardless of how he felt about it. "Not at all. We're actually going back to the cabin right now." I smiled warmly at them as Nash grabbed my hand and we stood, he didn't let go after and I followed him as we brushed past them to get our stuff from the table. I let go of Nash so he could pack up the basket.

Johnson began asking Nash about the lake and how warm the water was. They sort of ventured off into their own conversation as Nash continued folding our clothes and stuffing them in.

"Where's Matt?" I asked Aaliyah. It would have been too awkward if I just stood and said nothing. She rolled her eyes, "Setting up the campfire for tonight. He always goes overboard with shit like this but it's his birthday so I guess I'll have to let him." She huffed, folding her arms across her chest. I had forgotten that Matt wanted us all to hang out tonight. That was the point of this whole trip, for us to all chill out and be a family on Matt's birthday. I felt a pang of guilt, realizing Sam and I had probably ruined that. I made a mental note to apologize to him later for that.

"Ok, what time does he want to start that at?"

"Around 7:00 so it's dark." Aaliyah said. I nodded, turning to Nash to make sure he had heard her as well. He was still rambling with Jack so I'd have to tell him later. "We will be there." I smiled at her, giving her a side hug before turning back to Nash just as he finished. He had made sure to leave a towel out for me. "Here." He grinned, unfolding it and wrapping it around my shoulders, hugging me for just a second over it before he let his arms fall back to his sides. I reached out for his hand and he took my hand in his instantly, bringing my hand up and kissing it softly. "You're already cold." He observed, letting our hands fall back in between us. "That just means we'll have to cuddle later." He beamed. I giggled at his goofy smile, "You and your fucking cuddling." I rolled my eyes at him, pursing my lips.

"Hey! I fucks with that cuddling shit heavy too." Johnson said, defending Nash. "Whatever Jack." Aaliyah broke out in a fit of laughter as Johnson opened his arms and stalked towards her, "Come on, Matt won't care. Me and him cuddle too." He said cheekily as he walked towards her and hugged her. She remained stiff as he wiggled his head like a kitten.

"You're so weird." She laughed, pushing him away. "Please! Do you know who you're dating." He replied sassily. I giggled and Nash squeezed my hand, reminding me we needed to go.

"Okay. Okay." I sighed, leaning my head against his chest. I caught a glimpse of Sam. He'd been watching us intently this whole time. I turned back to Nash's chest pressing a kiss to the bare skin before looking up at him. He grinned down at me, shaking his head. "Just can't get enough, huh." He winked. I stifled a giggle, covering my mouth with my hand. Sam scoffed behind me and I remembered we weren't alone.

"Y'all are so cute." Aaliyah cooed, holding a hand to her chest. Johnson was just about to say something but I caught Sam give him a warning glance. "Thank you. We try." Nash flashed another one of his goofy smiles to Aaliyah and she chuckled.

"Well, I guess we'll see you guys later." I said goodbye, Nash grabbing the basket off the table before we started for the trail. It would be a little cold walking back in only my bathing suit but I could just take a warm shower when I got back and then cuddle Nash to make up for it.

"I fucking hope not." I heard Sam mutter as we walked away.
