"Alexis! Let's go to ya next class, what do you have next?¨ The girl with the gum was back, I swear she was still chewing the same piece of gum.

¨I have P.E.¨ I said as I watched her make her way through the crowd.

¨So do I! I'll show her the rest of her classes for the day if you don't mind.¨ Cat jumped in.

¨Oh I don't mind at all, thank ya!¨ She smiled at Cat and I before jumping off into the opposite direction, straight into the arms of some boy who I assumed was her boyfriend.

"Oi Cat! Get over 'ere, and bring your little friend with you." I snapped my neck to the side, seeing a large group of girls approaching us.

"Cat, come on, lets go." I tried ushering her towards the group, but she just shook her head. Her eyes were full of fright.

"I can't, they hate me, let's jsut go the opposite way please, if we can get to a teacher before they get to us nothing bad will happen. Please Alexis, please" She begged, tears were threatening to fall from her eyes. I couldn't just stand there and watch her like that, I had to do something.

"Come on then, let's go quickly, there has to be a teacher around here somewhere, right?" I mumbled, making sure she was next to me at all times, looking around, but there was no teacher to be found.

"Can we just go to the gym, our teacher will be there already." Cat frantically said.

"Cat if you don't come here I'll find you one way or another, so move your slutty ass here now." The same girl who had spoken before spoke again.

"I'm sorry for what's about to happen." Cat mumbled, tears were falling down her face at this moment.

I didn't have a chance to reply before I felt knuckles pound into my face. I stood there in shock for a couple of seconds, before the realization of what actually happened hit me. I had just been punched. I didn't even know the girl. I'd only ever been hit by my dad. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. I moved here to get away from the kicks and punches, not throw myself into more of them.

"Why are you friends with little miss ugly slut over here?" The girl spat the words out of her mouth, literally, I felt little droplets of spit hit the spot where I had just been punched.

I stood there in silence, I had nothing to say. With my father I had learned not to reply, i had learned to just stand there and take the hits. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Cat was being held up against a locker, by more than enough people, around 3 or 4, I couldn't tell exactly. My vision was blurred due to the tears that were brimming at my eyes. I couldn't stand there and watch her take this, I had to do something but I didn't know what to do.

"Just leave her alone." I managed to choke out, pulling myself out of the grip of the girl and rushing over to Cat. The girls ontop of her were much harder to pry off, they were stuck like leeches. "GET OFF!!"

But they didn't listen, infact they threw more punches and kicks. I looked around desperately, but all I could see was a large group of students surrounding us in a large circle. Why wasn't anyone helping? It was Cat and I against a group of about 7 girls, there was no way we were going to get out of this without any visible cuts and bruises.

"Leave them alone, Emily." A voice called out, a male voice this time.

"Why? Why are you sticking up for them? You're meant to be on my side!" Emily shouted at him, I lost my focus, and my strength as I took in what was in front of me. I was pinned against the wall by the other 2 girls that were left. I knew what was coming so I braced myself for it. I was punched several times in the gut, but I couldn't even grab my stomach to double over in pain due to the fact that my arms were pinned together above my head.

"Just leave them. You can't keep beating up everyone who is friends with Cat." The boy sighed as he took Emilys hands in his. "I am on your side, I'm trying not to let you get suspended."

"Cat should never have done what she did, her and her little friend deserve everything they get." Emily snarled, snatching her hands away from his. "If you want to be on their side, don't talk to me, ever."

"You're just overreacting," the boy calmly responded.

"This is all your fault!" Emily screamed as she shoved Cat into the wall, her arm pressed against her neck. I could see the colour draining from Cats face, she was going to kill her.

"Just leave her alone for fucks sake!" I yelled, but to no avail. I couldn't do anything, and neither did anyone else. Except for him, he pulled Emily off of Cat. He held her tightly as she bombarded him with kicks and throws. I saw him whisper something in her ear, before pulling her through the hallway. What did he whisper? Who was he? I needed to find out, I needed to thank him for not letting her kill Cat.

"I suggest you don't continue being friends with little miss bitchy girl over here." A girl spat at me, giving me a good knee to the stomach before they all let go, letting me collapse to the ground in pain. I looked over at Cat, she was laying on the ground, a puddle of blood surrounding her. Her glasses smashed on the floor beside her. How could this happen? This was high school! Things like this weren't meant to happen, kids weren't meant to get beaten. We were 14 years old.

"Cat, Cat, come on we gotta get you to the nurse." I mumbled, slowly pulling her up and helping her limp towards the nurses office. Her eyes were drooping low, and she could barely walk. How could a human being doing this to another? How? I just couldn't understand, especially when Cat had done nothing in the first place, all she was doing was walking towards her next class, we hadn't even looked at her in the wrong way.

"Oh again?" A sweet voice mumbled as I pulled Cat into the nurses office. What did she mean again?

"What do you mean, again?" I asked, I was puzzled. Why had this happened to her more than once?

"This happens almost every time Cat gets a new friend." The woman replied as she took a wet cloth, dabbing it along Cats face.

"Is that why she doesn't have many friends?" I mumbled, taking a seat next to Cat who was now laying flat on the bed, still unconscious.

"Yes. Emily and her group are known for ruining things for Cat, but Cat has never told us why, if there even is a reason." The nurse responded, not taking her eyes off Cat.

"Oh." I didn't know what else to say. There were a million things running through my mind, but I couldn't form the thoughts into words. "Is she going to be unconscious for a while?"

"Probably for the rest of the day." The nurse sighed. "Here, I'll clean you up and then get a note for you so you can go to your next class."

"Thank you." I responded as I started at Cat, the nurse dabbing the little amount of blood off my face, luckily I hadn't got it as bad as Cat had. "Oh, wait, I don't know where my classes are at all. Cat was going to show me."

"I'll bring someone in and they can show you around for the rest of the day." The nurse responded immediately as she wrote something on a piece of paper before reaching for the phone. She talked to someone on the other line for about 2 minutes before turning around to face me. "Your guide will be here soon."

"Thank you." I mumbled again, "I'll be here for Cat at the end of my last period if that's okay?"

"That's fine." The nurse said, before a male voice spoke up from behind me.

"I'm here for Alexis, Mr.Benos sent me." The boy sounded surprised, probably from seeing Cat like that.

But it was me who was surprised when I turned around to see who it was. It was him, the one guy that had stopped Emily from killing Cat and I.
