Well.. That was the reason why I moved out of the city. I needed a fresh start. I needed to get away from all the memories. Everywhere that I went to reminded me of.... him. I sighed as I pulled up to the small gas station, resting my head on the steering wheel. I have decided to move a small town. In the middle of nowhere. Bark's Bay. Population you may ask? 235. It's not even close to an ocean. It's a nice town, from some of the pictures I have seen.
I unbuckled myself from the seat and opened the car door, stepping out before slamming it shut. I debated on locking it but decided against it and moved to the entrance of the station. Kinda creepy if you ask me, but whatever. I pushed the door open, ringing the bell that hung above it. There wasn't the many people in here. Three or four to most. I cringed as the people turned to look at me. I hated being a center of attention. I flashed a small smile before moving to the back of store, grabbing a bottle of water and a box of chewy granola bars.. I walked to the contour and placed them on it. The old woman looked up at me with a smile. I smiled back before shifting to one foot to the other and she began to ring up the two items.
"Thank you, Ma'am." I said.
"You're welcome, darlin." I went to turn around but I stopped.
"Ma'am, do you know where Bark's Bay would be located?" I asked. She looked at me and then turned to the old man next to her.
"Bark's Bay? Why-" She said.
"It's a mile down the road from here. There's a sharp curve though so be careful when you round it. You'll come to a fork in the road after, you'll want to go right." A deep voice said from behind me. I frowned before looking behind me. A man, a few years older than I, stood with his arms crossed against his broad chest. His brown haircut a little short, longer than mine. He was fucking huge. At least 6'1" with bulging muscles. I nodded slowly before clearing my throat softly.
"Thank you...?" I asked softly.
"Daniel." He said gently, grinning softly. I nodded slowly before grabbing my bag, smiling softly as the old lady before heading out. I heard footsteps from behind me. I glanced behind me to see Daniel. "So are you new here?" He asked. I nodded as I went back to my red honda, opening the door. "Thought so. Bark's Bay doesn't get that many visitors." He hummed, leaning against my car. I raised my eyebrow at his friendliness.
"I had to move." I stated, a frown working its way to my lips. Daniel nodded before looking up at the sky.
"I'm sorry about that but glad you picked this place." He said before someone called his name. I watched as a hand waved at him from a window in a large black truck. "Aw shit, I better get going," He said and started walking off before turning back to me. "This town is pretty friendly so except a lotta people comin by, us included. You know, us country folk." He laughed before yelling back to the people in the truck, running to them.
I let out a frustrated groan before slipping into my car, starting it up. I pulled out of the parking lot, noticing that he was still at the store before rolling my eyes. I continued to drive until I came to the fork in the road. He had said turn right and so I did. I drove more, pressing on the gas a little, until I stopped at a red light. I grabbed my phone, checking the message from my real estate agent, Emily. Great now she changed the meeting place again. Steve's cafe. 6th street. Okay... I drove around small town until I came to a small building called Steve's cafe, which wasn't hard to find. I pulled into the driveway and got out, walking in, the little bell ringing. I saw my realtor waving me over and sat down at a table.
"Ready to see the house?" She asked. I nodded and we both got up, me getting into my car and her in hers. She pulled out first and I followed her before turning to a dirt road. She pulled to a stop in front of a large white plantation house with a wrap around porch around it, a dark blue roof and many windows. I opened my door and got out, walking over to her actually looking at her. Her hair was cut in a cute bob, her skin nice and scar less, unlike mine which had a scar on my forehead from.. I shook my head before looking at the house.
"It's nice." I said and looked around. "How much land?" She looked at me and smiled softly.
"The property comes with 300 acres." She replied and tucked a piece of her behind her ear. 300 acres? What am I going to do with all that? I thought before nodding. She cleared her throat before looking around. "Our town has a restriction on hunting so we ask you not to unless it's on your land. Wolf hunting is also forbidden. Most of them won't attack you so you should be fine." She explained. "If you have any questions, fill free to ask or text me." I nodded slowly before looking at the large house again. "Sometimes the power goes out but the old owner had an extra power box installed inside the kitchen in the coat closet for emergencies so you should be fine. The warm water starts off cold for about 10 minutes so let it run... Um... That's all I can think of. Oh! There's a small cabin just down the road that's also yours. Most of the property is behind your house ands ends at a lake, the old owner decided to build a getaway cabin right by the lake. Your closest neighbors are the Saunders. Cross the lake is the Saunders' property but they shouldn't bug you too much. They'll probably come over to introduce themselves." I nodded again, fighting the urge to roll my eyes before she reached into her pocket, pulling out a large key ring with multiple keys on it and handed it to me.
