The sound of glass breaking snapped Jong Kook back to his right mind.
He looks down at the floor.
Ji Hyo threw a glass bowl to the floor and now its shattered pieces are scattered.
He feels a instantly guilty. It seems like his wake up call.
It is like staring at the shattered pieces of Ji Hyo's heart.
But what alarms him is her bare feet, and he knows she’ll be stepping on broken glass if she’ll move a mere step.
His gaze travels from her pale feet up to her fiery gaze, her expression angry and…pained.
“Don’t move!” he warns, his anger now clouded with worry.
She lets out a heavy sigh, her body trembling at the small relief of the pain it is currently keeping in.
“Now you’re afraid?” she asks, a tear rolling down her left cheek.
The mere sight of it made Jong Kook's insides do a somersault.
He realized he screwed up. Big time.
“Those words you’d just said hurts a thousand more than these broken glass!” She informs him, kicking some of it with her foot.
Watching it feels like he is getting glass cuts on his own two feet.
"Yah! I said don’t move!” he snaps and draws towards her.
“Don’t come near me!” she exclaims, almost hysterically, making Jong Kook halt.
But she steps backwards to widen the space between them, earning another bunch of broken glass on her feet.
It is so hard for Jong Kook to fight the urge to draw near her and lift her off those glass shards.
He stares at her, her eyes full of hurt and her face now wet with tears, making him restrain himself.
“Do you really think I like doing all of those?! I’m constantly standing on dangerous ground, with my feet surrounded with shattered pieces of sharp glass! AND IT’S NOT JUST LITERALLY!” she shouts at the top of her lungs.
“I get it! JUST STOP MOVING!” he yells angrily and finally grabs her by the arms.
But she pushes him away with all of her strength and, unable to bear the pain anymore, runs towards the door and leaves the house.
“YAH SONG JI HYO!” he yells, trying to stop her.
But she doesn’t listen and exits the unit, slamming the door behind her, leaving him in the apartment with a deafening silence that makes his self hate go worst.
Red stains of blood marks the floor with Ji Hyo's footsteps.
Then it sinks in.
He hurt Ji Hyo.
He did the last thing he wants to do in the world, he made her cry.
Remembering the tears streaming down her face, his chest gets filled with self-hate and guilt and pain that he sweeps his hands through the countertop angrily, sending a couple of wine glasses and a vase shattering to the floor.
Then he heaves the pain off his chest, throwing himself to the couch.
He wants to make sure she’s okay.
He has to make sure that her feet is treated.
He has to make sure that she’s not crying anymore.
How could everything in his life be falling down all at once?
He is trying but failing to catch all of them. It is as if all of them had slipped through his fingers and now he's left crying of glass cuts from trying to pick up its broken shards.
He runs a hand through his hair and down his face as he sighs deeply again, irritation burning inside his chest as he plants his elbows against his knees and stares at the empty apartment.
His chest hurts so badly but no tears would come out of his eyes, making the pain just dwell inside and a thousand times more painfully.
