"There is no shame in turning back, when you discover that you are on the wrong path."

Your blue eyes were wide, numerous emotions and thoughts shot through your mind as you watched the man before you blink in surprise, his body frozen.
You couldn't comprehend what you were feeling in that moment.
You wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. You wanted to wrap your arms around him, but at the same time you wanted to run away.
All of your emotions were beginning to overwhelm you.
"Y/n.."
Your name left his lips in a silent whisper, his deep, brown eyes boring into yours.
You opened your mouth to respond, but no words came into your mind. You had no idea what to say or do as you watched silent tears begin to trail down his cheeks.
You couldn't read his expression in that moment. You had no idea what thoughts were going through his head, or what emotions he was feeling. You knew he was probably a little confused...you would be too if you were in his situation.
The two of you stared at each other silently, a thick atmosphere surrounding you.
Namjoon and Hoseok watched the two of you with curious stares, watching your reaction...waiting to see how things would play out.
"Wh-What was that?" Jin asked quietly, his hands moving to touch the tears that stained his face. "Why am I crying?"
Your brows furrowed together, heart clenching in your chest as you inspected him carefully.
"Y-You don't remember?"
Seokjin ran a hand through his hair, confusion covering his features as he shook his head.
"Remember what?"
Those words.
Those two words were all it took to make your world come crashing down around you.
You could feel yourself beginning to fade away. All the hope that you had for the former spirit vanished within an instant..
You thought he would remember. You thought that he would have seen the things that you did. You thought that it would bring him back to you. When your eyes met his, you could have sworn that you saw recognition flash over his deep brown eyes...but you guessed you were wrong..
It was all in your head.
He didn't know you. He still had no idea who you were...he still had no idea what the two of you had been through together...even after your skin brushed his.
You supposed that it was some kind of cruel joke.
You were forced to relive all those memories alone...you were teased with the hope that Jin would come back to you...only to find out that you were still as you had always been. Alone.
"What's going on?" Jin asked, his eyes studying you carefully. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You-You really don't remember me?" You stuttered out silently.
He eyed you for a few moments before frowning.
"I have no idea who you are, woman."
You moved your gaze to the ground.
You suddenly felt so small-so powerless.
It felt as though the walls were beginning to cave in on you. You felt trapped and suffocated as you clenched your fists.
Hoseok took a step forward, his eyes sympathetic as he reached out for you.
"Y/n-"
You pulled away from him, shaking your head as you slowly backed away.
"I-I'm going to sleep," You started. "I'll see you all tomorrow."
You turned on your heel, leaving the room without giving another glance to anyone, you remaining on the wooden floor as you hastily moved away from the three men.
Jin watched as Hoseok chased after you, calling your name.
The room fell into a heavy silence.
Namjoon's green eyes scanned over the former spirit's body, watching as his shoulders slumped.
"You're hurting her, you know."
Namjoon's voice came out as cold and stoic as he watched your body disappear into the darkness.
Seokjin turned to face him, his once neutral expression falling into a saddened one.
"How did you know?" He asked softly.
Namjoon sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair.
"That you remembered?" He asked. "I saw the way you looked at her."
Jin hung his head, his hands tangling with his blond locks.
"I was that obvious?"
The physician frowned, moving towards the young royal.
"Why did you lie to her?" He asked. "Why did you say you didn't remember, when clearly you do?"
The blond-haired man let out a sad sigh, his shoulders slumping.
"She-She deserves something better." He stated. "All I've done is hurt her...This is the only chance she has to start over, to move on with her life...without me being there to hold her back."
"That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my entire life." Namjoon spat.
The royal's head snapped up at his words, his brows furrowing together as the purple-haired man continued.
"She has a right to know if you remember her." He stated. "Do you know how this has been affecting her, Jin? You saw her by the lily pond, you know how hard it is for her!"
Seokjin frowned.
"I know." He said. "But it's better this way. Her life will be so much better without me."
"That may be true," Namjoon said. "Hoseok told me what you did...and it is inexcusable...But that doesn't matter. This isn't just about you."
Jin shook his head, his brows furrowing.
"I'm not trying to make this about me-"
"Yes you are." Namjoon popped. "You can say that it's for Y/n's benefit, but in all reality, you're just scared that you aren't enough for her. You're scared that you will never be able to make her happy...and you're scared of your own defects."
Namjoon took a deep breath before continuing.