"Enjoy your new home!!" She said happily as she ran hurriedly to her car and drove off leaving me shocked. I walked up the porch and to the door before I unlocked the door and propped it open with an old flower pot. I went back to my car and opened the tunk, grabbing a box. I carried it to living room, placing the box down and sighed.
I carried three more heavy boxes in before looking around in the house. I picked this house because it was move in ready but I didn't expect it to be so... welcoming? I brushed the white sheet over a large chair before pulling it off. I folded it and moved to the couch, pulling off the sheets, one after another until all the creepy white sheets were bawled up in the corner for now. I looked around for the light switch before finding it huddled between two window frames by the door. I flicked it on and closed my eyes as the room brightened. I sighed and actually took in the room.
The cream colored walls looked as if they had been freshly painted, a lighter trim surrounding everything. The large windows allow natural light to stream in and it honestly felt relaxing. There was a little door that almost blended in, under the white L shaped staircase that probably lead to the basement, I shivered. I sigh softly before moving to the kitchen, flicking the light on.
It was a decent kitchen. Marble counter tops with white cabinets. A double stove and then a 5 eyed oven with a sleek and shiny silver hood above it. The large island had a marble sink, matching the counter tops. The light oak flooring went throughout the entire house from what I could see. A little kitchen nook in the corner of the room was surrounding by windows with soft gray curtains. A pantry to the left with a barn door. Everything was updated and sleek. Just my style. I moved to the coat closet and opened it- Yep. There was the extra power box. I closed the door before moving to the powder room, turning the light on. It was cute. A little sink and toilet with matching handles. The walls were a cream color with white trim. Just like the kitchen and living room.
I moved around again, going to the dining room. This time it was a little darker white- almost a light gray- with the same mahogany floors. A large dining table filled the room with at least 12 seats at it. Not gonna fill that up. I thought as I left the room. I moved to the next room. This time, this room was brighter than most. Every wall had windows with white curtains flowing softly. A sliding glass door to the side, leading to a pathway that went into the woods. This was my favorite room already. I sighed before looking at the one wall that was completely mahogany. I smiled before turning my back and moving up stairs.
A double door in a deep mahogany with gold handles were down the hall. There were 4 other bedrooms, all pretty much the same with white trim and cream walls, a large queen bed with mahogany bed frames with two windows facing out to the forest or the front of the house. Each room had its own full bath, all the same, with a tub and shower and gray and white marble tiles and a vanity to match.
I moved out of the last open before opening a small door, leading to the attic before slamming it shut. Nope. Not gonna happen. An office was to the right of the double doors. This was different from the others though. It was a little more darker, with deep mahogany open shelves, deep- mahogany floors and a mahogany desk with a large black leather office chair, large windows behind the desk, matching leather couches surrounded a black coffee table. A small bar with wine glasses on the far wall. Black leather guest chairs were in front of the desk. The other wall had two large bookshelves. The walls were a light color than the floors, almost the same colors as the other flooring in the house. I shrugged and closed the door before moving to the master. I pushed the doors open and stared at the room, taking in a deep breath.
Jesus, its beautiful. I thought. The oak floors were the same as the rest of the house, minus the office, but it mixed in well with the pure white walls and small white area rug that surrounded the bed. The room was very large but I loved it. The large California king was in the middle of the room, a textured wall, same as the flooring, behind it. Matching nightstand next to it matched the bedroom in a soft colored gray. A dresser with a vanity matched the nightstands. Two large windows to the side that face the forest. There was two walk in closets filled with built in shelving that matched the bed frame. I went to the bathroom and took in a deep breath. His and hers sink with marble counter-tops with swirls of gray in them and a large mirror that covered most of the wall, vanity lights covering the sides and top. A platform matched the marble on the sink and a plain white freestanding soaking marble tub sat on top of it. The walls were pure white. The shower was the thing that I fell in love with. I was completely glass except for the swirl marble that had a built in shelf. An oversized stainless steel rain shower head was installed in the ceiling as well as a removable one. A stainless steel towel. Built in shelves. A chandelier hung from the center of the room. One that matched the one in the bedroom but didn't have a white fan.
I walked out of the bathroom and flopped down on the soft bed, closing my eyes tiredly. I gotta finish bringing in everything. I groaned loudly before forcing myself up. I moved down the stairs and pulled to a stop at the sound of a truck pulling up. I frowned and walked out side, leaning against the door-frame. The truck from the store. Great. I thought bitterly. I watched as four people get out. I moved out to my car.
"Um, hello?" I said. The smaller of the four frowned and rolled his eyes. He had light brown hair and he wore a sweatshirt that said... Shocker... Bark's Bay on it with blue jeans.
"Why are you here?" He snapped. I raised my eyebrows before rolling my eyes and cocking my hip against the car.
