Worry flooded through her as she thought of how to tell her mum about the note.
Three days? How on earth is she meant to say goodbye to her present life in three days? She sighed as she got up from the bed. She decided to have a shower and then deal with it after dinner. Dinner is the priority. Food always comes first. She let out a small chuckle at her thoughts. It's no lie that she thinks of the needs of her stomach before anything else.
She grabbed a pair of black cotton shorts and a light purple tank top.
Walking into the bathroom her mind started to wonder. Where is Xiomar's territory?
She jumps as hot water blasts onto her body, she thinks back to the events on the field.
'Look at me princess', the way his raspy voice that was coated with a thick Italian accent sent shivers down her spine and those beautiful eyes, the way his height towered over her smaller body an-
"Amiera! Where are you?" her mother's voice rang out from behind the door. She didn't miss the obvious panic in her tone.
Shutting off the shower, she grabbed a white fluffy towel and went into her room.
"What's wrong mu-" She froze when she saw what her mother was holding in her hands.
"What's this?" She stuttered. The question wasn't necessary, both knowing exactly what that envelope was.
She recalled when she was younger her mother would tell stories about the binding process,
"Once a male has chosen his mate, there is nothing that can stop the binding process."
Young Amiera used to sit and listen in awe. She always wondered who her mate would be. She remember all the girls at school talking about how they wanted a mate like Prince Charming. She used to worry something was wrong with her because she wanted something darker, slightly more sinister than the rest, instead of the hero of the fairy-tale, she wanted the villain. Now she just wonders why Mother Nature is such a bitch.
"Pack your bags" my mother said breaking the silence.
Her heart clenched, that's it? That's all she's got to say?
Her heart sunk in disappointment as her mother put her head down and walked out.
The next day was spent packing. Her mother sat with her all day. From time to time her eyes teared up as she watched Amiera pack her things. She decided to only pack the most important belongings in a duffel bag. Hopefully one day Xiomar will take her to visit her mother, although normally it doesn't happen.
Amiera sat staring at the wall, how is she meant to act around him? How is he going to act with her? Is he going to be the same with her as he is with everyone else? She's known of Alphas treating their mates as 'slaves', making them cater to their every need while still having mistresses on the side. The blood drained from her face, what if that's what he does to her! She shook her head, no she couldn't survive that. As much as she tries not to be she was very heavy-hearted.
She tried to drag herself away from those thoughts. She'll take it as it comes.
She thumped down the stairs when her mother called for dinner.
Laid across the table was roast chicken, roast vegetables and other small sides. A small smile graced her face, hungry eyes taking in the glorious food in front of her. She cooked Amiera's favourite. Both sat down, clearly equally thinking about the events to come in the next few days. Even in a time of sadness they chose to be optimistic. Over dinner the pair laughed and spent quality time together. Amiera didn't want to know whether it would be the last time she ate dinner with her mother for a very long while.
He knew he shouldn't be here, he also knew he should've stuck to his word. But he couldn't wait, he had to see her.
Amiera woke up startled in the middle of the night. She looked across to the alarm clock and saw it was 1:23am. As she laid back down, she heard scratching against the door. Alarmed she jumped back up, looking down only to realise it was her mother's tabby cat trying to get into the room. Softly she giggled, the half asleep girl sluggishly got up to let the cat in. She frowned when she heard her hissing. What's got into her?
As Amiera stepped towards the door, a broad shadow reflecting on the door from the moon light demanded her attention. Suddenly all the sleepy fog that clouded around her disappeared.
She spun around to face the window.
She didn't expect to see an man standing there in all his glory. The shadows on his face portraying the ironic darkness.
How did he get in here? She panicked.
"Principessa" his husky voice held an unreadable emotion.
Her heart melted a little when she heard his accent curl around the foreign word.
"What-t are you doing in here-e?" She scolded herself for stuttering, her heart rate increasing each second.
He stepped forward.
"Well princess, there has been a change of plans." He whispered as he stepped in front of his little mate. His calloused hands gently cupping Amiera's cheek.
"I couldn't wait three days, so I'm here to take what's mine" he softly said, "and amore mio, that's you."
