Night - Institute - Clary's bedroom
After the rite of passage for the fallen shadowhunters and Silent Brothers, Jace, Clary and Kasey returned to Clary's room, searching for the rune Clary had drawn to destroy that demon at Iris Rouse's basement.
Clary was sitting in her bed, drawing the rune she saw in her vision.
Jace and Kasey were looking in books.
Kasey closed a book, massaging her temples "Well, officially, there's no sign of existence of that rune"
Jace sighed, shaking his head "Yeah, I'm not seeing it in the Gray Book"
"Well, isn't that thing supposed to have every single rune?" Clary asked.
"Some of them are removed" Kasey explained "They're reserved for the most elite members of the Clave"
"I'm not exactly elite, so why do I know it?" Clary asked.
Jace tilted his head, "Maybe you saw it somewhere and you don't remember"
Kasey pointed at her, "Maybe add that to the list of things you forgot when Magnus gave your memories to that demon" Jace looked at her, tilting his head. Kasey shrugged slightly, "What? I read the reports of everything that happened since Clary got here, remember?"
"Right" Jace told her.
Clary sighed, shaking her head "It appeared, like a vision. Not a memory. Like someone or something was trying to send me a message" She frowned, looking at Jace "Maybe it's from our mom"
"Clary, I know you miss her–" Jace began.
"How else do you explain it?" Clary asked.
Jace sighed, shaking his head "I don't know"
"You know, I'll just go ask Izzy and Alec" Clary told them, ripping the paper with the drawing of the run from her sketch book "Maybe they'll know something"
Kasey took the paper from Clary "No. Absolutely not. If you tell anyone else, they could be in danger, too"
Clary looked at her in confusion, looking at Jace.
Jace nodded in agreement "The Clave is quick to persecute anyone or anything they don't understand. Look at what they did to Kase in order for her to spill the whereabouts of the Cup. Threatened her, questioned her loyalty and arrested her"
Kasey nodded.
Clary sighed, nodding slightly.
There was a knock on the door
Kasey put the paper inside her jacket pocket.
"Come in" Clary called.
Isabelle walked in, seeing Jace and Kasey there "Just wanted to see how Clary was doing. But if I'm interrupting something–"
Clary, Jace and Kasey shook their heads, "No"
Clary, Kasey and Jace exchanged a confused but amused look, looking at Isabelle, who looked amused as well.
"Not at all" Clary told her.
"Just siblings bonding" Kasey told her, slightly awkwardly.
Isabelle tilted her head, nodding slightly.

Main Room
Clary had gone with Isabelle to the Iron Sisters. Kasey had wanted to go but with Victor's prohibition of having field work she wasn't allowed to go and because if the demon blood she had been experimented on she couldn't have made it through the Citadel because the adamas is to fragile to demonic impurities and the water contained heavenly water that destroyed them to protect the adamas and the Citidel. So Kasey stayed on the institute, with Jace.
But they weren't free of vigilance, soon called to Victor's office after being called in.
"Your demon blood makes it impossible to trust you" Victor told them "So, how about telling me why you two and Clary are studying the Gray Book. I have eyes everywhere. What are Valentine's little children up to?"
Jace tilted his head "We were teaching her about the history of runes. Last time I checked, educating a fellow Shadowhunter wasn't a crime"
Victor walked past them, "It's a shame you won't have much time for tutoring anymore" He stood behind them "I'm placing you on ichor duty"
Kasey and Jace turned to him, in disbelief and angry.
"Do we look like first-years grunts to you?" Kasey asked.
"I can have you clean the latrines if you prefer" Victor told her, patting her once on the arm, walking past her.
Jace and Kasey looked annoyed.

Training Room
Jace and Kasey were cleaning some blades from demon blood.
Kasey looked at the blood in disgust.
Jace looked at her, chuckling at her expression.
Kasey looked at him, raising a blade with blood slightly, threatening to slash it at him.
"Can't do much harm" Jace told her smirking, "Remember that thing runs through our veins?"
Kasey lowered the blade, giving him an unamused look, holding back a small smile "Fuck you"
Jace raised his eyebrows, "Language, little sister"
"I may be older than you, you know?" Kasey asked, raising her eyebrows.
Jace shook his head, "No. There's no older sister here. Just little sister" Kasey tried to shove him aside, playfully. Jace chuckled, grabbing her arm to stop her "See? Classic childish behavior, Kas. Meaning, I'm the oldest"
Kasey rolled her eyes, but smiled.
Jace smiled.
A few shadowhunters walked closer, placing their blades on the table, walking away.
"You're supposed to be working not playing around" a man told them. "Get to work"
"Make it shine" man 2 told them.
Kasey and Jace let their smiles drop, looking at each other in annoyance, rolling their eyes.
"Pricks" Kasey told him.
Jace nodded.

Main Room
Victor was siting on his desk, signing on a paper.
Jace and Kasey walked in without knocking, throwing their dirty rags on the paper.
Victor looked up "I at least thought you'd last till the end of your shift"
Kasey and Jace crossed their arms.
"Why are you doing this to us?" Jace asked "We proved that we weren't in league with Valentine, but you're still treating us like we were"
"And everyone else here is questioning our allegiance" Kasey told him.
"As they should" Victor told them.
Victor held up a tablet, turning it on.
The screen showed footage from Jace's and Kasey's trial in the City of Bones.
Victor: (on the video) "Final question. Can you pledge your unconditional loyalty to the Clave?"
Jace and Kasey: (on the video) "Facilis descensus Averno"
Victor: (on the video) "I asked you a question"
Kasey: (on the video) "I'll be lying if I said I was"
Victor: (on the video) "And your answer is..."
"Turn it off" Kasey told him. Victor stopped the video. Jace turned away from them. Kasey passed a hand through her hair, "What do you want from us?"
Victor stood up, walking around his desk "It's my job to make sure our Shadowhunters are protected" He sat on his desk "To do that, they must know the truth about you"
Jace turned to them "You want us to leave. But you don't have the authority to kick us out, so you're making our lives hell. And now you're trying to sabotage any shred of credibility we have left?"
"It doesn't seem to much hell for what I've seen" Victor told him. He looked at Kasey "I'm giving you quality time with the sister you didn't know you had"
"While keeping us away from our other sister" Kasey told him sarcastically. "Nice"
Victor ignored that, standing up "If you both choose to stay, I'll have no other choice but to show everyone who they're living with. Who they're fighting alongside"
Jace and Kasey looked at him in annoyance, sighing softly, looking at him angrily, exchanging a look with each other.

Magnus's Apartment - Outside
Jace and Kasey were holding a bag each, walking closer to Magnus' apartment.
"He will kick us out" Kasey told him.
Jace rolled his eyes, "He won't" He hesitated, "Probably" Kasey gave him a look. "We can find another place to stay if this doesn't work. You coild have stayed at the institute"
"And be the target of prejudice or be thrown at me everything I hid?" Kasey asked skeptically, shaking her head "Of being reminded how I lied to the Clave for years for this stupid visions that come whenever the hell they want about a mortal instrument? No thanks"
Jace scoffed, "Then stop complaining"
They arrived at the door.
Jace opened the door.
Jace and Kasey looked at each other for a moment, sighing.
They walked in.

Inside
Alec and Magnus were inside, kissing.
Kasey and Jace walked in from the front door. Jace closed the door.
Alec and Magnus pulled away, looking at them.
Kasey cringed slightly, walking closer, hesitantly "Sorry for killing the mood, boys"
Jace walked closer, sighing "You got a spare room? Or two?"
Alec frowned, looking at them confused.
Magnus gave them a look, but looked confused and curious.
