"annie i still don't understand why you're here," dr. rodriguez said leaning back into his chair "the cops told me that you came here for false reasons. so i cancelled your sessions."
"i know but i need help." annie whispered
dr.rodriguez walked up to annies sitting figure and made her look at him, "annie, i know that all you've heard for a while that you're depressed but you're not."
annie looked at him in the eye and spoke more confident, "i know i'm not depressed i stopped taking the pills a while ago. i'm stressed and need advice and your the second person i thought of."
dr. rodriguez looked down at his watch, " i have seven minutes until my next patient, be brief."
"a couple months ago i applied for colleges."
dr.rodriguez stood up and sighed, "how is that a problem?"
" they send letters back, and i got into two."
"is that really the problem." dr.rodriguez questioned her while laughing
"no." annie mumbled
"is something holding you back?" he questioned as he took a seat in his chair.
annie sat quietly avoiding looking at dr.rodriguez "annie, you have three minutes left."
"yes, my only friend." annie said being honest while still looking away
"annie, does this friend know you applied to college and that you got accepted to two colleges."
annie shook her head, she didn't want ashton to know. ashton had been playing local coffee shops around the city. she didn't want to bother him with her minor problems.
"you have a phone, right?" dr. rodriguez said looking at his watch.
annie whispered, "no, im saving up money to go to college and the plane ticket."
"plane ticket?"
"yeah i decided what college i would go to on my way here."
"annie," annie looked at dr.rodriguez the last time she would. "if this person's your only friend they keep in contact with you. they would also be happy for you, but times up."
annie nodded before getting up and walking towards his large office doors. when she was halfway out she said a thank you not looking back at dr.rodriguez.

when annie had gotten home she pulled out the money her dad put aside for her from the cabinet and then went to her dad's room stealing hi old laptop that she couldn't touch.
annie spent a couple of hours doing research on flights that she could take. annie had decided that it would be best that she left tomorrow especially since the college she decided on said they needed her there in a couple of days anyways.
when she finished she erased her history and sneaked into her dad room. annie sat in the living room waiting for howie to show up when he finally did it was three in the morning and annie's eyes were barely open.
"it late, annie. what are you doing awake?"
the light from the outside hallway caused her to open her eyes wider to see the dark circles under howie's eyes
"i needed to talk to you but you're always at work."
howie dropped his keys on the floor and taking off his shoes, "well what is it?"
"i need you to take me to the airport tomorrow."
"what?"
"well, i needed to move out soon so a couple months back i applied to college and i got into some and i have to go check out my colledge. i also thought it would be easier for you."
"annie, i love you. having you in the house. You being here is not a burden."
"i know, but can you take me?" she mumbled
"no, tomorrow i find out if i get the raise i mentioned but i'll be here to say goodbye if you don't leave too late. why don't you ask that ashton kid."
annie nodded her eyes squinting too tired to keep them completely open. "okay, but can i call him from your phone tomorrow."
howie walked towards annie and hugged her "yeah, but go to bed or you'll fall asleep standing."
annie nodded and walked down the hall and fell asleep once her head touched the mattress."
-
annie woke up early to pack her things in the suitcases she had when she moved here. she didn't pack stuff other than clothes because clothes was the only thing she really had. howie had left an hour ago saying by to annie with a really long hug. annie first called her job to quit. the only person left to call was ashton.
annie kept dialing his number but once it rung once in her ear she hung up. she had feared that ashton was mad at her since she ignored him before he could approach her. when she built up the courage to call him he picked up his aussie accent sounding happy soon went into a monotone, "annie?"
"okay, ashton before you hang up or get mad. i have good news to tell you but i can't tell you over the phone."
ashton excused himself from the boys going into a different room. "well, how do you want to tell me then?"
"in person, but can you take me to the airport."
ashton didn't question annie, he smiled happy she wanted to talk. but he wanted to keep the act that he was mad so he kept speaking in monotone. "okay, i'll see you in ten minutes. and sa long as you have good news for me i have good news for you."
-
when they had arrived at the airport ashton had to use the bathroom while he did that, she took the time to buy her ticket. and put in the front pocket of her luggage. when ashton came back he saw annie beside one small luggage with a tag on it.
ashon had open his mouth but annie beat him to it. "ashton, the good news is i got into college and i quit my job," annie watched his face go to a smile. annie rushed out the rest. "the bad news is it's in another country. i didn't want to tell you because i was scared, scared that i would lose you as a friend because of distance."
ashton's smile went smaller. "i'm happy for you annie, you deserve it. but i was hoping that you brought me here because someone forgot their luggage at your place. but you're leaving."
annie frowned, "i know, and i hate that part."
"annie, you don't have to be scared you won't lose me."
"ashton, i don't have a phone."
"email."
"i can try." annie said
ashton grabbed her hand and wrote his email on the back of her hand in his messy writing. annie did the same with the only email she had but barely used.
when she looked at the time time on the wall. she hugged ashton goodbye "ash, i'm going to miss my flight but i 'll email you when i can."
ashton nodded and squeezed annie in his arms. "bye, i'll miss you."
'i miss you too, ash."
annie untangled herself from ashton grabbed her small luggage and rushed towards security. annie didn't want to miss her flight to america, she had missed america."
ashton stood in the spot annie had left him in. even hours later. ashton looked down at his shoes before looking back up wishing to see annie there.
"i have good news too, we got booked as an opening act for a band touring around australia. i wanted to ask if you wanted to come with us, as my girlfriend." he whispered to himself
he then left the airport, without annie.