"But, this isn't just about you, Jin." He started. "You're messing with her life. You're hurting her. She has a right to know. Even if it scares you...you have to tell her. You can't continue to cower."
Seokjin ran a hand through his dirty-blond locks, his mind processing the physician's words.
He knew that Namjoon was right. He was scared. He was terrified. When all of his memories came back to him, he was reminded of just how poorly he had treated you...if he were in your position, he wouldn't speak to him either...
He had to tell you.
But, he was scared.
God, he was scared.

"Please stop following me."
Your voice cracked as you spoke to the man behind you, your eyes never leaving the ground.
Hoseok paused momentarily, his expression falling at your words.
"No." He said. "Not until I know that you're alright."
You stopped in your tracks, turning to face him.
"I appreciate the concern," You stated. "But I would really just like to be alone with my thoughts right now."
The black-haired man stepped closer to your form.
"I'm sorry that he doesn't remember."
You frowned, biting your lip.
"Hoseok-"
"But please don't cry over him." He whispered sadly. "I hate seeing you cry."
His fingers gently brushed the skin of your cheek, his golden-brown eyes softening as he stared at you, the sound of the rain filling his ears.
"I-I thought he would remember." You said honestly.
Hoseok nodded slowly.
"I know you did." He breathed. "But I don't think he's coming back..."
You bit your lip, head nodding sadly as you glanced around the two of you.
The former warrior stepped closer to you, his hand falling to yours, fingers intertwining.
"I know that you have feelings for him." He started softly. "And I know that he once had feelings for you..but the man you knew...is gone...And I know it's sad and I know that you're hurting because of it..."
You listened to him with furrowed brows, hands beginning to shake as he toyed with your fingers.
"I'm right here." He stated. "I'm right in front of you...I'm here and I will always be here...I love you..."
Your breath hitched in your throat at his words.
"Hoseok, I-"
"Before you say no," He started with a saddened chuckle. "You should know that when I look at you, I see my future...I see our future...and every since I met you, I haven't been able to see a future with anyone else...You're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with..You're the one I want to hold in my arms every night..You're the one I want to bear my children and you're the one I want to love me..."
You listened to his words with a heavy heart. You had known about his feelings since he almost confessed to you a few hours ago...but that didn't make you any more prepared for this moment.
"I-I can't." You said quietly, pulling your hand away from his and taking a step backwards. "I'm sorry."
Hoseok's face fell, his eyes saddening at your words and soft tone, the lack of your touch causing his heart to shatter into a million pieces.
"It's because of him, isn't it?" He asked.
You looked away from him, not giving him a response.
Hoseok took a deep breath, his emotions swelling in his chest.
"You'll never stop waiting for him, will you?" He began. "Your heart will always skip a beat when he walks into the room and you'll always hope that one day he'll look at you with recognition...you'll always be wishing that some part of him will remember you...You're still waiting. You'll always be waiting...but he won't come back...and you know it."
"It doesn't matter." You blurted. "Even if he never remembers me..I'll wait."
Hoseok furrowed his brows, taking a step forward.
"Why?" His voice came out in a desperate plea. "Why would you spend your life hurting like that, when I'm right here? I'm in front of you, giving you everything. I'm willing to do anything for you. I could make you happy, Y/n. I could make us both happy."
You stepped back.
"Hoseok, please-"
"Why is he so special?" His voice cracked. "Why does he deserve you? Why can't I be the one you want? Why can't you love me?"
You were beginning to take in the urgency in his voice as he continued walking towards you.
You moved back until your back was pressed against the wall, blue eyes wide as you stared at him.
"You-"
"It's almost funny," his voice cracked. "I thought I knew what real pain was....But I didn't...not until I saw the way you looked at him."
You bit your lip.
"I can make you happy." He breathed, his hands slowly moving to cup your face. "Let me make you happy."
You opened your mouth to speak, but your words were cut off as Hoseok's lips met yours.
This kiss was unlike the one before.
It was soft and gentle. You could feel the passion and raw emotion radiating off of him as his lips moved against your own slowly, his eyes closed as tears began to fall down his cheeks.
He sobbed against your lips as he continued to kiss you gently, tilting his head for a better angle.
It was a shame.
It was a shame that you didn't notice the man standing in the rain, watching you.
It was a shame, you didn't run after him, when he walked away.
It was a shame that Kim Seokjin saw Hoseok kissing you.
A/N,