"Well, if you must know, I just happen to live here now." I said, crossing my arms in an annoyed manner. The other two watched as if they were amused. I felt eyes on me and shifted my glare to Daniel before looking at the younger male.
"Listen here-"
"Marcus." Daniel scolded softly and shook his head at him.
"What, Daniel?" Marcus pouted. Daniel simple shook his head and wrapped his arm around the smaller boys waist, kissing his cheek. I shook my head and raised my brow before turning around, picking up the box again.
"If you came by just to bug me then please leave. I have to get this in before it gets dark." I snapped, mildly annoyed. Daniel raised an eyebrow at me before shrugging at his friends and moved over as I moved up the porch.
"I'll help." I heard Daniel call from behind me. I frowned before carrying the box to the living room. I placed it down and a sigh left my lips softly before feeling a small dump against my shoulder to see Daniel, placing a box down next to the one I brought in.
"I'm sorry about Marcus's behavior, he's just moody right now." He tried to explain. I scrunched my nose up and sighed a bit before nodding.
"It's fine." I said. Daniel nodded in thanks and smiled softly.
"Thanks! That's great." He said before playfully slapping my shoulder. I flinched a bit causing him to raise his brows before scowling, standing up. I pursed my lips before turning to leave the room.
"Daniel!!" Marcus yelled as he walked in and placed a small box down. I rolled my eyes before the smaller man turned to me. "You don't have that many things."
"My other belongings flying in." I snapped before sighing, glaring at him before averting my eyes. "Besides, I don't have to explain anything to you." Daniel ran a hand through his hair with a tired groan before looking at Marcus who probably wanted to rip me up by my ears and strangle me with a wire.
"Marcus! You dropped this." The third man said. He had blonde neck long hair that was probably a bit longer if it wasn't in a braid. It was a picture.
"Oh sorry." Marcus said, rolling his eyes as he took from his friend. He showed me it and my blood ran cold. I frowned before moving away to the kitchen, ignoring his call to come take it. That picture was the only thing I had forgotten to throw away. I probably had more somewhere but I didn't want to find them.
"I didn't mean to make him upset." I heard Marcus from the living room. "I didn't know. I'll just leave it here." The kitchen back door that I had propped open earlier was swinging back and forth and I heard a deeper growl. I froze before turning around and gasping a bit. A goldish wolf, a very very large wolf stood in front of me, growling. It's eyes a deep red. I took a step back slowly and frowned, clenching and unclenching my fists.
"Hey, I didn't-" Marcus started before freezing. I stood there frozen, watching the animal watch me. I narrowed my eyes at the wolf. The large beast slowly moved closer to me, making my tense up. Stinky mutt.. I thought before keeping my eye on it. The beast sniffed at me before growling louder, snarling it's teeth at me. I hadn't heard Marcus leave but soon all four men came in to the kitchen quickly before freezing. I was still staring a the large wolf, it's lips pulled back in an angry snarl. I frowned before watching it stalk over closer, the animal in a crouched position ready to pounce. I sucked in a deep breath. I felt my hand begin to shake and I followed the animals movements. I was then was suddenly pushed behind Marcus. He took my arm and pulled me out of my own kitchen. I followed him before frowning. There was a bit of a commotion before the rest of them came back.
"We scared it away." Daniel offered. I raised my brows before looking at out one of the many windows. The other two guys looked at each other. The blonde with the braid nodded to the boxes.
"We got the rest in if that helps at all." He said.
"Okay. Thanks for your help." I replied in an aggravated tone before moving up to the stairs. "You guys can go." They nodded before leaving. I moved up stairs and made my way to the soft bed, closing my eyes.
Marcus's View:
I looked at Daniel and kissed him softly, running my fingers through his hair and nuzzled his ear softly. He kissed me back, and smiled, squeezing my hands softly.
"Hey! No PDA in my truck." Ethan all but growled, his blue eyes flashing gold. I rolled my eyes and giggled, kissing Daniel's cheek.
"Ethan, you're just jealous." I teased.
"Bro, shut up." Jonathan said, his blonde hair now out of his braid. I crawled onto Daniel's lap, resting my head against his shoulder and giggled, nuzzling his neck softly. "You're seriously like the most modest out of all of us."
"What do you think of our new neighbor?" Daniel asked, stroking my brown hair. I smiled and nuzzled his neck softly again, kissing the mark on his neck.
You probably already figured it out and if you haven't, well, I'll tell you. We're werewolves. And Daniel and I are mates. Jonathan's mate was killed in a rogue attack and Ethan has yet to find his.
"He's, okay, I guess." I pouted. I guess you could say that I was possessive and knowing that Daniel had touched him pissed me off. The fact that Daniel had shown interest in him pissed me off.
"Babe, don't be upset." My mate whispered in my ear before nuzzling it softly. "I was being friendly." I nodded but not really believing it. While mates were usually always loyal, I was afraid of losing mine. I tightened my arms around him. "You're not losing me."
"He's cool." Ethan said. We all looked at him shocked. "What?" He asked. He would never say that. He may be friendly but he was the type who didn't give compliments. "No, he's not my mate." Ethan said, rolling his eyes before looking to the dirt road. I shivered as I felt Daniel's lips on my neck and a laugh left my lips.
~
Pulling up to the large pack house, I jumped out of the car and wrapped my arms around Daniel's waist and he moved his arm around my shoulders. I looked up, still never getting used to the size of it. The house- well... You can't really call it a house. It was more of a mansion. The gates protecting the home were made of iron. Metal in the shape of leafs and two wolves howling at the and the mansion itself made of white marble like stone. Marble statues of wolves stood tall and mighty by the entrance of the house and I couldn't seem to take my eyes off details on them. The view of the house never got old. The interior of the pack house was more classic. The moment you entered, you were greeted by fancy greeting room, floors of marble with a moon right in the center of it to honor our Goddess, and white walls with black trim. Smaller wolf statues stood at the sides of the iron railing of the bifurcated marble staircase. This house has many hidden details if you looked close enough. In the iron railing, the metal was made to look like wolves. The railing made a soft curve at the balcony, overlooking the greeting room. To the right was a large entryway that lead to the cozy large family room that had the same white walls and black trim. There was a large on the main wall and multiple couches surrounding it. In the far corners were game tables and a play area for the pups.
We all four went into the family room, me taking over the couch, flopping on it with a groan. Daniel laughed and sat next to me, moving my head on his lap. I closed my eyes as he massaged me scalp. We heard heavy footsteps nearing us, making Ethan look up from leaning against the wall. Cal Willard. Our pack's beta. Now he was someone no one wanted to mess with. At 6'7", Cal even towered over our great Alpha. He more muscle mass than most of the males in the pack but managed to make it look good. His piercing green eyes were always looking for a threat just in case. He was good with authority, in forced rules but treated everyone fairly, even the omegas, and practically bled alpha even though he was only a beta. His dark brown hair was cut short but layered nicely around his features.
"The Alpha is upset, he's been on edge since this afternoon." Calwarned us as he kicked my leg to make me move. I moved, groaning softly and grinned as I slid in Daniel's lap. I smirked softly and stuck my tongue out at our Beta, making him narrow his eyes in warning. I wanted to make a snarky remark but I decided to hold it.
"Why?" I asked.
"A new scent." Cal said as he relaxed against the couch. How he could be so calm was surprising, not. Out of everyone, Cal could control his emotions. Even better than our.... A loud bang from up stairs... special Alpha. The Alpha marched down. His anger was so toxic and poisonous and choked me a little. His power was greater though. He screamed purebred. His blonde wavy hair was cut beautifully, long enough to run your fingers through it. He was tall, taller than Daniel but a few inches shorter than Cal. Our Alpha had a muscular build, skin kissed by the sun, and bright blue eyes that contrasted against his skin. Eyes that glittered with irritation. He approached us. Breathed in deeply. And growled at Daniel. Daniel tensed and gently pushed me away from him, lowering his gaze.
"Alpha." He said. Our Alpha bit back a growl before he took a step back, clearing his throat.
"Did you figure out what was going on?" He asked, his voice hard. Daniel looked at him before looking down.
"Yes, my Alpha." Daniel answer carefully. "It seems that he bought the grandfather Kornelius' home." The Alpha nodded and sat down on the other couch.
"Finally?" He asked and crossed his arms. Another thing about our Alpha. He was cocky. "Is this new person a were?" Daniel shook his head.
"No, my Alpha," He explained. "He doesn't smell like it." I bristled softly before looking down. Our Alpha nodded slowly before looking at me.
"Marcus." He all but growled. I felt my mate tense beside me before squeezing my hand. I licked my lips and looked down. I slipped my other hand into my pocket, shaking a bit. I felt something that had the texture of paper and pulled out a picture. It was of our new neighbor and a man who had his arm around his waist. A cute little ring on his finger and he was kissing the other man's cheek. He's engaged? Awwee. Gross. I thought.
I looked up at my Alpha and slowly handed him the picture.
"Em said his name was Noah," Cal said, looking our Alpha in the eyes. Only he could do that. "He's 100% human and seems to know nothing of the supernatural worlds.
A/N: Dammnnnn. I'm on a roll guys. Another chapter will be published tomorrowwwww! Bark's Bay is not a real place.
